Chapter 1: Chapter 1
The blue sky and the white cloud looked as if they were made of the same substance. They floated together in an unbreakable pattern, orbiting the earth like a beautiful dance. The sun was shining, as it usually does in these parts. The temperature was perfect as well. At least for now.
Luciana watched the sky for a while. Then she looked down. Her heart sank at the sight. More precisely, at the lack of it. There was nothing below her but more mountains.
She turned her head to the left, to see if she was the only one. So far, the landscape was empty. She was all alone.
Only a few people have ever visited this area. It was illegal for anyone other than the guards to come here. No one had ever come here. Not for a long time, anyway. So no one knew what was here.
There were many theories. Some said that it was a military base. Others said that it was a factory. But no one really knew.
Maybe people didn't want to know. Maybe it was better that way. She wasn't sure. She looked back to the sky. There was a path there. A path that led up the mountain. And there was a gate at the end. Luciana wondered was it keeping people out, or keeping something in.She didn't know. And she didn't care.
She was going to find out. One way or another.
