Chapter 1: Chapter 1
I killed Laura.
I know it sounds crazy, but it's true. I killed her. Blood and drugs. That's what I saw when I looked at him. He was covered in both, smeared across his face and dribbling down his chin. His eyes were bloodshot, and his hair was a mess, matted and streaked with blood. He looked like a bloody mess. And he'd done it to himself. He used to be so handsome. I remember when he won the Mr. Olympia contest. He was so proud of his body, so sculpted. Now look at him. A disgrace. A freak.A monster.
He was trying to get clean. He had been trying to get clean for months. He would go to rehab, get clean for real" this time, and then relapse. It was a vicious cycle. And he was sick of it. So he did what he had to do. He took matters into his own hands. He didn't want to live like this anymore. So he killed her.
I wasn't surprised. I knew he would kill her one day. He was a ticking time bomb. A junkie with a heart of gold. He would do anything for a hit. Even kill if need be. And this time it was her turn. She owed him one. He had saved her from a mugger once. She had repaid him by stealing from him and making him look like a fool in front of his friends. She decided to leave him for a dealer he didn't know. You can run, but you can never hide," he said to her. "I know where you live. I know what you drive.I know what you wear. And I know what you eat."
"I don't care what you know," she told him. "I don have anything to hide."
He smiled. "Good. Because I know you like to party. And I know you like to drink. And I know you like men. And I know you have a thing for black men.So I'm going to invite you to a party. A real party. And I'm going to throw you the best party ever. Because I'm going to kill you at that party. And your body is going to be found in a dumpster. And your blood is going to be all over the place. And people are going to be looking for you. And they're going to find you. "You can kill me all you want, but you won't find me. I'm not going to a party. I'm not going to a game. I'm not going to a strip club.I'm not going to a damn thing because I don't want to be found. And you can't kill someone who doesn't want to be found you understand?"
"No, I don't understand. Why do you want to kill me? What do you want from me?"
How am I supposed to help you with that? Stop doing something I've always done without any prompting or encouragement."
And those were her last words before William stuck the knife in her stomach, then her chest, then her stomach, chest, stomach, chest, until her wide eyed gaping mouth fell face first on floor. Blood. Red. Smelling of sweet, sour, and salty. The smell of life. And death. And everything in between. He stood back as she gasped her last breath, then he wiped the knife across his face, his arm, his leg, and his face again until it was clean. And then he walked away. He was done with her. He had what he wanted. A clean body, a clean face, and a clean soul. And he was ready to move on to the next one.He had a problem. And he had a solution. And he was ready to go through with it.
