Chapter 1: Chapter 1

It wasn't a pretty sight. The moonlit night had been turned into a blood-red dawn by the time the Protagonist had made his way through the deserted city streets. He had been following the sound of heavy, bone-crushing metal, the kind that makes you want to sink your teeth into something, anything, to relieve the pain.He was following the ghost. The phantom's footsteps had been the only ones he heard, echoing in his head.

The ghost had appeared out of the blue. It was as if the air had been electrified. The sky had turned from crystal to blood-red.The stars had disappeared. The moon had turned to bloodshot, and then back to full. The world had turned from grey to red. It had happened in an instant, and then it was gone, leaving the Protagonist alone in the empty, dark street.

He had followed the sound of the metal and the ghost, but he hadn't seen anyone. Not even an animal. It was as if the city had become completely deserted, as if it had never been anything but a giant ghost town, a phantom city. It had been a strange and wonderful thing to behold.

The ghost had appeared again. The sound of the metal and the phantom had become his reality, his every breath. He had been living in a world of sound and fury, the kind that makes your ears ring, the kind that makes your eyes water, the kind that makes everything else but your body disappear into the air. He was a creature of sound and fury, and now he had to follow the sound of nothingness. He had followed the sound of the metal and the phantom until they disappeared into nothingness, and then his world had been turned upside down. He had lost his job, his home, all that he had once cared about, and all that he had once been. Now, he just had to follow the phantom footsteps. They had become his only guide.
