The sky was dark, the stars were bright. The moon was full and bright. It was the only light on the lake, reflecting the stars back to the world. A world without streetlights, without electric lights. A world where everything was grey.
The wind was strong, pushing against my face as I stood on the small dock that served as our only entrance to the small island. I looked at Ry'mone, who was finishing docking the boat that we used to get on the island.His back was towards me, the full force of the wind hitting him as he bent over to tie the last knot. You ready?" I asked, knowing full well he wasn't. He turned to face me, squinting in the darkness of the late evening. "What time is it, anyway?"
"It's eleven o'clock in the night." I answered.I could see his breath escape him as he straightened up, the full force of the wind hitting him as he stood upright. "This is going to be so fun," he murmured to himself.
I could see the grin on his face, the one that said he was ready for anything. It was a sight I had seen many times before, yet it never failed to fascinate me. "Are you ready?" I asked again, this time with a twinge of sarcasm.
