Campbell's 30th birthday was a big deal.
Not only was it her birthday, but it was also the day that her poet boyfriend" sent her a copy of his latest work. He was supposed to be in town that day, but he hadn't sent her a text saying he was running late. She was worried. What if something happened to him?She opened up her laptop and typed a message to him.
"Are you okay?" she typed. "Where are you?"
She hit the send' button and sat back on her bed. The screen froze for half a minute as it loaded. Finally it popped up. "I can't load your message. Please try again.Error: no service."
"No service?" she muttered, staring at the words again. "What the hell does that mean?"
She threw her phone down and got up, pacing back and forth across her bedroom. Every time she looked at the door, she wondered if it was real or not. The knob turned, but nobody came through.
