Sitting in class, Joel stole glances at Isaac from across the classroom. Admiring his perfect jaw and those crystal blue eyes, he couldn't help but wonder what it would be like to kiss him. Do you need help with your homework, Isaac?" Mr. Whibley asked, oblivious to the staring contest going on between the two boys. "I can help you, if you want."
Isaac looked back at him, his eyes twinkling playfully in the dim light. No, thank you. I don't need help with my homework. How about you, Joel? Do you need help with your homework?"
A grin flashed across Joel's face as he thought about his answer.'No' seemed like such a simple, straight-forward answer, but the way his lips twitched at the corners made it seem like he was lying. He could feel blood rushing to his head as he stared at Isaac, waiting for his next move. What would it take for him to admit his feelings? What would it take for Isaac to admit his feelings?Would they be able to keep their relationship a secret from everyone? Would it be worth it?
"Joel, I'm talking to you", Mr. Whibley said, his voice raised only slightly to get Joel's attention. Snapping out of his fantasy he replied "I'll get Isaac to help me"and sat back in his chair.
The bell rang, and the class broke into laughter as Mr. Whibley stumbled over his own words and tripped over his own feet. He could sense the tension between the two boys but resisted saying anything, for fear of outing the boys before they were ready.
