Chapter 1: Introduction
By the time Matthew got to the secluded valley between towering cliffs, the sun was already sinking in the horizon, smearing patches of hot pink and golden orange across the sky. He’d been traveling for four days straight, stopping only for breaks to refuel and take in whatever new terrain he happened to have stumbled upon. That’s how Matthew found himself standing before an entrance to a small paradise, tucked away from the wicked world like a lover’s secret.
He wasn’t expecting it—but Matthew seldom allowed himself the pleasure of expectation. The terrain around him had shifted ever so slightly the past few hours—becoming softer, the foliage more lush. But it was nothing compared to the stunning sight of winding paths, vibrant flowers, and the gentle babble of the stream nestled in the valley’s heart.
The adventurous writer, exhausted yet invigorated by his find, set up camp nearby. He couldn’t resist the call of exploration, and soon enough, he was wandering through the valley.
The greenery was so much denser, the flowers a dance of colors against the backdrop of the twilight. It was an incredible feeling to be surrounded by such undisturbed nature, as if he had stumbled upon a lost world, hidden from the chaos of civilization.
As Matthew ventured deeper into the valley, it seemed to grow even more beautiful, more magical. It was as if the earth itself wanted to keep its secrets, to protect itself from those who would seek to compromise its beauty. A sudden gasp escaped him as he approached the stream at its heart.
He found himself utterly spellbound, for standing next to it was a figure unlike any he´d ever encountered. It was a woman—vast, tall, and strong, with golden locks cascading down her shoulders. Her eyes were cerulean pools, reflecting the gentle melody of the stream beside her. This was Natalia, the gentle giantess living in this secluded valley.
Matthew held his breath, too enamored by the breathtaking sight before him to even consider looking away.
She was a vision, a goddess, standing amongst the lush backdrop—but then her gaze caught his.
Natalia stared directly at Matthew, a flicker of curiosity in her eyes, and while a foreigner in this hidden haven, he knew honesty would be the only way to appeal to her. She was ethereal and immeasurable, like the ocean or the sky, and there was a quiet force about her that resonated deep within his chest.
Matthew swallowed, collecting himself to meet her gaze with unwavering sincerity.
Natalia lifted a hand, shielding her blue eyes from the waning sunlight. Her steps were cautious, measured, as if she were unaware of the colossal impact she had on the world, the sheer amount of force hidden within her gentle demeanor.
"Who are you?" she asked with a velvet-like voice that commanded reverence. Each word rolled off her tongue, captivating Matthew completely.
The air between them crackled with an electricity neither had ever experienced before. His own heart raced, not from fear, but from an intoxicating desire to get closer, to know more.
"Matthew," he said, the admission as sweet and simple as his own name. "I am a traveler, an adventurer, a man who finds beauty in the most unexpected places."
Natalia paused, tilting her head to the side in a gesture that only made her all the more intriguing. "A man who would venture so far from his own world to find mine?
That's a peculiar choice," she replied, her curiosity peaking.
"And a brave one," Matthew added, smiling warmly. "Even in my smallness, I could not ignore the allure of a place as magnificent as this. I knew I had to see it for myself."
Natalia seemed to consider his words for a moment, her gaze drifting to the valley behind them. The pink and orange hues of the setting sun cast long shadows over her face, highlighting her regal features even more so.
"Why do you watch me, Matthew?" Natalia asked, the softness in her voice difficult to ignore. "What could a tiny man like you hope to learn from someone like me? I am nothing but a legend to those who still dwell in the world you come from."
Matthew swallowed, considering his answer carefully. "I watch because I am curious; there is something captivating about your presence. I am not here to learn about legends or to judge you by my own world's standards.
