Chapter 1: Chapter 1
I'm staring at his bare chest as he shifts his weight from one side to the other, watching the rise and fall of his breathing. "You're staring at my chest? Why do you look like you're trying to figure out which button on my shirt says 'create'?" I ask innocently, but his eyes tell me otherwise. His chest puffs out as he laughs and shakes his head. "Because you're the only one who can create."
"But I don't want to create. I want to destroy." I hiss, and he takes my hand in his. "Come with me, my love. I need your help.I've lost my keys." I follow him reluctantly, my feet aching as I try to keep up.
"I'll just follow you, you said. 'It won’t take long before you find them.' And it didn’t. He led me through the park, past the tennis court and the children’s play area, until we reached the lake."I need you to help me find them, my love."
He pulls me closer to him, and I rest my head on his shoulders. What happened? Where did you lose them?'' I ask breathlessly. "In the lake, of course. How stupid do you think I am? To think I could have lost them anywhere else is ridiculous.I'm a goddess. I don't lose things." His chest puffs out again as he laughs and shakes his head. "Don't you dare call me stupid, my love. I know exactly what you are. You are jealous because I am beautiful and you are not. You are envious because I am loved and you are not.You are pathetic because you want me, but you can never have me. So you create these lies about me to make yourself feel better. You want me to be like you, but you are not like me. You are not my type and never will be. I am not attracted to you, nor will I ever be. There is no way you can change that, and you know it.So stop trying to change me and my type. I don't need you to be like me. I need you to be yourself."
"But I counter, what if I am myself? What if I am not jealous, nor envious, nor pathetic? What if I am just who I am supposed to be without your help? What if you are the one who needs help to be yourself? What if you are the one who needs to change? "Oh, I get it. You are playing the victim card. It worked the first time, but not this time. I see through your ruse, my love. You are not fooling anyone.
