Chapter 7: A New Purpose
The word “outside” had hung in the air for a full day, a looming, unacted-upon promise. The restless energy I’d felt thrumming through her on the couch had turned inward, simmering into a quiet, focused anticipation. We’d spent the hours in a strange, suspended normality. She’d read a book, holding me in her lap, her thumb absently stroking my back until I felt like a pet hamster. She’d made lunch, giving me a grain of rice to nibble that filled me for hours. The tests had stopped. It was the calm before a storm I couldn’t predict.
That evening, the restlessness returned. It was in the way she tapped her fingers on the arm of the plush chair, in the distant look in her eyes as she stared past the jasmine plant into the deepening twilight.
“Quiet day,” she said, not looking at me. I was perched on the knee of her sweatpants, a continent of soft grey cotton.
“I’m not complaining.”
“I am.” She shifted, and the world tilted. Her hand scooped under me, lifting me up to the cluttered coffee table. She swept a space clear, pushing a mug and a crumpled napkin aside with a careless screech of ceramics on wood. “We’ve established what doesn’t hurt you. But we haven’t… explored the limits. Not really.”
A cold trickle, familiar now, traced its way down my spine. “The skillet was fairly definitive.”
“That was threat. Theater.” She stood, her silhouette blocking the lamplight. “I want to know what it feels like for you. The pressure. The weight.”
She walked to the open space of carpet between the sofa and the table. She lowered herself, not to the couch, but to the floor. The boards groaned softly under her. She lay on her back, her dark hair fanning out, her body a topography of soft curves in the dim room. She patted her stomach, just above the waistband of her sweats. “Come here.”
There was no refusal. I walked across the vast plain of wood, my steps silent. I climbed the subtle slope of her discarded hoodie, used the cables of her sweatpants as a ladder, and hauled myself onto the firm, warm landscape of her lower abdomen. I stood there, a tiny explorer on a breathing plain.
“Lie down,” she instructed, her voice soft. “Right in the middle.”
I did. The fabric of her shirt was smooth beneath me. I could feel the subtle, powerful tension of her muscles underneath, a dormant strength.
“Okay,” she breathed. “Okay. Just… stay there.”
She planted her feet flat on the floor, bent her knees. Her hands came up, fingers laced behind her head. The muscles beneath me tightened, coiling like steel springs. Her abdomen contracted.
The world closed in.
It wasn’t the sudden, smothering embrace of her breast in sleep. This was deliberate, controlled, and infinitely more intimate. The soft pillow of her stomach firmed into a sloping hill, then a rising wall. Her body curled forward, and I was lifted, pressed between the hardening plane of her abs and the weight of her own torso as she performed a slow, perfect sit-up.
The pressure was immense. It was a pure, clean force, compressing me from all sides. The air in my lungs whistled out. I was embedded in her, a fossil in living rock. I could feel every shift of sinew, every tendon singing with strain. Her scent, warm and salty, filled the tiny, pressurized space.
She held the peak of the sit-up, suspended. I was a speck in the crucible of her effort. I could see nothing but the tiny weave of her shirt, lit gold by the distant lamp.
“You okay?” Her voice was a strain, a vibration through the flesh.
I couldn’t speak. I managed a tiny nod, a movement she probably couldn’t even see.
She exhaled, a long, slow release, and lowered herself back to the floor. The pressure bled away, becoming warmth, becoming softness again. I lay there, gasping the sudden abundance of air.
She did it again. And again. A third time. Each rep was a journey into a crushing, personal gravity, and a return. I was a witness to her strength, an object measuring her form. It was humiliating. It was awe-inspiring. It was, in its own bizarre way, an act of profound trust.
On the fourth rep, as she held herself at the top, her breathing slightly ragged, a new thought seemed to strike her. Her eyes, which had been closed in concentration, opened. They looked down the length of her own body, at the tiny lump I made against her.
The pressure didn’t lessen. The focus of it did.
She shifted, just slightly. A new, different kind of heat bloomed against my side. Through the layers of fabric, I recognized the topography. The firm line of her pelvic bone. The softer, warmer convergence below.
A sharp, quiet inhalation from above. Her whole body had gone still, but not with strain. With a different, more intense kind of attention.
She lowered herself back down, but the mood in the room had shattered and reformed into something denser, more electric. She sat up, not with an exercise’s rigor, but with a slow, deliberate rise. She looked at me, her eyes dark pools in the half-light. The playful curiosity was gone, replaced by a raw, hungry fascination.
“You feel that?” she asked, her voice husky.
“I feel everything,” I said, my own voice thin.
A smile touched her lips, but it wasn’t warm. It was a revelation. “Yeah. You do.” She picked me up. Her fingers were hot. She didn’t place me on the table. She held me close to her face, studying me as if seeing me for the first time. “All this time, I was thinking about keeping you safe. Showing you off. Proving a point.” Her thumb stroked along my side, a gesture that was no longer absent-minded. It was possessive. “I wasn’t thinking about use.”
The word hung there, ugly and honest.
“Use,” I echoed.
“You’re indestructible.” Her breath was warm on my skin. “You can’t be crushed. You can’t drown. You can feel.” She brought me closer, until her features blurred into a beautiful, terrifying landscape. “You’re the ultimate toy.”
She stood, carrying me from the living room, back down the hallway to her bedroom. The lavender scent was stronger here, the shadows deeper. She didn’t turn on the main light, only the small bedside lamp. She sat on the edge of her bed, holding me in her cupped palm against her chest.
“I want to try something,” she said, and it wasn’t a request. It was a statement of intent. “I’ve been… curious. Since I found you. This just makes it… possible.”
Her other hand came up. With a slow, deliberate motion, she pulled her tank top up and over her head, tossing it aside. Her skin was smooth and golden in the lamplight. She wasn’t wearing a bra. The sight was still staggering, a monumental, beautiful geography.
But her focus wasn’t there. It was on me.
She lifted me, not to her chest, but to her mouth. Her lips, impossibly full and soft, parted. She didn’t swallow me. She kissed me.
It was a slow, deep, passionate kiss. The heat and wetness of her mouth enveloped my upper half. The tip of her tongue, a slick, warm muscle, pressed against me, tasting me. The world became her breath, the slight salt of her skin, the overwhelming, intimate damp. She held the kiss for a long moment before pulling me back, a thin strand of saliva connecting us for an instant before it broke.
Her eyes were heavy-lidded, her cheeks flushed. “See?” she whispered, a crack in her voice. “No fear. I can’t hurt you.”
She lay back on the bed, pulling me down with her. She settled against the pillows, her body a study in generous curves and willing vulnerability. With one hand, she hooked her thumbs into the waistband of her sweatpants and panties, pushing them down her hips and off her legs in one motion. They joined the shirt on the floor.
She was completely naked. The air in the room felt cooler, charged.
Her hand returned, closing around me. She didn’t look at my face now. Her gaze was lower, fixed on her own body. She guided me down, past the gentle rise of her stomach, through the dark, soft thatch of hair.
The atmosphere changed. The air grew warmer, damper, carrying a faint, musky, organic scent that was purely, unmistakably her. The sound of her breathing grew heavier, more rhythmic.
She positioned me. The world ended in a landscape of flushed, smooth skin, glistening with a moisture that was not sweat. Heat radiated from it in waves.
“Here,” she breathed, her voice trembling not with anxiety, but with intense, focused need. “Right here.”
She lowered me, until my entire tiny body was pressed against that slick, waiting heat. The sensation was immense, a universe of textured softness and liquid warmth. I was engulfed. I could feel the powerful, rhythmic throb of her pulse here, too, a deep, frantic drumbeat.
She let out a shaky sigh, a sound of profound relief and anticipation. Her fingers left me, but I was held fast, adhered by the very evidence of her desire.
Her own hands came up, one covering a breast, the other resting beside my miniscule form, a giant’s hand poised at the gates of her own pleasure.
“Now,” she whispered, her eyes closing, a wild, helpless smile on her face. “Let’s see what you can really do.”
