Chapter 1: The Wine Bar Dare
The wine bar was a sanctuary of dim light and hushed whispers, the kind of place where secrets were spilled between sips and stolen glances. Jeanette crossed her legs beneath the table, the silk of her stockings whispering against her skin as she adjusted the hem of her dress. The black lace lingerie she wore beneath it was a secret—one she hadn’t even shared with Susanne yet. But Tom knew. She could tell by the way his eyes lingered on her when he thought she wasn’t looking, by the way his fingers tightened around his glass when she shifted in her seat.
“You’re playing with fire,” Susanne murmured from across the table, her lips curling into a knowing smirk.
She swirled her wine, the deep ruby liquid catching the candlelight as she leaned in. “And I *love* that you’re finally letting yourself burn.”
Jeanette smirked, her foot sliding out of her heel beneath the table with deliberate slowness. The cool air brushed against her arch before the silk of her stocking met the warmth of Tom’s calf. She felt his sharp intake of breath, the way his thigh tensed beneath her touch. A thrill shot through her.
“See something you like?” she purred, dragging her toes up the inside of his trouser leg, her nails lightly scraping the fabric.
The wine bar’s low hum of conversation faded into the background, replaced by the pounding of her own pulse. She could feel the heat of his skin through the thin material, the way his muscles tensed under her touch. His hand shot out like a viper, locking around her ankle in a grip that was firm but not painful—a warning, a promise.
“Careful, Jeanette,” he murmured, his voice low and rough, his thumb pressing into the delicate arch of her foot. “You don’t know what you’re playing with.”
She bit back a smirk, arching a brow. “Oh, I think I do.”
His fingers tightened, just enough to make her breath hitch.
