Chapter 1: Introduction
The air was thick with sweat and testosterone as Franco pushed the weight up with a loud grunt. His arms trembled from the effort, veins popping out on his massive biceps. He looked around, proud of his display of power, only to find Damian watching him with a smirk on his face. Franco's face contorted into anger as he stalked towards Damian, daring him to say something. "What are you looking at?" he growled.
Damian simply shrugged, unfazed by Franco's intimidation tactics.
"You really think you can compete with me, Franco? I've been lifting weights since before you could even grow facial hair." He laughed dismissively, glancing down at his own perfectly sculpted body.
Franco bristled at Damian's arrogance, but knew deep down that he was right. It wasn't just vanity - Franco had always been jealous of Damian's natural talent and intellect. But Franco wouldn't admit defeat so easily.
The thought of being bested by his little brother fueled his anger, driving him to push harder. He grabbed two heavier weights, determination etched across his face. He took a deep breath, then lifted the weights over his head with a roar, straining every muscle in his body. But despite his efforts, the weights slipped from his grasp, clanging onto the floor with a loud crash.
Damian couldn't help but laugh at Franco's expense. "Maybe you should stick to posing instead," he said mockingly.
Franco ground his teeth together, unable to deny the truth in Damian's words. He hated it when Damian got under his skin like this, but he refused to show weakness. Instead, he turned away and began to gather the scattered weights, determined to regain some semblance of control. As he worked, he could feel Damian's eyes on him, a mix of amusement and challenge. Franco's heart raced, and beads of sweat formed on his brow.
He tried to ignore Damian's taunts, focusing instead on the task at hand. But the more he worked, the more aware he became of Damian's presence. Every time he turned around, there Damian was, watching him with those damnable blue eyes. It was infuriating - Damian had always been able to get under Franco's skin like no one else.
Despite the simmering tension between them, however, there was also a certain... intensity to their interactions.
Despite their differences, there was no denying the bond between these two brothers. The way they competed against each other spoke volumes about their shared history – growing up, they had always pushed each other to be better. That competitiveness still lingered beneath the surface, fueling their desire to one-up each other.
It wasn’t long before Damian approached Franco, a mischievous smile playing at the corners of his lips. “So, big bro,” he drawled, slouching casually against the weight rack.
“How does it feel to be bested by your little brother?”
His voice dripped with false concern, but Franco couldn’t miss the hint of triumph in his tone. It made his blood boil.
But rather than lashing out in anger, Franco chose to ignore Damian’s taunt. He focused instead on arranging the scattered weights neatly on the bench press. His fingers fumbled with the metal bars, his knuckles white with tension.
As he worked, he felt Damian’s gaze burning into his back.
