Chapter 3: The Bathroom Confession
The morning light was a liar. It streamed through the hotel window, clean and golden, painting the rumpled sheets in a forgiving glow. It pretended everything was simple. Sera watched the dust motes dance in the beam that cut across Elias’s bare chest, rising and falling with his deep, sleeping breaths. The reality of what they’d done sat heavy in the room, a physical presence alongside the scent of sex and sweat.
She was naked under the sheet, sore in places that made her blush, her mind replaying the brutal, beautiful pounding of the headboard against the wall. His possessiveness. The raw sounds he’d torn from her. A shiver that was equal parts fear and craving went through her.
His eyes opened. No groggy confusion, just instant awareness, finding her immediately. The silver in his stubble caught the light. He didn’t smile. His gaze traveled over her face, reading the turbulence there.
“Regret’s a cold bastard,” he said, his voice morning-rough.
“It’s not regret,” she said, and found it was true. “It’s panic.”
He nodded, as if he’d expected that. He reached out, calloused fingers brushing a wild curl from her cheek. The touch was so gentle it made her throat tight. “Same thing, sometimes.”
They didn’t speak much. They ordered overpriced coffee and pastries, ate in the wrecked bed, the silence comfortable yet charged. The real world was a distant storm cloud on the horizon. He drove her back to her apartment in his pickup, the old truck smelling of sawdust and him. He walked her to her door, his hand on the small of her back a claiming, a comfort.
“My place tonight,” he said, not a question. “Come by after work. We’ll… figure out how to live with this.”
She spent the day in a haze, her illustrations blurring on the screen. The memory of his mouth between her legs was a persistent, distracting thrum. At five, she drove across town to the converted warehouse where he lived and worked. His daughter, Chloe, her best friend, was away at a semester-abroad program in Italy. The absence felt like a giant, guilty hole in the center of everything.
The main space was a carpenter’s paradise, all high ceilings, machinery, and the rich, clean scent of cut wood. He was at his bench, sanding a long piece of cherry, his shoulders working under a faded grey t-shirt. He looked up as she entered. The air between them crackled, charged with everything unsaid, everything done.
He put the sanding block down. “Hey.”
“Hey.”
He wiped his hands on a rag, his eyes never leaving hers. “You okay?”
She nodded, chewing her lip. The nervous habit. He saw it.
He crossed the space, stopping a foot away. He didn’t touch her. “I can’t stop thinking about it. About you. The sounds you made.”
Her breath hitched. “Me neither.”
“Good.” The word was a low rumble. He glanced toward the back, where the living quarters were. “There’s something… I need a shower. Sawdust is everywhere.”
He turned and walked toward the rear bathroom, a sparse, utilitarian room with exposed brick. She followed, her heart pounding a frantic rhythm against her ribs. This was it. The precipice.
Sera followed Elias into the bathroom, the door clicking shut behind them. The room was small, the air still steam-damp from his earlier shower. He moved to the toilet, and before he could unbutton his jeans, her voice, steadier than she felt, stopped him.
“Wait.”
He turned, a question in his eyes.
She swallowed. “I want to watch you pee.”
A slow blink. A flicker of something dark and hot in his gaze. He didn’t ask if she was sure. He simply turned back, unbuttoned his fly, and pulled himself out. He was soft, thick and heavy in his hand. She stared, fascinated, her mouth going dry. This was so intimate, so strangely vulnerable, it stole her breath.
He looked at her over his shoulder, his expression unreadable. Then he faced forward, and the long, strong stream began, hitting the water with a loud, steady splash. She watched the muscles in his back tense, watched the simple, animal act of release. It was powerfully erotic, this trust, this exposure. He was utterly unselfconscious.
When he finished, he gave himself a shake and tucked back in, not fastening his jeans. He turned, leaning back against the sink, his fly gaping. “Satisfied?”
“No,” she whispered, stepping closer. The room felt dangerously small. “Not even close.”
He cupped her face, his thumb tracing her lower lip, a rough caress. “Yeah? You’ve got a dirty little mind, don’t you?”
“You have no idea.”
A ghost of a smile touched his mouth. “Always been this kinky, Sera, or is it just me?”
“Just you,” she breathed. “It’s only ever been just you.”
That did it. The control he was holding snapped. He pushed her back against the door, the wood cool through her thin shirt, his mouth finding hers in a punishing kiss. It was all tongue and teeth and desperation. His hand slid under her skirt, fingers hooking into the waistband of her underwear and yanking them down her thighs. He didn’t bother taking them off. His fingers found her wet, so fucking wet already, and he groaned into her mouth.
“Christ, you’re soaked. For me?”
“Yes,” she gasped as two fingers plunged into her, curling deep. “Always for you.”
He fucked her with his hand, his thumb working her clit in rough circles, his eyes locked on hers. She was coming undone against the door, her hips bucking, her cries echoing off the tile. “That’s it,” he growled. “Come on my fingers. Let me feel it.”
She shattered, clenching around him, a broken sob tearing from her throat. He held her through it, his body pinning hers. Before the spasms fully subsided, he spun her around, pressing her chest against the door. He shoved her skirt up around her waist, exposed her completely. The cool air on her heated skin made her gasp.
She heard the rip of a foil packet, the rustle of his jeans being shoved down. Then the broad, insistent pressure of him, right there, at her entrance, still slick from her climax.
“You watched me,” he whispered, his lips against her ear, his voice a dark promise. “Now you feel me.”
He drove into her in one brutal, burying thrust. She cried out, the stretch delicious and overwhelming. He was so deep, so much fuller than his fingers. He didn’t wait, didn’t gentle. He set a ruthless pace, pounding into her, his hips slapping against her ass. The door rattled in its frame with every drive.
“Fuck, you’re tight,” he grunted, one hand fisting in her hair, the other gripping her hip hard enough to bruise. “Take it. Take all of me.”
She was bent over, completely at his mercy, and it was the most liberating thing she’d ever known. The obscene, wet sounds of their coupling filled the small room. She met him thrust for thrust, pushing back against him, wanting more, wanting him to break her apart.
“Whose pussy is this?” he demanded, his breath hot on her neck.
“Yours!” she cried, the words ripped from her.
“Damn right.” He pistoned into her, faster, harder. “Come again. Come on my cock.”
The command, the filthy words, the sheer animal force of him tipped her over another edge. Her internal muscles clamped down on him, a vice-like grip, milking him as she convulsed. Her scream was muffled by the door.
With a ragged shout, he slammed into her one last time, hips stuttering as his own release hit. She felt the hot pulse deep inside her, the primal claim of it. He collapsed over her, his weight pressing her into the wood, his forehead resting between her shoulder blades as they both fought for air.
In the aftermath, the only sound was their ragged breathing and the drip of the shower head. He softened inside her, but didn’t pull away. His hand, still tangled in her hair, gentled, becoming a caress.
“Sera,” he breathed, her name a prayer, a curse.
They were still fused together, pinned against the bathroom door in his workshop. Outside, the real world waited, complicated and judgmental. But in here, sticky and spent and raw, there was only this terrifying, glorious truth. There was no going back. Not now. Not ever.
