Chapter 3: The Release
He crossed the room in three strides, stopping just before her. The air between them crackled, thick with unspoken questions, unasked permissions and palpable tension. He didn’t touch her, not yet. He just waited, his gaze soft but unwavering, giving her the space to choose, to take. This was her decision. Her permission to grant herself.
She lifted a hand, her fingers trembling slightly as they brushed against the soft cotton of his shirt. The simple contact sent a jolt through her, a current of pure, unadulterated want. She curled her fingers into the fabric, pulling him closer until their bodies were a breath apart.
His hands came to rest on her waist, a warm, steady anchor, and he lowered his head, his lips hovering near her ear.
“What do you want, Liz?” he murmured, the vibration a promise.
She answered by closing the final distance, her mouth finding his. The kiss wasn't gentle; it was a release. A dam breaking. It tasted of whiskey and snow and the shocking, exhilarating freedom of a secret kept only from herself.
He responded with a low groan, his hands tightening on her hips, pulling her against him. There was no rush, no frantic race to a finish line. There was only the slow, deliberate exploration of rediscovery.
His hands moved with the precision of a man who knew exactly what he was doing, yet his touch was anything but clinical. He traced the curve of her waist, the dip of her spine, as if memorizing her by touch alone. She shivered under his fingers, not from cold—though the storm outside rattled the windows with its fury—but from the heat pooling low in her belly.
The way he touched her felt like a revelation, like a language she had forgotten she knew. His thumb brushed the hem of her blouse, slipping beneath the fabric to trace the bare skin above her waistband. She exhaled sharply, her breath hitching.
“You’re overthinking,” he murmured against her lips, his voice a low, teasing rumble. “I can practically hear the gears turning.”
She pulled back just enough to meet his eyes, her own dark and wide in the dim light. “I'm not—”
“You are.” His fingers stilled, but his gaze didn’t. It held hers, steady and warm, like a promise. His eyes were locked with hers as her dress fell to the floor.
His jaw dropped even as a smile crossed her lips. She reached behind her and unhooked her bra.
The lace slipped from her shoulders, catching on her elbows for a moment before falling to the floor. His mouth followed the lace till he reached her breast.
He took it in his mouth and sucked hard.
"Amma!" She moaned. Her hands found his hair and pulled. He moved to the other breast and did the same. She felt herself melting into him. He was taking his time, savoring her, and she let herself be savored.
She undid his belt and unzipped his pants , her fingers brushing against the hard length of him. He groaned, low and rough, as she wrapped her hand around him.
She guided him backward until the back of his knees hit the edge of the bed. She pushed him back and wrapped her mouth around him, her tongue tracing the length of him. He let out a sharp breath, his fingers tangling in her hair, not to guide her, but to ground himself.
He tasted like salt and heat, like something she had been starving for without knowing it. His fingers tightened in her hair, not pulling, just holding on as she took him deeper, her hand stroking the base of him. He let out a guttural sound, his hips lifting slightly off the bed.
"Liz," he breathed, his voice rough, as he pushed her back "not so fast."
Turning her over on her back, he slid his thumbs into the lace of her panties and pulled them down her legs. She lifted her his as he peeled her panties off, kissing her inner thigh, his breath hot against her skin. She arched into him, her fingers gripping the sheets as he traced the edge of her with his tongue.
She was so wound up and tense that she didn't last.
The moment his tongue found her clit, she shattered with a cry that was half surprise, half surrender. The waves of pleasure rolled through her, leaving her breathless and trembling. He didn't stop, though. He kept kissing her, licking her, teasing her until she was writhing beneath him, her fingers tangled in his hair.
She was still trembling when he finally lifted his head, his lips glistening with her. He looked at her with a slow, satisfied smile, like a man who had just discovered a secret.
"Still overthinking?" he asked, his voice rough with desire.
She shook her head, her breath coming in short gasps. "No. I don't think I can think at all right now."
He chuckled, the sound low and warm, as he trailed kisses up her body. "Good."
When he reached her mouth, he kissed her deeply, letting her taste herself on his lips. She moaned into the kiss, her hands sliding between his legs, guiding him to her opening.
He didn’t need any more encouragement. With a low growl, he pushed into her in one slow, deliberate stroke. She gasped, her back arching as he filled her completely. He stilled for a moment, giving her time to adjust, his fingers tangling in her hair as he kissed her deeply.
"You okay?" he murmured against her lips.
She nodded, her breath hitching as he began to move. Slow, deep thrusts at first, each one sending waves of pleasure through her. She wrapped her legs around him, pulling him deeper, her nails digging into his back. He groaned, his pace quickening, his hips rolling in a way that made her see stars.
The creaking of the bed became increasingly urgent as he picked up the tempo , his thrusts growing deeper, harder. She met him stroke for stroke, her body moving in perfect rhythm with his, as if they had been doing this for years instead of minutes.
"Wait for me," she begged as she felt him starting to throb inside her .
He groaned and slowed his pace, his forehead pressed against hers as he fought for control. He started circling her clit with his fingers as he moved in and out of her.
"Oh GOD YESSSS!!!" she groaned, her body starting to shake again . He felt her tighten around him, her inner muscles pulsing in rhythmic waves as she came undone beneath him. He let out a ragged breath, his own control slipping as he felt her shudder against him. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, his teeth grazing her skin as he fought a losing battle to hold on just a little longer.
With a roar in her neck, he let go, his body shuddering against hers as he came apart. His release was hot and deep, his hips stuttering against her as he emptied himself inside her.
They stayed like that for a long moment, their bodies still joined, their breath coming in ragged gasps. The storm outside had quieted, the wind no longer rattling the windows, the snow falling softly now, muffling the world beyond the hotel room. Inside, the only sound was their breathing, the occasional creak of the bed as they shifted slightly, the distant hum of the heater.
He rolled onto his side, taking her with him, their limbs still tangled. His hand traced lazy circles on her back, his touch gentle now, almost reverent.
In the quiet aftermath, they lay tangled in the sheets, their breathing slowly returning to normal. The snow had softened to a gentle flurry. She traced patterns on his chest, her limbs heavy and loose in a way she’d forgotten was possible. A profound peace settled over her, so deep it was almost terrifying.
“I can’t remember,” she whispered into the quiet.
“Remember what?” His voice was a low, sleepy rumble.
“Having this much fun.” He tightened his arm around her, pulling her closer.
“Yeah?” She pressed a kiss to his shoulder, a small, secret smile playing on her lips.
“Yeah.” And in the sanctuary of the snowbound room, they drifted to sleep, two strangers who were no longer strangers at all.
