Chapter 1: Introduction

The glow of my monitor reflected off the room like a private sun, casting long shadows from the unfolded futon chairs and vacant wine glasses. It was just me, the hum of the computer, and my latest obsession—designing the ultimate sex bot. A noble quest, or so I liked to tell myself.

"It's the final frontier, man," I had said to my friend Jake over beers last weekend.

"We've sent people to the moon, invented the internet, but creating a bot that can really keep up in the bedroom? Now that's progress."

Jake had laughed, shaking his head. "You're insane, Chris. But if anyone can pull it off, it's you."

I had basked in that, knowing he was right. I was good. Designing things, programming them to do impossible tasks, that was my jam.

I leaned back in my chair, stretching, and surveyed my little kingdom. My apartment was a jungle of tech, a labyrinth of wires and circuit boards, a testament to my obsession.

A single, sleek robot stood in the center, its pristine, silver exterior concealing the intricate mechanisms within. It was a work in progress, a prototype that I had been tinkering with for months. But it was the basis, the foundation for my grand project.

I grabbed a crumpled printout from the desk, a half-eaten pizza slice dangling precariously from the edge. It was a screenshot from a website I had been mining for inspiration—or rather, physical attributes. Porn stars, porn stars everywhere, each one more…memorable than the last. A veritable who's who of pouty lips and enhanced assets.

I scanned the faces and bodies, each one more Perfect than the last, yet none quite fitting the vision in my head. I tugged at my beard, a habit from when it was shorter, and took a bite of pizza. Cold, but still delicious.

The doorbell buzzed, startling me. Late for a delivery, probably. I lived above a pawn shop, and the delivery guys weren't always the sharpest tools in the shed. I shoved the printout under a pile of circuit boards and went to answer it.

Standing in the hallway was a petite woman with sharp eyes and even sharper cheekbones.

She had a stack of boxes balanced on one hip, and she was tapping her foot impatiently, eyeing me up and down.

“You must be the new engineer,” she said, her voice a low, sultry purr. “I’m Isabella, your new neighbor. I ordered some… equipment for my place, and they just dumped it all at my door.” She gestured to the boxes. “You mind giving me a hand?”

I smiled, scratching my head. “Sure, I can help with that. Didn’t know we had new neighbors.”

She flashed me a grin, revealing a dimple on her left cheek.

I noticed the boxes were stamped with various adult store labels. I raised an eyebrow.

"Relocating your personal collection?" I teased, pulling open my apartment door wider. "Come on in."

Isabella rolled her eyes, but couldn't hide the smirk. "More like restocking. Can’t have my customers complaining that I'm running low on supplies."

I quirked a brow, fighting a smile. "Customers? As in, you run some kind of...

business from your apartment?"

Isabella casually shrugged, stepping into my apartment and setting the boxes down on the futon chairs. "Let's just say I freelance in the adult industry. Sales, mostly. And a little consulting." She glanced around, taking in the cluttered space. "Wow, you have a lot of... stuff."

"Yeah, well, I'm working on a project," I replied, closing the door behind us. My gaze flicked to the boxes lining the couch, curiosity piqued. "So, consulting, huh? That sounds... interesting."

She chuckled, sitting down on one of the boxes and crossing her legs.

"It's a living. Now, Mr. Engineer, what kind of project keeps you so busy?" She looked around the room again, her gaze landing on the robot in the center. "And keeps you locked away in here like some kind of mad scientist?"

I laughed, running a hand through my hair. "Nothing that exciting, sadly. I'm building a... personal assistant. The ultimate one."

She raised an eyebrow. "A personal assistant, huh? Sounds kind of boring."

I shrugged. "It's more complex than it sounds. But yeah, I guess so. I want it to be able to do anything, you know?
