Chapter 40: The Inspection
The antiseptic smell in July’s bedroom was a sharp, clinical counterpoint to the lingering musk of sweat and desperation. It clung to the back of Mira’s throat. She watched from a plush lavender armchair, Kai perched silently on its arm, her hand a steadying weight on Mira’s shoulder.
Under the unforgiving glare of the bedside lamp, July trembled. Her black hair was stuck to her damp forehead, her grey eyes wide and glassy. Claire stood over her, a vision of cruel composure in her tiny skirt, one hand pinning July’s wrist to the mattress.
“Let’s have a proper look, then,” Claire said, her voice a low purr that brooked no argument. With her other hand, she pushed the hem of July’s white babydoll dress up to her waist. “Since you were so shy about it on stage.”
There it was. The reality of what the guillotine had done. Where a head should have been, a smooth, flat plane of scar tissue met the light, a pale, waxy cap on the shortened length of her shaft. It was utterly alien.
July whimpered, a broken sound, and tried to turn her face away.
“Ah, ah,” Claire chided, her grip tightening. “Look at it. You need to see what you’re working with now.” She released July’s wrist and traced the pad of her thumb over the scarred tip. July flinched as if burned.
“Don’t,” July whispered, her voice cracking.
“Does that feel like anything?” Claire asked, her tone one of genuine, horrifying curiosity. “Or is it just… numb?”
“Please, Claire.”
“Please what? You lost. This is what losing looks like.” Claire’s hand moved down, wrapping around the base of July’s cock. “Go on. Show us how it works now. Show us how you get off.”
Tears streamed down July’s cheeks, cutting clean lines through her makeup. Her hand, shaking violently, obeyed. She began to stroke herself, her movements frantic and uncoordinated. The slick sounds were all wrong, lacking the definitive rhythm of before. Her hips bucked, searching for a friction that wasn't there, her breath coming in ragged, choked gasps.
Mira felt a sympathetic twist deep in her own gut, the ghost of her own frustration echoing July’s. She knew what it was to have a body that betrayed you, to have a need with no proper outlet.
“It’s not… I can’t…” July sobbed, her hand working faster, a futile piston. “It doesn’t… nothing happens.”
Claire watched, her head tilted, a scientist observing a failed experiment. “All that effort. All that strain. And for what? A little shudder and a whole lot of nothing.” She leaned down, her lips close to July’s ear, her red hair a curtain around them. “You’re trying to knock on a door that isn’t there anymore, Juju. The bell’s gone. Everyone heard it ring for the last time.”
July’s hand finally stilled, falling away from the scarred flesh in a gesture of utter defeat. Her chest hitched, but the sobs stopped, cut off by a sharp, inward breath. She wiped her face with the back of her arm, smearing the black streaks of her makeup into a warrior’s mask.
She looked directly at Claire, her grey eyes clearing of their glassy sheen, replaced by a hard, flinty resolve. The vulnerability vanished, sealed away behind a wall of pure will.
“Is that it?” July’s voice was raw but steady, scraping out of her bruised throat. “You came all the way here, broke into my apartment, just to give a commentary on my malfunctioning dick?” She didn’t look away, her gaze locked on Claire’s. “Was the show not enough for you?”
The silence in the pastel room stretched, thick and heavy. Claire’s smirk faltered, the cruel arch of her eyebrow softening almost imperceptibly. She took a half-step back, her dominant posture loosening its grip on the space between them.
She looked at July, truly looked at her—not as a broken rival, but as the stubborn, brilliant designer who had faced her down on that crimson stage. A flicker of something other than triumph passed behind her green eyes.
“No,” Claire said, the word simple and quiet, devoid of its usual teasing lilt. “The show was… conclusive.” She gestured vaguely at the space between them, at the lamp still highlighting July’s altered body. “I came because I wanted to see if you were okay.”
She shoved her hands into the pockets of her tiny skirt, a surprisingly vulnerable gesture. “And because I needed to see for myself that you weren’t… shattered.”
July let out a short, sharp breath that wasn’t quite a laugh. “Well, I’m not.” She pulled the hem of her dress down, covering herself with a definitive tug of fabric. The act was not one of shame, but of reclamation. “The body is different. I’m not.”
Claire watched the movement, her expression unreadable. She gave a slow, single nod. “I can see that.”
“I can see that.” Claire’s gaze drifted from July’s defiant face back down to the shape of her under the dress. The raw, desperate energy from minutes before had curdled into a tense, static hum. “But the wiring is still live, even if the switch is broken. I can feel it from here.”
July’s jaw tightened. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
“It means you’re still wound tighter than a spring,” Claire said, crossing her arms over her small chest. “All that frustration has to go somewhere. Your brain is screaming for a finish line your body can’t cross anymore. Not like that.” She gestured at July’s lap. “But there are other roads.”
A bitter laugh escaped July. “Oh, really? You offering to draw me a map?”
“I’m offering to be the driver.” Claire’s voice was low, devoid of its usual mockery, which made the proposition sound even more shocking. “Let me fuck your ass. The nerves there don’t care about missing parts. They just report to headquarters.”
“No.” The rejection was instant, sharp as the guillotine’s snap. July’s cheeks flushed with a fresh wave of humiliation. “Get out.”
Claire didn’t move. She just watched the subtle tremor in July’s hands, the way her breathing was still too quick and shallow. She saw the sheer, undiluted need that was so potent it had a scent. “Suit yourself. Lie here in your pretty room and ache.”
She made a show of turning to leave, her steps slow and deliberate on the plush carpet. Each step echoed in the heavy silence.
“Wait.”
The word was a torn whisper. Claire stopped, glanced back over her shoulder.
July’s eyes were squeezed shut, as if she couldn’t bear to see her own surrender. Her pride was a visible casualty on the pastel sheets. A long, shaky exhale rattled from her chest. “Just… just do it.”
Claire turned fully, her expression unreadable. She didn’t gloat. She simply reached for the bottle of lubricant on the nightstand, the click of the cap deafening. She slicked her length, the sheer size of it a promise of a rough journey.
“This isn’t going to be gentle,” Claire stated, her voice matter-of-fact. She pushed the dress up again and positioned herself. “You’re too tense for gentle.”
The initial pressure was an invasion, a blunt, burning stretch that made July gasp and dig her nails into the sheets. She threw her head back, a strangled sound caught in her throat. It was too much, too soon, a brutal fullness that bordered on pain.
“Breathe through it,” Claire commanded, not stopping her steady, relentless push. “Or don’t. It doesn’t change the process.”
Then she was fully sheathed, a complete and overwhelming occupation. July felt stuffed, her body forced to accommodate a presence it had never willingly invited. Claire began to move, a hard, punishing rhythm that had nothing to do with pleasure and everything to do with function.
Each thrust was a jolt, a deep, internal hammering that shook July’s entire frame. She bit her lip, tasting blood, determined not to make a sound. Tears of frustration and overwhelming sensation leaked from the corners of her eyes. It was savage, mechanical, and utterly devoid of romance.
But slowly, insidiously, the signals began to get crossed. The brutal pounding started to spark something else, a different kind of fire that bypassed the dead zone of her cock and went straight to the core of her. A choked moan escaped her, unbidden.
“There it is,” Claire grunted, her own breath starting to come faster. She shifted her angle, driving deeper. “Stop fighting it.”
The sensation built, a terrifying wave cresting from a place July had never learned to rely on. It was clumsy and foreign, a chaotic storm of nerves demanding release. Her back arched off the bed, a broken cry tearing from her lungs as her body convulsed.
A raw, pulsing climax ripped through her, so different from anything she’d known. It was a relief so profound it felt like a seizure, draining every ounce of tension from her muscles and leaving her boneless and trembling on the soaked sheets.
Claire slowly pulled out, the sound wet and final in the sudden quiet.
July lay there, wrecked and breathing in ragged gulps. The frantic need was gone, replaced by a hollow, aching clarity. She had come, but the path to get there had been a brutal excavation. She stared at the soft pink ceiling, the reality of her future sex life dawning on her with cold, sharp certainty. It would never be simple again. It would always be a puzzle, a struggle, a negotiation with what was broken.
But as she dragged a trembling hand across her eyes, wiping away the sweat and tears, a stubborn resolve hardened in her gut. She would find a way. She always did.
