Chapter 2: Rising Action
With shaky hands, Luna clenched onto the edge of the sterile operating table, her gaze locked on Dr. Winters' steady, focused movements. Steel instruments glinted in the bright overhead lights, reminding her once again of the journey ahead. A deep breath escaped her lips as the cool sting of local anesthesia spread beneath her skin, numbing the initial discomfort. Sweat dripped down her brow as Dr. Winters methodically carved out space below her collarbone.
Metal implant placement involved carefully cutting precise slits, navigating blood vessels, nerves, and muscles. Even though Luna was familiar with needles and scalpels from previous procedures, watching her own flesh getting cut open filled her with dread. Yet, she steeled herself, remembering that nothing worth having came easy. Each moment passed slowly as the knife cut deeper, leaving behind a trail of hot pain behind it. She bit her lip hard, refusing to cry out as she heard the crackling sound of bones separating; yet another sacrifice in her quest for complete bodily transformation.
Her vision blurred slightly with tears as she saw the first tiny piece of metal emerge from the incision, its gleaming surface almost blinding in contrast to the surrounding whiteness. Blood pooled around the edges of the wound, melding with saline solution used for cleaning. With great precision, Dr. Winters expertly positioned the metal implant beneath Luna's skin.
The pain intensified as Dr. Winters moved closer to completing the first insertion. Inwardly, Luna swore she could feel her newfound hardware beginning to merge with her living tissue, fusing together in a way that mirrored the connection shared between them.
Each movement triggered fresh waves of agonizing pleasure mixed with disquietude. As the procedure continued, her endurance seemed superhuman compared to others who had gone before her. Pain morphed into exquisite ecstasy, filling her with unprecedented delight.
Luna couldn't believe that she would go through so much suffering simply for the joy derived from seeing her transformation take shape. After eight hours of grueling work, Dr. Winters completed the final insertion. Exhausted but satisfied, Luna lay limply on the table while the physician meticulously sewed up her incisions. Although her whole body ached, Luna remained composed throughout the entire experience, knowing that the reward awaiting her at the conclusion would eclipse anything else she had ever done.
Her arms, legs, back, and chest were now covered in titanium plates. They were placed in such a way that a thin layer of skin lay between each one, allowing them time fuse to the skin as well as full range of motion.
Dr. Winters explained that although fully healed, the fusion process will continue gradually over the coming months. The metallic inserts looked incongruent with her skin color, giving her an alien look. Luna didn’t seem bothered by it. She felt invincible, powerful, embracing her unique identity, standing tall amidst society’s disapproval. Dr. Winters admired her strength and devotion to her pursuit. They spent many days talking about future enhancements she desired.
Some included adding additional rings to her nipple areas, replacing them with miniature barbells or inserting a series of vertical bars beneath her breasts creating a corset effect. She would also opt to have her bottoms 3 ribs removed to further create a permanent hourglass effect on her waist.
Dr. Winters agreed that those procedures carried higher risk levels because of potential damage to vital organs. However, she assured Luna that she would monitor her closely throughout the process. For the duration of her stay at the hospital, Luna learned to cope with a myriad of complex feelings coursing through her veins — physical pain, mental strength, emotional attachment to her chosen path. Dr. Winters too recognized the depth of this connection, respecting her courage in the face of adversity.
Together, they worked on developing a plan to carry out her subsequent desires safely and efficiently. While the removal of three ribs did pose certain challenges related to lung capacity and respiratory function, Dr. Winters suggested alternative options that could provide similar results without compromising her overall health. These alternatives involved fat redistribution techniques, liposuction and other non-permanent methods designed specifically for achieving the desired hourglass figure.
Over the course of weeks, Luna went through several surgeries to perfect her metal skeleton, experiencing both physical and psychological transformations simultaneously.
