Chapter 1: Opening Image
Ankoku softly watched as Ombre bumbled about his apartment, unaware of the very man watching him.
He smiled, gently stroking Ombre through the screens. "Oh how I wish you were here..." he whispered, his voice barely audible over the hum of the monitors.
Ankoku's apartment was a dimly lit space, filled with the scent of aged wood and dusty trinkets. The walls were adorned with dark colors, the only light coming from the glow of the CCTV screens. The sofa, a gargantuan piece of furniture, was pushed against the wall, leaving a gaping expanse of floor. Ankoku sat on the floor, his back against the wall, his knees drawn up to his chest. He wore a red turtle neck sweater, black jeans, and a myriad of golden necklaces that glinted in the dim light.
He was a rich man. A very rich man. But, what has he used his wealth for?
Well, he has used his money to create a safe place for his dear Ombre. Down underground his home, there were multiple rooms... All filled with many things that Ombre liked. Stuffed toys, plush furniture and blankets... Even a room with candy stations...
That is what he has been planning.
He'll take Ombre from his home and give him a new one.
One where Ombre will never have to leave him....
Ever.
Ankoku's eyes narrowed as he watched Ombre trip over a loose floorboard in his own apartment. He could see the frustration on his face, the way he kicked the board in retaliation. Ankoku chuckled, "Still as clumsy as ever, Ombre." He whispered, his voice laced with affection.
Ombre, oblivious to Ankoku's watchful gaze, pulled out his small notebook from his backpack. He started to scribble, his tongue sticking out in concentration. Ankoku could see the lines of a new drawing forming, the way Ombre's hand moved with such fluidity. He was always drawing, always writing.
It was his way of coping, Ankoku knew. A way to escape the world that had hurt him so. Ankoku's grip on his own notebook tightened, his knuckles turning white. He knew all too well about the world's cruelty.
Ankoku's phone rang, the shrill sound piercing the silence of his apartment. He glanced at the caller ID, his brows furrowing. "What do you want, Kaito?" he answered, his voice a low growl.
"Ankoku, my man!" Kaito's voice boomed through the phone, as loud and obnoxious as ever. "Listen, you know that plan of yours? Well, I just found the perfect drug that's help you." Kaito said, his voice filled with excitement.
Ankoku rolled his eyes, "I don't need drugs, Kaito. I need you to find out who's been following Ombre." He said, his voice stern.
Kaito chuckled, "Oh, come on Ankoku. You know I can't do that for free. Besides, this drug is amazing. It's called 'Whisper'. It's a new designer drug, it makes people... compliant. They'll do anything you say." Kaito said, his voice laced with greed.
Ankoku's grip on the phone tightened, "I don't want to control people, Kaito. I want to protect my sweetheart."
"Yeah, yeah. But I also found one that knocks them out too!"
Ankoku paused. That was perfect. He could feed that to Ombre, inside a drink to keep it hidden, and Ombre will pass out... Then he could take him and...
"Ankoku, are you still there?" Kaito's voice broke through his thoughts.
"Yeah, I'm here." Ankoku replied, his voice distant. "Send me the 'Whisper'. I'll pay you triple if it works as you say it does."
Kaito chuckled, "That's the spirit! I'll send it over tonight. You're gonna love it, Ankoku. It's a game-changer."
Ankoku hung up the phone, his mind racing. He looked back at the screens, his eyes softening as he watched Ombre strum his small guitar, his eyes closed in concentration.
The melody was soft, a gentle tune that seemed to fill the room with a sense of peace. Ankoku's lips curved into a small smile, his eyes never leaving the screen.
"Still playing that old thing, I see." He whispered, his voice barely audible. He knew Ombre couldn't hear him, but it didn't stop him from talking to him. It was their thing, their little secret. Ankoku would talk to him, and Ombre would play his guitar. It was their way of communicating, their way of being close.
Ankoku's phone buzzed again, this time with a message from Kaito. "The 'Whisper' is on its way.
It should be here by tomorrow morning. I'll let you know when I have it." Kaito's message read, a smirk playing on Ankoku's lips. He knew Kaito was just trying to make a sale, but he also knew that Kaito was a man of his word. If he said the drug would work, then it would.
Ankoku's eyes flicked back to the screens, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched Ombre. He was still playing his guitar, his fingers dancing over the strings with a grace that Ankoku had never seen before. He was lost in his own world, his eyes closed, his head tilted back.
Eventually, Ombre sighed. He left his room and went to grab a snack, frowning when he realized he didn't have any food.
Ankoku mumbled, "You poor thing..." He brushed his hand against the monitor, "I promise when I bring you here... I'll never let you go hungry, little one..." Ankoku whispered, his voice barely audible as he watched Ombre rummage through his empty fridge. He knew he should tell Ombre to come over, to share a meal, but he also knew that Ombre was too proud to ask for help.
But that wasn't going to matter soon...
The next morning....
Ankoku woke up to the sound of his doorbell ringing. He groaned, rubbing his eyes as he glanced at the time. It was barely 8 AM. He stumbled out of bed, his feet sinking into the plush carpet as he made his way to the door. He opened it to find Kaito standing there, a smirk on his face and a small package in his hand.
"Morning, sunshine!" Kaito chirped, pushing past Ankoku and into the apartment. "I've got your little present right here." He said, holding up the package.
Ankoku raised an eyebrow, "You're early." He said, his voice still groggy from sleep. "Though you were going to be here at lunch." Ankoku replied, his voice still laced with sleep. He took the package from Kaito, his eyes scanning the label. "This is it?" He asked, his brows furrowing as he turned the package over in his hands.
"Yep!" Kaito replied, his eyes gleaming with excitement. "It's the real deal. I've got a friend who's a chemist, he made it for me. It's a one-time use, so use it wisely." He said, his voice filled with a sense of importance.
Ankoku nodded, his eyes never leaving the package. "I will." He said, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I'll use it to keep you safe, Ombre."
Kaito chuckled, "Well, that's the spirit! You know, I've got a few other things I can get you if you need them. I've got a guy who can make anything you want."
Ankoku's eyes narrowed, "I don't need anything else, Kaito. Just this. And I'll pay you triple for it."
Kaito's eyes widened, "Triple? That's a lot of money, Ankoku! Are you sure?"
Ankoku nodded, "I'm sure.
I'll transfer the money now." He said, pulling out his phone and tapping away at the screen. Kaito watched him, his eyes gleaming with greed. "You're a man of your word, Ankoku. I like that." He said, his voice filled with a sense of satisfaction.
Ankoku ignored him, his eyes flicking back to the package in his hands. He could feel the weight of it, the potential it held. He knew he was playing with fire, but he didn't care. He would do anything to keep Ombre safe.
Kaito cleared his throat, "Well, I should be going. I've got other...
things to attend to." He said, his voice trailing off as he made his way to the door. Ankoku didn't respond, his eyes still fixed on the package in his hands.
Kaito paused at the door, his hand on the knob. "You know, Ankoku, you're a good man. You've got a good heart. Don't let this... whatever it is, change you." He said, his voice filled with a sense of concern. Ankoku looked up, his eyes meeting Kaito's.
He saw the genuine concern in his friend's eyes, and it took him aback. He wasn't used to people caring about him, not like this. "I won't," he replied, his voice steady. "I just want to keep him safe, Kaito. That's all."
Kaito nodded, a small smile playing on his lips. "I know, man. I know. But remember, there's a fine line between keeping someone safe and taking away their freedom. Don't cross it." With that, he left, closing the door softly behind him.
Ankoku was left alone with his thoughts, the package still clutched in his hands. A wide grin appeared on his face as he ran into the kitchen, unboxing the package as he gathered items to make a "special drink." He hummed a tune, his eyes gleaming with excitement. He knew this was wrong, but he couldn't help it. He just wanted to see Ombre safe and sound, in his arms, forever.
He poured the 'Whisper' into a glass of orange juice, stirring it gently until it dissolved completely. He then added a sprinkle of sugar, just enough to mask the taste of the drug. He smirked, "You're going to love this, Ombre." He whispered to himself, as if Ombre was already there with him.
Ankoku then picked up his phone, dialing Ombre's number. He paced around his apartment, waiting for Ombre to pick up.
After a few rings, Ombre's voice came through, breathless and slightly panicked. "Ankoku? Is that you?"
Ankoku chuckled, "Yes, it's me, Ombre. Why do you sound so out of breath?"
Ombre sighed, "I was just... practicing my guitar. You know how it gets when I'm trying to learn a new song."
Ankoku smiled, "I do. Listen, I was thinking... Why don't you come over for lunch? I've made something special for you."
There was a pause on the other end of the line before Ombre responded, "You know I can't, Ankoku. I..." He seemed afraid... "I can't...." Ombre's voice trailed off, the fear in his voice palpable even through the phone line.
Ankoku's smile faded, replaced by a look of concern. "What's wrong, Ombre? You sound scared." He asked, his voice softening.
Ombre hesitated before speaking, "Remember my... father...?
He's been... following me. I think he's outside my apartment right now." Ombre's voice was barely above a whisper, the fear in his voice palpable.
Ankoku's grip on the phone tightened, his knuckles turning white. "Stay where you are, Ombre. I'm coming to get you." He said, his voice stern and commanding.
Ombre hesitated before responding, "Ankoku, no... You don't have to... I can handle this... I just... I just need some time to think..." His voice was shaky, but there was a determination in it that Ankoku had never heard before.
Ankoku's heart ached at the sound of Ombre's voice.
He knew that Ombre was trying to be strong, but he could hear the fear in his voice. He knew that Ombre's father was a dangerous man, a man who had hurt Ombre in the past. He couldn't just sit back and do nothing.
"Ombre, listen to me," Ankoku said, his voice firm yet gentle. "You're not alone in this. I'm here for you. I'm coming over, and we're going to figure this out together. Okay?"
There was a pause before Ombre responded, his voice barely above a whisper. "Okay... But Ankoku, please be careful.
I don't want anything to happen to you." Ombre's voice was filled with worry, his words barely audible over the line.
Ankoku's heart ached at the sound of Ombre's voice. He knew that Ombre was trying to be strong, but he could hear the fear in his voice.
"I will be, Ombre. I promise," Ankoku replied, his voice firm yet gentle. "I'll be there in a few minutes. Stay inside, and don't open the door for anyone but me.
Understand?" Ankoku's voice was stern, leaving no room for argument.
"Y-yes, I understand," Ombre replied, his voice barely above a whisper.
Ankoku hung up the phone, his heart pounding in his chest. He grabbed his keys and rushed out of the apartment, his mind racing. He knew he had to get to Ombre, to keep him safe. He couldn't let his father hurt him again.
As he drove to Ombre's apartment, Ankoku's mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. He thought about Ombre, about the way he laughed, the way he played his guitar. He thought about the way his eyes lit up when he talked about something he loved.
He thought about the way he looked at him, with a mix of fear and admiration. Ankoku knew that Ombre was scared of him, of the intensity of his feelings, but he also knew that Ombre cared for him deeply. He just needed to show him that he could be trusted, that he would never hurt him.
Ankoku pulled up to Ombre's apartment building, his tires screeching as he came to a halt. He jumped out of the car, his eyes scanning the area for any sign of Ombre's father. He saw nothing, but he could feel a sense of unease in the air.
He rushed towards the entrance, his heart pounding in his chest. He took the stairs two at a time, his breath coming in short gasps as he reached Ombre's floor. He paused outside Ombre's door, listening for any signs of struggle. He heard nothing, but he could feel a sense of dread washing over him.
He knocked softly, "Ombre, it's me. Let me in." He heard the sound of footsteps approaching the door, and then the sound of the lock clicking open. The door creaked open, revealing Ombre standing there, his eyes wide with fear.
Ankoku's heart ached at the sight of him.
Ombre's eyes were red and puffy, his face pale. He was wearing his prosthetic mask, the half of his face that was scarred and injured hidden behind it. Ankoku could see the fear in his eyes, the way his body was tense, ready to flee at any moment.
"Ombre...," Ankoku whispered, his voice filled with concern. He reached out, his hand hovering in the air, unsure if he should touch him. He knew Ombre hated being touched, but he also knew that he needed comfort right now.
Ombre looked at his hand, his eyes filled with fear. "Ankoku...," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper. "I... I can't... please don't..."
Ankoku nodded, "it's okay. I won't." Ankoku replied softly, dropping his hand back to his side. "But I'm here now. You're safe." He stepped inside, closing the door behind him and locking it securely. He turned back to Ombre, his eyes searching the room for any signs of forced entry or struggle.
Ombre stood there, his eyes darting from Ankoku to the door and back again. "Ankoku... I... I don't know if you are." His voice was barely above a whisper, filled with fear and uncertainty.
Ankoku's brows furrowed in concern. "What do you mean, Ombre? What happened?" He took a step closer, his voice gentle yet firm.
"Ombre, what happened? Did your father come here? Did he hurt you?" Ankoku's eyes scanned the room, taking in the small apartment, the cluttered desk, the guitar propped up in the corner. He noticed a few things out of place, a broken vase on the floor, a picture frame askew. His heart pounded in his chest as he waited for Ombre's response.
Ombre's eyes widened, and he took a step back, his hand reaching up to touch his mask. "Y-yes.." Ombre stammered, his eyes darting nervously around the room. "He was here. He... he broke in." His voice was barely above a whisper, his body trembling slightly.
Ankoku's heart raced as he took in Ombre's words. He scanned the room again, his eyes landing on the broken vase, the scattered papers on the desk. He could see the signs of a struggle, the way the furniture was slightly askew. His hands clenched into fists at his sides, his jaw tightening as he fought to control his anger.
"Where is he now?" Ankoku asked, his voice low and dangerous. He wanted to find Ombre's father, to make him pay for hurting his sweetheart.
'I don't know..."
Ankoku nodded, before realizing this was the perfect time to strike! He handed Ombre the "drink" he made, "Hey, Ombre... This is a gift for you." Ankoku said, holding out the glass of orange juice with a warm smile. "I made it special just for you."
Ombre looked at the glass, then back at Ankoku, his eyes filled with suspicion. "Ankoku... what did you put in it?" He asked, his voice barely above a whisper.
Ankoku chuckled, "Nothing much, just a little something to help you relax. You've been through a lot today, and I thought you could use some rest." He held out the glass further, his eyes softening as he looked at Ombre.
Ombre hesitated for a moment before taking the glass from Ankoku's hand. "Well... I do like orange juice so..." Ombre said innocently, taking a sip of the drink. "Are you sure you added anything? This just tastes like orange juic...." He groaned, feeling his body relax against his own control. He began to feel sleepy as he felt the world spinning.
He tried to keep his eyes open, but they felt heavy, and he couldn't fight it. He looked at Ankoku, his vision blurring, "Ankoku... what did you...?" His voice trailed off as he felt his body give in to the drug's effects.
Ankoku watched Ombre, his heart pounding in his chest as he saw the drug take effect. He felt a pang of guilt, but he pushed it aside. He had to do this. He had to protect Ombre.
He caught Ombre as he started to fall, lowering him gently onto the couch.
He brushed a strand of hair away from Ombre's face, his heart aching at the sight of him so vulnerable. He knew he was crossing a line, but he couldn't help it. He just wanted to keep Ombre safe.
Ankoku looked around the apartment, his mind racing. He knew he had to act fast. He grabbed a blanket from the back of the couch and draped it over Ombre, tucking him in tightly. He then started to gather Ombre's things, packing them into a bag. He knew he couldn't leave anything behind that would make Ombre want to come back here.
He grabbed Ombre's guitar, the one he always played when he was stressed or overwhelmed. He knew it was Ombre's favorite, and he wanted to make sure he had it with him. He also grabbed his notebook, the one he always wrote in when he was trying to sort out his thoughts.
As he packed, he couldn't help but feel a sense of unease. He knew he was doing the right thing, but he also knew that he was taking a big risk. He was crossing a line, and he knew that there would be consequences. But he couldn't help it.
Once he had everything packed, he turned back to Ombre.
He stood there for a moment, just looking at him. He was so peaceful, so vulnerable. He knew he was doing the right thing, but he also knew that he was taking away Ombre's freedom. He was making a choice for him, and he hoped that one day Ombre would understand why he did it.
He scooped Ombre up into his arms, cradling him close to his chest. He felt Ombre's body relax into his, his head resting on his shoulder. He took a deep breath, inhaling Ombre's scent. It was a mix of soap and something sweet, something uniquely Ombre.
Ankoku carried him out of the apartment, his heart pounding in his chest as he made his way down the stairs and out to his car. He placed Ombre gently in the passenger seat, buckling him in before getting in the driver's seat and starting the engine.
As they drove, Ankoku couldn't help but steal glances at Ombre. He looked so peaceful, so innocent. It was a side of him that Ankoku rarely got to see, and it made his heart ache. He knew that this was wrong, that he was taking away Ombre's freedom, but he also knew that he couldn't let him go. Not now, not ever.
He was his, and he would do whatever it took to keep him safe.
Ankoku drove through the city, his eyes scanning the streets for any sign of Ombre's father. He knew he was out there somewhere, and he didn't want to take any chances. He took a few detours, making sure they weren't being followed before finally pulling up to his apartment building.
He parked the car in the underground garage, his heart pounding in his chest as he unbuckled Ombre and scooped him up into his arms. He carried him up to his apartment, his eyes never leaving Ombre's face. He was so peaceful, so trusting. It made Ankoku's heart ache.
He knew that this wasn't how things were supposed to be, that he was taking away Ombre's freedom, but he couldn't help it. He had to keep him safe.
Ankoku carried him into his house, walking into the basement. He flipped a switch, revealing multiple different rooms, each one filled with things that Ombre likes. Food, toys, hobbies... Everything.
He had thought of everything. He wanted Ombre to feel at home, to feel safe. He wanted him to know that he was loved, that he was cherished.
Ankoku laid Ombre down on the bed in the room he had prepared for him. It was soft and cozy, with a thick comforter and a pile of pillows. He had even added a few of Ombre's favorite things from his apartment, a few books, a small statue of a cat that Ombre loved, and a framed picture of the two of them together.
He brushed a strand of hair away from Ombre's face, his heart aching at the sight of him so peaceful.
But he also knew he had to punish Ombre if he were to... disobey.
He had to make sure Ombre understood the gravity of his actions and the consequences that came with them.
Ankoku stood there for a moment, his eyes scanning the room. He had spent hours preparing this space for Ombre, making sure it was comfortable and inviting. But he also knew that he had to make sure Ombre understood that he was not in control here. Ankoku was.
He walked over to the dresser, pulling out a small wooden box. He opened it, revealing a set of handcuffs and a blindfold. He picked them up, his eyes never leaving Ombre's face.
He knew what he was about to do was wrong, but he also knew that he had to make sure Ombre understood the gravity of his actions and the consequences that came with them.
He walked back over to the bed, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew that Ombre was going to be scared, that he was going to be angry, but he also knew that he had to do this. He had to make sure Ombre understood that he was not in control here.
He gently placed the handcuffs on the bed, his eyes never leaving Ombre's face.
Ombre stirred in his sleep, but didn't wake up.
Ankoku watched him, his heart pounding in his chest. He knew he was about to do something that would change everything between them, but he couldn't help it.
He picked up the blindfold, his fingers tracing the soft fabric. He knew that Ombre hated being touched, that he hated being restrained, but he also knew that he had to do this.
He leaned down, his breath hot on Ombre's ear. "Ombre," he whispered, his voice barely above a whisper.
"I need you to wake up for me, sweetheart." He gently shook Ombre's shoulder, his touch feather-light. Ombre stirred, his eyelids fluttering open. He looked up at Ankoku, his eyes filled with confusion and fear.
"Ankoku?" he murmured, his voice groggy. "What's... what's going on?" He looked around the room, his eyes taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. He tried to sit up, but Ankoku's hand on his shoulder kept him in place.
"Shh, it's okay," Ankoku soothed, his voice gentle. "You're safe now.
I've got you," Ankoku murmured, his voice soothing as he gently stroked Ombre's hair. Ombre's eyes darted around the room, taking in the unfamiliar surroundings. He looked back at Ankoku, fear and confusion etched on his face.
"Where am I? Ombre asked, his voice barely above a whisper. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight of him so vulnerable. He knew he had to explain, but he also knew that he had to be careful. He didn't want to scare Ombre any more than he already was.
"You don't have to know that right now." Ankoku replied, his voice gentle yet firm. "What you need to know is that you're safe here with me. I won't let anyone hurt you." He kept his hand on Ombre's shoulder, his touch light yet reassuring.
Ombre looked up at him, his eyes filled with fear and uncertainty. "But... but what about my apartment? My things? I can't just leave them..." His voice trailed off as he looked around the room again, taking in the strange surroundings.
Ankoku smiled softly at him, "Don't worry about that right now. I've taken care of everything. Your things are here, and I've made sure your apartment looks like no one's been there.
Ombre's eyes widened in shock. "You... you went to my apartment? But how...?" He trailed off, his mind racing with questions.
Ankoku nodded, "I did. I had to make sure you were safe. And I brought some of your things here, so you'd feel more comfortable." He gestured to the room, indicating the familiar items scattered about.
Ombre looked around, his eyes landing on his guitar in the corner, his notebook on the nightstand, and even his favorite plush toy on the bed. He looked back at Ankoku, confusion and fear warring in his eyes.
"But... but why? Why did you bring me here, Ankoku-"
But before he could finish, Ankoku hushed him with a kiss to the forehead. "There, there... There's no need to ask so many questions." He said, his voice sinisterly soft and kind, "Just... relax, okay?" Ankoku's voice was low and soothing, but there was an undercurrent of steel that Ombre couldn't ignore. He nodded slowly, his eyes never leaving Ankoku's face.
Ankoku smiled, a slow, predatory smile that sent a shiver down Ombre's spine. "Good," he murmured, his hand still resting on Ombre's shoulder. "Now, I need you to do something for me."
Ombre's brows furrowed in confusion. "What do you mean? What do you want me to do?" His voice was barely above a whisper, his heart pounding in his chest.
He knew he had to be careful, that he had to tread lightly. He didn't want to scare Ombre, but he also knew that he had to make sure Ombre understood the gravity of his actions and the consequences that came with them.
Ankoku's hand tightened on Ombre's shoulder, his grip firm yet gentle. "I need you to trust me, Ombre," he said, his voice low and steady. "I need you to do exactly as I say, without question."
Ombre's eyes widened, and he swallowed hard, trying to push down the fear that was rising in his chest. I trust you, Ankoku," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "But...
but what if I don't want to?" Ombre's voice trembled, his eyes darting nervously between Ankoku and the objects on the bed.
Ankoku's smile faded, replaced by a look of stern determination. "You don't have a choice, Ombre. You made your choice when you decided to leave your apartment without telling me. You made your choice when you decided to hide from your father. And now, you have to face the consequences."
Ombre's eyes widened in shock, his breath hitching in his throat. "But... but I didn't know... I didn't know what would happen..." His voice trailed off, his eyes filling with tears. "Please don't hurt me..." Ombre's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes filled with unshed tears. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight, but he knew he had to be firm. He couldn't let Ombre's fear and uncertainty deter him from his plan.
Ankoku picked up the handcuffs from the bed, holding them up for Ombre to see.
"These are going to help you understand," Ankoku said, his voice firm yet gentle. "You need to learn that you can't run from your problems, Ombre. You need to face them head-on, and these will help you do that."
Ombre's eyes widened in fear as he looked at the handcuffs, then back at Ankoku. Why do you have to hurt me?" Ombre's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes filled with fear and betrayal. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight, but he knew he had to stay strong. He had to make Ombre understand.
"I don't want to hurt you, Ombre," Ankoku replied, his voice gentle yet firm. "But sometimes, pain is the only way to learn. You need to understand that you can't run from your problems. You need to face them, head-on."
Ombre's eyes filled with tears, and he shook his head. "But... but I'm scared. I don't want to be hurt." His voice trembled, and Ankoku could see the fear in his eyes.
"Please, Ankoku, I don't want to be hurt. I just want to be safe." Ombre's voice was barely above a whisper, his eyes filled with unshed tears. He had to make Ombre understand that he was in control, that he was the one who would keep him safe.
"Ombre, listen to me," Ankoku said, his voice low and steady. "I know you're scared, and that's okay. But you have to trust me."
Gently, Ankoku cuffed Ombre's hand together, then grabbed a lash from a secret closet."I just can't have you leave me. Not again."
Ombre whimpered, his eyes darting between Ankoku and the lash in his hand. "Please, Ankoku, not this. I can't... I can't take it." His voice was barely above a whisper, his body trembling with fear and memories of past pain.
Ankoku's heart ached at the sight of Ombre so vulnerable, but he knew he had to stay strong. "I know this is hard, Ombre," he said, his voice gentle yet firm. "But you need to trust me. I won't hurt you more than you can handle. I promise," Ankoku murmured, his voice barely above a whisper. He could see the fear in Ombre's eyes, the way his body was tense, ready to flee at any moment.
"When I hit you with the lash, I want you to count."
Ankoku's voice was steady, his eyes locked onto Ombre's. "One for each time you've disobeyed me.
Ombre nodded, his eyes wide with fear. "Y-yes," he stammered, his voice barely audible. "One for each time I disobeyed you."
Ankoku nodded, satisfied with Ombre's response. He took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was to come. He knew this was going to be hard, but he also knew that it was necessary. He had to make Ombre understand the gravity of his actions and the consequences that came with them.
He raised the lash, his hand steady.
Ombre's eyes widened in fear, and he flinched, his body tensing as if expecting the blow. Ankoku paused, his heart pounding in his chest. He could see the fear in Ombre's eyes, the way his body was shaking, and he felt a pang of guilt. But he knew he had to do this.
"One," Ankoku said, his voice firm yet gentle. He brought the lash down, the sound of it cracking through the air like a whip. Ombre gasped, his body jerking as the lash made contact with his back. He could see the red mark already forming, and he felt a twinge of satisfaction.
This was necessary, he told himself. This was for Ombre's own good.
Ombre's breath hitched, and he let out a soft whimper, his body trembling. "One," he whispered, his voice barely audible.
Ankoku nodded, his heart aching at the sight of Ombre in pain. But he pushed the feeling aside, focusing on the task at hand. He raised the lash again, his hand steady.
"Two," he said, his voice firm yet gentle. He brought the lash down again, the sound of it cracking through the air once more. This time, Ombre let out a small cry, his body jerking as the lash made contact with his skin.
His eyes watered, and he bit his lip to keep from screaming. Ankoku watched him, his heart aching at the sight of Ombre in pain. But he knew he had to continue, had to make sure Ombre understood the consequences of his actions.
"Three," Ankoku said, his voice steady. He brought the lash down again, the sound of it cracking through the air like a whip. Ombre's body tensed, and he let out a soft whimper, his breath coming in short gasps. He could see the tears streaming down Ombre's face, the way his body was shaking, and he felt a pang of guilt.
"Four," Ankoku said, his voice firm yet gentle. Ombre let out a small cry, his body jerking as the lash made contact with his skin. He could see the red marks forming, and he felt a twinge of satisfaction.
"Five," Ankoku said, his voice steady. This time, Ombre let out a small scream, his body tensing as the lash made contact with his skin.
Ankoku paused, his heart pounding in his chest as he watched Ombre's body shake with sobs. He knew he had to keep going, but seeing Ombre like this was tearing him apart.
"Ombre," Ankoku said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. "Look at me."
Ombre sniffled, trying to stop his sobs as he turned his head to look at Ankoku. His eyes were red and puffy, tears streaming down his cheeks.
"You're doing so well, sweetheart," Ankoku murmured, his voice gentle.
"Just a little more, okay? You can do this."
Ombre nodded, his breath hitching as he tried to hold back his sobs. Ankoku could see the determination in his eyes, and it made his heart swell with pride.
"Six," Ankoku said, his voice firm yet gentle. Ombre let out a small cry, his body tensing as the lash made contact with his skin. Ankoku could see the red welts forming, and he felt a pang of guilt, but he pushed it aside. He had to finish this.
"Seven," Ankoku said, his voice steady.
Blood started to pour out of the marks, and Ombre's cries grew louder. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight of him in so much pain, but he knew he had to finish this.
"Eight," Ankoku said, his voice barely above a whisper. He brought the lash down gently this time, not wanting to cause too much more damage. Ombre let out a soft whimper, his body shaking with sobs.
"Nine," Ankoku said, his voice gentle. He dropped the lash, unable to bring it down again. He couldn't bear to see Ombre in any more pain.
Ombre's body shook with sobs, his breath coming in short gasps.
Ankoku watched him, his heart aching at the sight of his best friend in so much pain. He had never wanted to hurt Ombre, but he knew that this was necessary.
Ankoku walked over to Ombre, his footsteps echoing in the silent room. He could see the red welts on Ombre's back, the blood that was starting to dry and crust over. He had to be strong, for both of their sakes.
He reached out, gently touching Ombre's shoulder.
Ombre flinched at his touch, his body tensing as if expecting more pain. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight, but he knew he had to be careful.
"Shh, it's okay," Ankoku murmured, his voice low and soothing. "I'm not going to hurt you anymore. I just need you to understand that you can't run away from me."
Ombre sniffled, not answering.
Ankoku sighed, running a hand through his hair. He knew he had to be patient, had to give Ombre time to process what had just happened. He walked over to the dresser, pulling out a first aid kit. He turned back to Ombre, who was still curled up on the bed, his body shaking with sobs.
"Come on, sweetheart," Ankoku said softly, sitting down on the bed next to him. "Let me clean you up."
Ombre flinched at his touch, but Ankoku was gentle, careful not to cause any more pain. He cleaned the wounds on Ombre's back, applying ointment and bandages with careful precision.
Ombre was trembling violently, at the assumption that Ankoku was going to hurt him again.
Ankoku could see the fear in his eyes, and it made his heart ache. He wanted to reassure him, to tell him that he would never hurt him again, but he knew that words were not enough. He had to show him.
Ombre hesitated for a moment before turning his head to look at Ankoku. His eyes were red and puffy, tears still streaming down his cheeks. Ankoku's heart ached at the sight, but he knew he had to be strong.
"I'm sorry," Ankoku said, his voice filled with sincerity. "I never wanted to hurt you like that.
I needed you to understand that you can't run away from me, Ombre. You can't hide from your problems. You have to face them, head-on." I don't understand. Why do you have to hurt me to make me understand?" "It's not about hurting you, Ombre. It's about making you see the consequences of your actions. You can't just leave me, Ombre. You can't just run away. You have to stay with me, no matter what." "But...
