Chapter 6: The Morning Reckoning
The neon glow-sticks cast a sickly blue light across the ceiling. Ellie watched them for what felt like hours, listening to the sound of Dex’s breathing, feeling the weight of his arm across her waist. It was a cage of flesh and heat. The ache between her legs was a deep, throbbing punctuation to the night’s events. A soreness that felt like a brand.
Slowly, carefully, as the first grey light of dawn began to bleed around the curtains, she peeled his arm away. It fell heavily to the mattress. She held her breath, sliding her body toward the edge of the narrow bed. The cool air of the room hit her skin, raising goosebumps. Her feet found the worn rug.
She stood.
His hand shot out, a blur of motion. Fingers like iron bands closed around her wrist.
A startled yelp escaped her before she could stop it. He yanked, hard, and the world tilted. She landed back on the mattress with a soft thump, the breath knocked from her lungs. He was already moving, a shadow of solid muscle in the half-light, rolling on top of her. He pinned her wrists above her head with one large hand. The other went to his jeans, shoved down just enough.
He was already hard. The thick length of him pressed against her stomach, insistent, hot.
“Leaving so soon?” he rasped, his voice shredded by sleep and something darker. His eyes were barely open, but they held hers with a terrifying focus. “We’re not done.”
“Dex—” she protested, but it was weak, a whisper.
He didn’t listen. He never listened. He shifted his hips, nudged her legs apart with his knee. She was still slick from him, from hours before, and he used that, pushing the head of his cock against her entrance. There was no gentleness, no seeking permission. It was a blunt, physical claim.
He entered her in one solid, unforgiving thrust.
She cried out, a sharp sound swallowed by the pillow. He was bigger like this, in the ruthless morning, her body tight and protesting the renewed invasion. The stretch burned, a raw, bright pain that quickly melted back into that same obscene fullness.
“Fuck,” he groaned, dropping his forehead to hers. He didn’t move for a second, just let her feel him, buried to the hilt. “Been thinking about this all night. Dreaming about it. This cunt.”
Then he set a pace that was pure punishment. Short, hard drives that stole the air from her lungs. The bed slammed against the wall with a rhythmic, telling crack. Each thrust jolted through her, a jarring possession. His grip on her wrists was relentless.
“Look at you,” he grunted, his breath hot and sour with sleep against her face. “Taking it. You love this. Your tight little pussy is sucking me right back in.”
She hated his words. She hated how they coiled in her stomach, hot and shameful. Her hips betrayed her, lifting to meet a particularly deep plunge. A moan rattled out of her throat.
“Yeah,” he hissed, a predator hearing its prey. He changed his angle, pounding up into her, and the friction shifted, becoming something else. A crude, building pleasure began to unravel the pain. Her nails scraped at his palm holding her down.
He released her wrists suddenly. His hands grabbed her hips, digging into the bone, lifting her to meet every brutal stroke. The slapping sound of their bodies was obscenely loud. She clawed at his shoulders, his back, her fingers catching on the ridges of old ink.
“Come for me,” he demanded, his voice guttural. “Do it. I wanna feel you clamp down on my cock.”
He shoved a hand between them, his thumb finding her clit, rough and direct. The dual sensation—the deep, pounding invasion and the sharp, pinpoint focus—was too much. It splintered her. Her orgasm ripped through her with a violence that felt like coming apart, muscles seizing around him in frantic, fluttering pulses. She bit her own arm to keep from screaming.
That was all it took. He swore, a filthy, beautiful curse, and hammered into her three more times, hilting himself with a final, shuddering grind. She felt the hot jet of his release, another claiming, painting her insides. He collapsed on top of her, his weight crushing, his face buried in the crook of her neck. They were both slick with sweat, gasping.
The room came back in pieces. The blue glow-sticks. The dust motes dancing in a sliver of dawn light. The smell of sex and sleep and him.
After a minute, he pushed himself up on his elbows. He looked down at her, his expression unreadable. He pulled out slowly. A wet, uncomfortable trickle followed. He didn’t kiss her. He just swiped a thumb over her bottom lip, smearing it, then got off the bed and pulled his jeans up.
“They’ll be gone in an hour,” he said, his back to her as he buttoned his fly. His tone was casual, as if discussing the weather. “I’ve got to open the shop at eight. Be here when I get back.”
He didn’t wait for an answer. He just walked out, closing her bedroom door with a soft, final click.
Ellie lay in the wreckage of her sheets, feeling the cold air dry the sweat on her skin. The house began to wake up. The distant murmur of her mother’s voice. The groan of plumbing. A normal morning in a normal house.
She curled onto her side, pressing her thighs together. The soreness was profound now, a palpable reminder. He’d marked her, inside and out. And the most terrifying part wasn’t the violation.
It was the hunger that remained, curled hot and dormant in her belly, already waiting for the sound of his truck returning.
