Chapter 1: Underdog on the Grid
it's my first f1 race an i win the race with an 30 minute lead.
the crowd is going wild, the cameras flashing, the commentators screaming into their mics. but i don’t hear any of it. i’m too busy staring at the checkered flag, the black-and-white squares blurring in my vision as my brain tries to process what just happened.
i won.
i actually won.
the car beneath me is a wreck—exhaust hanging loose, suspension groaning, the engine screaming like a dying animal—but i don’t care. i don’t care that the Minardi is a glorified shopping cart compared to the million-dollar monsters behind me. i don’t care that the mechanics are already scrambling to keep the thing from falling apart before i even cross the line.
