Lilia's shoes whispered secrets to the laboratory floor, slipping as she navigated between rows of tables plastered with errant scraps of paper, well-thumbed manuals, textbooks left haphazardly open to stumbled-upon equations.
The faint scent of chemical compounds still lingered in the air, like the ghost of a memory long faded, infusing the atmosphere with an intoxicating cocktail of nostalgia and curiosity.
