Chapter 14: Reclamation Part 2
The click-clack of her Louboutins echoed sharply on the garage floor, a staccato counterpoint to the frantic drumming of her heart. Kacey slid into the driver's seat of her sensible sedan, the contrast between the mundane car and the incendiary creature within it almost laughable. The cool leather pressed against the sheer nylon of her stockings, a whisper against her skin. She adjusted the rearview mirror, catching a glimpse of the predator she’d crafted: blonde hair gleaming, crimson lips stark, eyes dark pools of intent. The ache between her legs, a constant throb since she’d fastened the suspender belt, intensified as she imagined Tony’s reaction. She started the engine, the mundane rumble jarring against the electric anticipation humming through her veins.
The drive was a blur of hedgerows and winding country lanes. Normally, she’d admire the rolling hills bathed in late afternoon sun, but today the landscape was merely an obstacle. Her fingers tapped impatiently on the steering wheel. Every minute felt stolen, precarious. She pictured James hunched over his desk, oblivious, trusting. The image should have pricked her conscience, but it dissolved instantly, replaced by the visceral memory of Tony’s hands gripping her hips, the thick, heavy heat of him stretching her wide open, the guttural groan he made when he buried himself deep inside her. She shifted in the seat, the silk gusset of her panties dampening further against her swollen flesh. Soon. Fuck me soon.
The discreet road sign for The Oak Room appeared. She turned onto the long, tree-lined drive, gravel crunching beneath the tires. The imposing manor house materialised, ivy-clad and radiating discreet wealth. Valets stood ready. She pulled up, took a deep breath that did nothing to calm the frantic flutter in her chest, and opened the door. The sharp November air hit her exposed legs, a brief shock before she stood, unfolding herself with deliberate grace. The valet’s eyes widened almost imperceptibly as he took in the towering heels, the scandalously short hemline riding up her thighs as she emerged, the plunge of her back revealed. She handed him the keys with a cool smile, the click of her heels on the stone steps loud and commanding as she ascended towards the heavy oak door.
Inside, the warmth enveloped her, thick with the scent of woodsmoke, aged leather, expensive perfume, and something richer, darker – anticipation. The maître d', impeccably dressed, recognized her instantly. "Mrs. Smith," he murmured, his voice smooth as the polished wood paneling. She had reverted to James's surname after Tony had left her. "Mr. Reynolds is already seated. Please, follow me."
He led her through the hushed, opulent space. Low conversations murmured from intimate booths draped in leather. Crystal glasses glinted in the firelight. The air felt heavy, charged. And then she saw him. Tony. Seated at a corner booth, partially shielded by a high wingback chair. He wasn't looking towards the entrance; he was staring into the roaring fireplace, a tumbler of amber liquid held loosely in one large hand. Even in repose, he radiated power. The expensive cut of his dark suit jacket stretched across broad shoulders. His salt-and-pepper hair was impeccably groomed. The firelight played on the strong planes of his face, highlighting the intensity she knew lurked beneath the charming facade.
The maître d' stopped at the table. "Mr. Reynolds, your guest has arrived."
Tony turned. Slowly. His dark eyes swept over her, from the lethal points of her Louboutins, up the sheer-dark expanse of her stockinged legs, lingering on the flash of lace top near her hemline, over the sinuous cling of the black dress moulding her curves, pausing at the exposed swell of her breasts above the lace bra, finally meeting her gaze. His expression was unreadable. Cold. No welcoming smile, no spark of the familiar, predatory hunger. Just an assessing, almost detached scrutiny that sent a chill through her heated blood.
"Kacey," he said, his voice a low rumble, devoid of warmth. He didn't stand.
"Tony," she replied, forcing her voice steady, injecting a lightness she didn't feel. She slid into the booth opposite him, the leather sighing beneath her. The move caused her skirt to ride higher, exposing another inch of stocking-top and the stark black strap of the suspender belt against her pale thigh. She saw his gaze flicker down, then back to her face, his expression unchanged. The frost in the air was palpable.
The maître d' hovered. "May I bring Madame a drink?"
"Champagne," Kacey said quickly, needing something to steady her nerves. "Veuve Clicquot, please." Tony merely gave a curt nod of confirmation, his eyes never leaving hers.
Silence stretched, thick and uncomfortable. The crackle of the fire seemed unnaturally loud. Kacey smoothed her skirt, acutely aware of every inch of exposed skin, the dampness soaking through the thin silk between her legs. This wasn't the reception she’d anticipated. Where was the possessive heat? The immediate, searing acknowledgment of what she was offering? The memory of his abandonment after Anthony’s death, the months of silence, crashed over her, mingling with the sting of his current indifference.
"You look… expensive," Tony finally said, his tone flat. He took a slow sip of his whiskey.
"Thank you," she replied, lifting her chin slightly. "You bought the shoes." She extended one leg slightly beneath the table, letting the gleaming patent leather and the flash of red sole catch the firelight.
"So I did." Another slow sip. His gaze drifted over her again, lingering on the deep V of her neckline. "And the rest? Dressed to kill, Kacey? Or just dressed to be fucked?"
The crude, unexpected vulgarity, delivered in that cold, level tone, hit her like a physical blow. Heat flooded her cheeks, but beneath the shock, a treacherous coil of arousal tightened low in her belly. His dominance, even when cruel, was a drug. "Maybe both," she retorted, her voice dropping lower, holding his gaze. She leaned forward slightly, deliberately deepening her cleavage. "Depends on who’s asking."
He didn't react immediately. He studied her, his dark eyes seeming to strip away the makeup, the dress, the carefully constructed armour. He saw the lingering shadows beneath the concealer, the slight tremor in her hand as she reached for the champagne flute the waiter silently placed before her. He saw the raw, desperate need she couldn't fully conceal.
"You didn't tell him, did you," Tony stated, not a question. He knew James’s routines, his predictability.
"No." She took a large gulp of champagne, the bubbles sharp on her tongue, sharp and fleeting, a poor distraction from the glacial silence. Tony’s dark eyes remained fixed on her, stripping away the pretence layer by layer. She felt exposed, raw beneath his scrutiny, the damp silk clinging to her core a humiliating testament to her body’s betrayal.
"He trusts you," Tony stated, his voice low and devoid of inflection. He swirled the amber liquid in his tumbler, the ice clinking softly. "Still. After everything."
Kacey slammed her flute down harder than intended, the crystal ringing out. "Don't," she hissed, leaning forward, her green eyes blazing. "Don't you dare lecture me about trust, Tony. Not after you walked away." The memory of Anthony’s funeral, Tony’s cold withdrawal, the months of echoing silence in her hollow house, surged back, bitter as bile. "You left me alone."
A muscle ticked in Tony’s jaw. "You pushed," he countered, his voice dropping to a dangerous growl. "Always pushing, Kacey. Demanding more than I could give then." His gaze flickered down her body again, a deliberate, scorching appraisal. "Seems you haven't changed."
The accusation hung heavy. She took another desperate gulp of champagne, the alcohol warming her throat but doing nothing for the icy knot of anger and desire warring inside her. The scent of woodsmoke mingled with his expensive aftershave filled her nostrils, heady and intoxicating. She needed him to see her, to feel the chaos he’d ignited and abandoned.
"James and I…" she began, her voice catching. She forced the words out, needing to wound him, needing him to understand the impossible tangle she was in. "We’re back together." Tony’s expression didn’t flicker, but his knuckles whitened around his glass. "Living under the same roof… we're trying again."
Silence stretched, thick and suffocating. The fire crackled. A waiter drifted past, sensing the tension and veering away. Kacey felt the dampness between her legs intensify, a traitorous pulse answering the sheer, brutal dominance radiating from him despite his stillness.
"And?" Tony prompted, his voice dangerously soft. "You coming here dressed like this is 'trying'?" He scoffed, his gaze raked over the tight black dress, the exposed stocking tops. "You're seriously here to tell me you’re playing happy families?" A harsh, humourless chuckle escaped him. "Bullshit, Kacey."
"It’s not bullshit!" she snapped, heat flooding her cheeks. She leaned closer, lowering her voice to a fierce whisper. "We are trying. Last night…" She paused, seeing the predatory focus sharpen in his eyes. "Last night, James and I..." She watched him, needing him to feel it. "...we fucked."
Tony’s expression remained carved from stone, but his eyes darkened, a storm brewing in their depths. He took a slow, deliberate sip of his whiskey, his gaze never leaving hers. "Did he make you scream?" he asked, his voice a low, gravelly rumble that vibrated straight to her clit. "Did he fill you up? Make you forget everything but his cock? I bet he couldn't even make you cum."
Kacey swallowed, he knew their dynamic so well. The image of James’s earnest, gentle lovemaking clashing violently with the raw hunger Tony’s words evoked.
"No, he didn't." She said, looking down at her lap. "I made him wear a condom," she breathed, the confession bursting out before she could stop herself. It hung between them, charged and explicit. "...because I’m ovulating." She looked up and held Tony’s gaze, the unspoken implication screaming louder than words: His seed isn’t welcome inside me. Yours was.
The silence that followed was electric. Tony’s nostrils flared slightly. He placed his tumbler down with exaggerated care. The air crackled, thick with unsaid violence and desperate, filthy need. The genteel murmur of the restaurant faded into a distant hum.
"You fucking tease," Tony growled, the veneer of icy control finally shattering. His hand shot out, not towards her, but towards her champagne flute. He snatched it up, his grip tight. "You come here dripping for me, dressed like a whore in the shoes I bought you, smelling like fucking sin, to tell me you let your husband stick his limp dick in you? And what? I'm supposed to be jealous of that little prick?!" He spat, his voice was low, venomous, vibrating with fury and something darker, hotter.
He slammed her flute down onto the table. Crystal shattered, spraying shards and golden liquid across the white linen. Kacey flinched, gasping. Patrons nearby startled, heads turning. Tony ignored them, leaning across the ruined tablecloth, invading her space. His scent – expensive aftershave, whiskey, pure male aggression – overwhelmed her.
"I can smell you," he hissed, his breath hot against her ear. "Smell how fucking wet his pathetic little fuck got you. But I can smell how much you still want me." His hand clamped onto her thigh beneath the table, high up, fingers digging into the soft flesh above her stocking top, perilously close to the damp silk. "Admit it."
A whimper escaped Kacey’s lips, part fear, part overwhelming arousal. His touch burned through the nylon. "Tony, please…" she breathed, trembling. "People are looking…"
"Fuck them," he snarled, his fingers sliding higher, tracing the edge of her lace panties, finding the soaked silk beneath. He pressed the pad of his thumb hard against her clit through the thin fabric. Kacey jerked, biting back a cry, her hips bucking involuntarily against his hand. "Tell me," he commanded, his thumb circling ruthlessly, igniting sparks behind her eyelids. "Tell me you came here because you need my cock. Because you remember how I split you open. How I made you beg."
"Yes!" The word tore from her, ragged and desperate. Her hand flew down, gripping his wrist, not to stop him, but to press him harder against her throbbing core. "God, yes, Tony! I remember! I can’t forget! I need it… need you…" Her vision blurred, the restaurant dissolving into a haze of firelight and his dark, furious eyes. "Last night, I brought myself off just by thinking about your cock. Please…please darling..."
"Not here," he growled, withdrawing his hand abruptly, leaving her aching and exposed. He tossed a thick wad of cash onto the wet, glittering mess of the table. "Upstairs. Now." He stood, towering over her, radiating barely leashed power. "Move your fucking arse, Kacey. Before I bend you over this ruined table and remind you exactly who owns your cunt."
He didn't wait. He turned and strode towards the discreet hallway leading to the private dining rooms and restrooms, his broad shoulders cutting through the hushed, scandalized atmosphere. Kacey scrambled out of the booth, her legs shaky, her Louboutins clicking frantically on the polished wood floor as she hurried after him, the damp silk clinging, the memory of his thumb on her clit a brand, the promise of what was coming making her breath catch in ragged gasps. The eyes of the restaurant burned into her back, meaningless noise against the roaring need pulling her forward.
