Brandon is an 18 year old coming to the end of his high school career. He is 5’8, blonde with blue eyes and muscular, a stud state champion wrestler, competitive powerlifter with a 500 lb bench, 600 lb squat, and 700 lb deadlift. He works at a sport and health club. He works with Medina, a Croatian immigrant certified personal trainer, fitness competitor with six pack abs in her late 30s. She serves as a mentor to Brandon who is navigating his journey forward. Things may escalate between them and complicate things.

Chapter 3: The Real World

The silence in Medina’s apartment had lasted all night, a tangible thing that pressed down on her until the alarm blared at 4:45 AM. Her routine was armor. She put it on piece by piece: the black sports bra, the compression leggings, the tight ponytail that pulled the skin of her temples taut. In the mirror, the woman who looked back was all sharp lines and controlled green eyes. The woman from the hotel room, from the car, from the bathroom sink—she was locked away. A secret. A problem for another time.

Brandon drove to work in a fog. The world outside his car windows seemed absurdly normal. School, graduation, college applications—they were distant planets, their orbits irrelevant. His whole reality had contracted to a single, burning point: the memory of her inner heat, the way her legs shook. He parked in the employee lot, the winter air biting his lungs, and walked into the Sport and Health club with the strange sensation of being a stranger to himself.

The gym was its own universe, loud and predictable. The clatter of iron plates, the grunt of effort, the tinny thump of pop music from ceiling speakers. He clocked in, avoiding the front desk where she usually set up her clipboard.

He saw her an hour into his shift. She was coaching Mrs. Ellerman on the chest press, her voice cutting through the noise. “Elbows. Do not let them flare. It is not a chicken wing. You are not a chicken.” Professional. Impeccable. Untouchable.

Their eyes met across the quad extension machine. A flicker. A micro-second where the room seemed to tilt. Then she looked back at her client, pointing at a forearm. “Engage here. Yes.”

He went through the motions of his duties—wiping down benches, re-racking dumbbells left astray by members. The scent of bleach cleaner mixed with the pervasive smell of sweat and rubber. Every time he passed her, a current jumped the space between them. He heard her laugh at something a regular said, a short, bright sound that felt like a personal betrayal.

Then, the chance. He was collecting towels near the men’s locker room entrance when he saw her. She had a master key on her hip. She glanced around, then slipped the key into the lock. The door clicked open, she flipped the interior latch to lock it from the inside, and disappeared. The yellow plastic “CLEANING IN PROGRESS” sign stood sentry.

His heart kicked against his ribs. He forced himself to walk calmly to the staff door twenty feet down the corridor, the one marked “EMPLOYEES ONLY” that led into the locker room’s back area where the mops and supplies were kept. His hand was steady as he turned the knob. It was unlocked.

The utility closet was dank, smelling of damp concrete and lemon-scented detergent. He moved past stacks of paper towel rolls, his sneakers silent on the wet floor. He cracked the door that led into the main locker room.

She was there, her back to him. She wasn’t cleaning. She was standing perfectly still in the center of the tiled aisle, between two banks of gray lockers, her head slightly bowed as if listening. The only sound was the distant, metallic groan of pipes in the walls.

He stepped out. The door sighed shut behind him. He turned the deadbolt. The sound was a tiny, final thunderclap.

She didn’t jump. She just went very still.

He crossed the space in five long strides. When he put his arm around her waist from behind, pulling her back into him, she released a breath that was half-sigh, half-surrendered moan. Her whole body melted against his frame, her head lolling back onto his shoulder. Her hand came up and behind, her palm pressing against the stiff denim of his work pants, finding and rubbing the thick, hard line of him with a knowing, desperate urgency.

He nuzzled into her neck, inhaling the citrus of her shampoo over the sterile locker room smell. His other hand slid down from her stomach, past the waistband of her own black leggings, past the elastic of her panties. He found her wet and already swollen. A low, approving rumble vibrated in his chest. “You’ve been thinking about it,” he whispered into her ear.

“All day,” she breathed, her hips pushing back against his hand. “Since you left. Since the gas station. It is all I can think about.”

He worked his fingers against her, slow and purposeful, feeling her body tighten and quiver. A shudder ran through her. With his other arm still banded around her, he yanked her leggings and underwear down to her mid-thighs in one rough pull. He freed himself, the cool air a shock, then the greater shock of her heat as he guided himself into her, entering with a slow, inexorable push that made them both gasp.

He filled her completely. She was so tight, still clutching him from the inside from the memory of him. He didn’t move for a long moment, just held her there, impaled, feeling the fine tremors in her thighs. Then he began to move. His rhythm was deep and slow, each withdrawal almost complete, each thrust a full, seated possession. It was an excruciating, breathtaking cadence. The only sounds were their ragged breathing, the soft, wet slide of their bodies joining, and the occasional squeak of their shoes on the damp tile.

Her hands flew back, gripping the back of his thighs, her nails digging in. She buried her face in the crook of her own arm to stifle her cries. A high, thin whine escaped her with every deep drive. It was taking everything in her to be silent. Her muscles corded with the strain, her abs clenching into a hard rack under his forearm.

The peak built not in a crash, but like a tide, inevitable and overwhelming. It started low in her belly, a deep, rolling pressure that tightened and spread until her whole world narrowed to the point where their bodies were joined. Her orgasm peaked slowly, intensely, a silent, convulsing unraveling that locked her breath in her throat and made her vision spark. He felt her internal pulsing, a rhythmic, desperate milking.

It triggered his own. He buried his face into the knot of her hair, his teeth gritted, a harsh, strangled groan escaping as he came. He filled her in deep, claiming spurts, his hips grinding against her as he emptied himself. The force of it, the intimacy of the act in this clinical, public space, made her legs buckle. They shook violently, only his iron grip around her waist keeping her upright.

They stayed like that, joined and trembling, for a full minute. The world seeped back in—the hum of the fluorescent lights, a shout from the gym floor beyond the door.

Slowly, gently, he withdrew. He turned her around. Her eyes were glassy, her lips bruised-looking. Without a word, she sank to her knees on the cool tile. She took him, still wet and glistening with their mixed fluids, into her mouth. Her tongue was thorough, cleaning him, swallowing the evidence with a solemn focus. When she was done, she looked up at him, her green eyes dark and unreadable.

“You need to go,” she whispered, her voice hoarse. “Sneak back out the way you came.”

He helped her up, pulling her leggings back into place with a tenderness that contrasted with everything that had just happened. He tucked himself away, fastened his jeans.

At the staff door, he looked back. She was smoothing her ponytail, adjusting her shirt. She met his gaze. And then, a smile touched her lips. Not a happy smile, not a gentle one. It was a smile of pure, shared complicity. A crack in the armor, just for him.

He smiled back, a quick, bright flash. Then he was gone, the door closing silently behind him, leaving her alone in the locker room with the smell of bleach and sex and the echoing truth of what they were now.
