Chapter 1: A Warm Jamaican Welcome
The courtyard air hit like a warm, wet towel. Ritchie dragged his suitcase over the uneven stone, sweat already pricking his neck beneath the linen shirt. "Told you it'd be paradise, El," he grinned, squeezing Ellie's hand. She offered a small smile, her eyes scanning the explosion of crimson bougainvillea cascading over whitewashed walls, the impossibly green palm fronds rustling overhead. Salt from the nearby sea tangled with the heavy sweetness of night-blooming jasmine. It was exactly the brochure lush, secluded, expensive.
Two figures emerged from the villa's shadowed archway, gliding across the sun-drenched courtyard. Bianca and Anna. Their movements were fluid, effortless. The sheer, turquoise sarongs they wore clung to every curve, the fabric so flimsy Ritchie could see the dark outline of their nipples, the dip of their navels, the shadow between their thighs as the light hit the material just so. It felt deliberate. Intentional.
"Welcome to Villa Salacia," Bianca purred, her voice a low rasp that slid over Ritchie's skin. She held out a tray laden with glasses of vivid orange liquid. Ice clinked. Rum punch. Her dark eyes held Ritchie's a beat too long, a subtle challenge in their depths. As she leaned forward to offer him a glass, her full breast brushed lightly against his forearm. He felt the heat, the softness through his sleeve. The scent of coconut oil and something muskier enveloped him.
"Paradise indeed," chuckled Marcel, Ritchie's father, taking a glass from Anna. At sixty, he was still trim, his gaze appreciative as it traveled down Anna's barely concealed form. Anna merely smiled, a slow, knowing curve of her lips.
Carol, Ritchie's stepmother, materialized beside Marcel. Late fifties, her figure poured into a tight sundress, she accepted a glass from Bianca. "About time we got here," she sighed, her voice throaty. "I need this. And this." She took a long sip, her eyes, heavy-lidded, drifting past Ritchie towards the villa's interior. "Rules say anything goes over eighteen, right Marcel? We’re all consenting adults." Her gaze flickered towards Billy, Ritchie’s twin, who was just striding in.
Billy flashed his trademark grin wide, easy, magnetic. He dumped his bag carelessly. "Consenting adults? Music to my ears, Carol." He bypassed the tray, taking the glass directly from Anna's hand, his fingers lingering on hers. Anna didn't pull away. "Damn, that's potent. Just how I like it." His eyes, the same hazel as Ritchie's but infinitely more mischievous, swept the gathering crowd: Karen, his stepsister, stretching languidly; Sarah and Sara, Ellie's older and twin sisters, whispering together; Tammy, Ellie's younger sister, already kicking off her sandals to feel the cool stone on her bare feet.
Ellie stood slightly apart, sipping her punch. Ritchie saw her watching Bianca and Anna move smoothly between the arriving guests Chad, Ellie's cocky stepbrother, openly ogling Anna's backside; Brenda, Ellie's mother, laughing too loudly as John, a male butler with a sculpted torso barely hidden by an unbuttoned linen shirt, handed her a drink. Brenda's fingers brushed John's bicep. Ellie’s expression was unreadable, but Ritchie noticed how she shifted her weight, how her gaze followed the path of Tom, another male butler, as he carried luggage.
"Whoa," Chad breathed, sidling up beside Tammy. Twenty-one, muscles bulging under a tank top, he eyed Tammy like she was prey. "This place is wild. Those uniforms... damn." He nudged her. "You game, Tams?"
Tammy giggled, tossing her long hair. Nineteen and radiating a potent mix of innocence and boldness. "Maybe. Depends who's asking."
"Everyone," Chad smirked. "That's the vibe, isn't it? Free for all."
Ellie flinched almost imperceptibly at Chad's words. Ritchie missed it, too busy watching Billy charm Karen, his hand resting casually on the small of her back as they laughed together. Carol watched too, a hungry look in her eyes.
Daniel, Ellie's stepfather, a distinguished man in his fifties, accepted a drink from Tom. "Quite the welcoming committee, Daniel observed dryly, his gaze sweeping over the barely-clad butlers. He didn't seem displeased.
The final arrival shuffled slowly through the archway, leaning heavily on a gnarled cane. Dennis. Ellie's step-grandfather. Eighty-something, but his eyes, milky and pale, didn't hold the vagueness of age. They fixed, sharp and unsettling, on Ellie. He didn't look at the tropical blooms or the stunning butlers. His gaze crawled over her body – the curve of her hip in her sundress, the swell of her breasts, the line of her throat. It was a look Ritchie had seen before, a look that always made Ellie subtly step behind him. It was naked, predatory lust. Dennis didn't smile. He just stared, licking thin, dry lips.
Ritchie felt a prickle of unease, quickly dismissed. The old man was harmless. Senile, probably. He moved towards Ellie, putting an arm around her waist, pulling her subtly away from that fixed stare. "Overwhelmed, sweetheart?" he murmured, kissing her temple. "It's a lot to take in."
Ellie leaned into him, but her body felt tense. "It's... vibrant," she said softly. Her eyes, however, darted past Ritchie. They followed Bianca as the butler swayed back towards the villa entrance, hips moving with a rhythm that seemed to echo the distant pulse of the ocean. Bianca paused, glanced back over her shoulder directly at Ellie, and gave a slow, deliberate blink. An invitation? A dare? Then she disappeared inside.
Anna, gathering empty glasses, passed close to Chad. His hand snaked out, landing possessively on her buttock. She didn't startle. She just turned her head, met his arrogant gaze, and arched one perfect eyebrow. A silent negotiation. Chad grinned wider.
"Right!" boomed Marcel, clapping his hands. "Rooms first! Unpack! Then... festivities." He winked broadly at Carol, who laughed, a low, promising sound.
As the group began to move, chatter rising, luggage wheels rumbling on stone, Ritchie felt the shift. The thick, sweet air wasn't just tropical humidity anymore. It was charged. Heavy with the scent of rum and sunscreen and something else entirely – raw, unspoken anticipation. The polite veneer of family was already dissolving, replaced by the gleam in Billy's eyes as he watched Sarah adjust her bikini top, by the way Brenda whispered something that made John throw his head back in laughter, by the flush on Tammy's cheeks as Chad whispered in her ear.
Ellie stayed close to Ritchie as they followed Tom towards their assigned wing. But as they passed a side path leading to what looked like staff quarters, Ritchie felt her gaze pull towards it. Her fingers tightened almost imperceptibly on his arm. Not fear, he realized with a jolt. It was something else. A sharp, undeniable flicker of hunger. It was gone as quickly as it came, masked by her usual calm reserve. Yet it left Ritchie feeling strangely adrift, the confident architect of this reunion suddenly unsure of the foundation he’d built it on.
Behind them, leaning against a sun-warmed pillar, Dennis watched Ellie walk away. His milky eyes never left her. His tongue darted out again, a slow, deliberate pass over his lips. The cane tapped once, twice, on the stone. A dry, patient sound.
