Chapter 1: Introduction
Sitting in the sterile, white waiting room, Elizabeth Parker filled out the stack of documents placed on her lap. She could hear the soft, rhythmic ticking of the clock on the wall, her only companion, counting down the minutes she had left as a normal person. As the lines of text blended together into an endless blur, she couldn't help feeling the creeping sense of unease and anticipation. It was unlike anything she had ever experienced before. The idea of participating in this mysterious study was just too intriguing to resist, something few others could turn down. A fresh start.
That's what she had been searching for. And she found it in an ad for a medical study. The promise of something new called out to her like a siren's song. Elizabeth hadn't been able to shake the feeling that she was meant to be a part of something extraordinary.
"Elizabeth Parker," called a voice, snapping her out of her thoughts. Dr. Aiden Grayson, a tall, lean man with short, dark hair and piercing blue eyes stood in the doorway. A faint smile graced his perfect lips as he gestured for her to follow.
