Chapter 1: Chapter 1
Alexandria was walking down a street with her best friend Sammy when she saw someone who looked like they were lost. She stopped and asked if he needed help but to her surprise he didn’t speak English so she walked away leaving him there. The next day at school Sammy told her that this guy had followed them home from the park where they went for lunch after playing basketball together. He said his name was David and that he lived nearby. It turned out that David knew Sammy’s dad because their dads played on the same team years ago. When Sammy’s mom found out about David it made her very uncomfortable. Her parents are conservative Christians and they don’t approve of homosexuality or gay people.
Sammy’s mother got mad at her father because he allowed Sammy to hang around with David even though he wasn’t really her boyfriend yet. But Sammy loved David and wanted to be close to him.
