Chapter 1: Chapter 1
I was sitting in the car, staring out the window, when I saw him. He was walking down the street, hands in his pockets smiling at everyone he passed. It was the first day of spring, and the sun was shining through a soft cloud cover. Birds were chirping, flowers blooming, and everyone was in a good mood. Except me.I was stuck in a car for eight hours, listening to my girlfriend talk about her ex-boyfriend and how much better he was than me. Why do you look so sad, my love?' my better half asked. 'Don't you miss him?'
'No. I don't miss him. What I miss is what we had. The passion, the fire, the way he would look at me...' I trailed off as a car wh izzed by, splashing mud all over my windshield. 'Oh, well,' I murmured to myself, 'that can't be helped.' The rain washes everything clean, you know.Even the dirt.
'Do you want me to stop talking about him?' my love asked. I could tell she was trying hard not to fight" with me. We had been together for two years, and she knew I hated her talking about her past relationships. 'No, go ahead. I love you no matter what.' Her voice cracked as tears forced themselves to her eyes.
