Chapter 5: Epilogue

Gupta called his servants.

They arrived quickly, eyeing the woman lying still on the bloody carpet. "Clean this mess up," he ordered gruffly, waving them off. As they set to work, he reached for his phone, dialing a number carefully.

"Hello," he said quietly when the line answered. "Listen closely. I have a situation here..."

The servant approached him hesitantly, his face drawn with concern. "Sir," he whispered, "what should we do with the body?"

Gupta paused, considering the question. Then he shrugged dismissively.

"Do whatever you deem fit. Just make sure everything is clean and ready for tomorrow's event."

"Yes, sir," the servant agreed nervously, backing away.

Gupta nodded curtly, returning his attention to the phone call.

"Hello," he repeated, speaking low and deliberately. "I have a situation here. I need to dispose of a body."

His voice betrayed none of the urgency or panic swirling inside him.

On the other end of the line, the man named Ravi listened intently.

He had known Gupta for years, and he understood the gravity of the situation. "I understand," he said, his voice low and calm. "Don't worry. I'll take care of it."

Gupta exhaled deeply, relief washing over him. "Thank you, Ravi," he murmured gratefully. "I owe you one."

Sandhya's dead body was discovered lying on an alley way.

Her swollen belly had stopped moving, her swollen breasts no longer heaved with each breath. The police investigated the scene, their faces grim with determination. Their questions flew fast and furious, their voices hushed with urgency. They combed through the crime scene meticulously, gathering evidence and piecing together the puzzle.

But all enquiry ceased at Gupta's behest.

He held sway over the town, his influence permeating every institution, including the local police department. Investigations were halted, reports disappeared, and the officers assigned to the case vanished overnight. Rumors circulated throughout the small town, whispers of foul play and corruption reaching fever pitch.

TO add to the sensation and to divert people's attention from the real perpetrators, the report of the post-mortem were revealed to the public.

The report confirmed that she died of rape

and that she was six months pregnant.

Rumors, false names, false arrests

, and all kind of false leads followed.

People were shocked by the brutality of the crime.

They couldn't believe that something so horrific could happen in their quiet, peaceful town.

The news spread like wildfire, igniting outrage and fear within the community.

People started questioning the safety of their loved ones and themselves.

The police were under immense pressure to catch the culprit.

However, they seemed oblivious to the connection between the victim and the influential Gupta.

However the fever pitched by the shocking news also died along with Sandhya. Some people genuinely protested, demanding justice and accountability, but most of the townsfolks returned to their supposed normalcy, some actually blaming the victim herself.

Some wondered whether the deceased had any past history of bad deeds, while others considered her an unfortunate victim of circumstances beyond her control. Most of the people decided to stay away from the controversy and continue living their lives in ignorance, focusing their energies on mundane daily activities. Life moved on. The once-vibrant market square gradually regained its bustle, albeit with a somber undertone. Children played in the streets, unaware of the tragedy that had unfolded in their midst.

Her beautiful body, now dead, were presented to the family .

Her husband, unable to hold back his tears, watched as she was laid to rest.

As he mourned her loss, he promised himself vengeance - a promise he would soon fulfill.

The days passed, time healing the wounds of the town. The tragic incident became a distant memory for many, but not for Sandhya's grieving husband. He couldn't shake off the feeling that there was more to the story than met the eye. His suspicions led him to investigate further, delving deeper into the shadowy underworld of the town.
