John stared at the computer screen in front of him, the words flashing by too quickly for him to read. He blinked, but the words kept coming, one after another, until they stopped. His stomach turned, but he didn't stop staring. The screen went black, and a loading icon appeared in the middle.The lights on his desk turned off one by one, until only the light on his phone was left. Shit," he muttered, and threw his phone into the wastebasket next to his desk. He heard nothing in the office, no humming engines or clanking metal doors.It was eerily quiet. He was the only one here. The loading icon appeared again, and the computer shut down.

John looked across the room to the door, the only way out. It was ajar, and a breeze wafted in, smelling of dust and paper.
