Chapter 2: Ten years
Hello.
I am Jennie, and this is my story.
After a long day at the University, where the only action I get is a whiplash from the professor's accent while he's droning on about Greek philosophy, I needed a release. My best friend, Sia Jiwoo, suggested hitting up my favorite speakeasy, Rough Trade, and letting loose for the night.
Sia was always sharp, her tongue barbs hidden beneath her gentle, demure exterior. "Come on, Jeong," she'd say, a sugary smile seeping from her lips.
But there was always a wicked glint in her eyes as she dragged me to my feet and pulled me from the room. "Let's go get laid."
I couldn't help but laugh as Sia pulled open the front door of my apartment. "Only you, Jiwoo," I muttered, shaking my head.
"What was that?" She asked, flashing me a look over her shoulder. "You saying you don't want to get your freak on tonight?"
A shiver ran down my spine as we stepped out onto the dark, damp streets.
The neon lights of the city sparkled like diamonds against the starless sky, and the air was so thick with the scent of good times and suffering souls that I could feel it cling to my skin.
"I have just the fucking place in mind," Sia whispered, her voice carrying a kind of red-blooded, Nietzschean wisdom that I couldn't help but resonate with.
She led me through the winding alleyways of the city, my mind spinning with excitement and anticipation.
