Why are they running for

Chapter 2: Chapter 2

It wasn't long before two cop cars rolled up behind me, sirens wailing. Oh, shit,' I thought, 'they caught me.' But as the cops got closer, I realized they weren't after me. They were after the girl I saw on the news. That poor soul had been found dead not too far from where I live now. Her name was Allison Williams and she worked in our local Pub. A I knew her only because she was one of the few people I spoke to during my shift. I never saw her outside of work, but I heard she lived with her parents and was studying to be a nurse. Her father worked in the hospital and mother ran a small daycare center in their basement. All three of those things combined meant that whenever anyone needed medical advice, they turned to her father first and then to her mother for second opinions. She was in her third year of college and had a part-time job at the pub to pay for it.That nightmarish scene played over again in my mind while those damn blue lights spun around me.

As much as I didn't want to admit it, I was scared shitless. Not of the cops, who I knew were just doing their job, but of the girl in the news. I was scared she might be alive and that one day I might run into her. That would mean either she survived being raped by multiple men or went crazy and started killing random strangers. Which option should scare us all? Should we fear the girl who looked like me, who had the same hair color and eye color as me, or should we fear the girl who could be anyone? That would mean every woman I've ever seen in my life has potentially killed somebody. What if that isn't true though? Maybe all women aren't killers. Maybe I'm the one who needs to worry.I've seen so many movies and TV shows where women are the victims and men are the predators that I'm beginning to think it's a reality. After all, how often does a woman get kidnapped and forced into sex trafficking without ever seeing her face or knowing anything about her? How often has a beautiful young girl' turned up dead after being drugged and gang-raped for days on end? It happens every day in the news and on social media.Young girls go missing everyday; some turn up later having taken drugs, others don't. Some get kidnapped and forced into prostitution rings, others have gone missing for no reason at all.Somehow, I doubt those girls who end up in brothels or drug dens are the ones who go missing for days or weeks at a time.
