Chapter 1: Introduction

The gates of Ravencloth penitentiary loomed ahead, their iron bars reaching into the sky like the skeletal fingers of some long-dead monster. The cold steel and grim concrete blocks of the building did little to inspire hope or warmth. Jim's hands tightened around the chain linking his wrists, the metal biting into his skin like a silent, relentless warning.

The prison bus rumbled to a halt, the engine coughing and sputtering as if protesting the arrival as much as the man it carried. Jim's heart pounded in his chest, matching the rhythm of the mechanical beast that had been his transport for the past few hours.

The doors of the bus creaked open, the sound echoing through the cavernous space, almost screaming in the silent, oppressive air. A tall, broad-shouldered figure stepped inside, his polished boots clicking against the worn metal floor.

"Out," the man barked, his voice as cold and unyielding as the stone walls surrounding them. Jim hesitated, his eyes scanning the man's uniform, the insignia that marked him as the Warden. He took a deep breath, steeled himself, and stepped down from the bus, his chains clanking with each movement.

The Warden turned to face him, his stern face a mask of disapproval. He was intimidating, with a military-sharp haircut and eyes that seemed to drill into Jim's very soul.

"Name?" the Warden demanded, his voice echoing in the vast, empty space between the bus and the prison entrance.

"Jim," he replied, his voice barely above a whisper. He cleared his throat and tried again, "Jim Stevens."

The Warden nodded briskly, his gaze flicking over Jim's lean, muscular frame. "Sentence?"

Jim swallowed hard, the weight of his punishment sinking in.

"One year of administrative punishment," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him.

The Warden's lips curled into a cruel smile. "Precisely. You'll be spending your time here at Ravencloth, in the capable hands of my guards." He gestured to two figures standing a few paces behind him. They were both tall, muscled, and exuded an aura of controlled violence.

The first guard, with short brown hair and a face as hard as stone, stepped forward. "I'm Guard #1, but you can call me Thompson," he said, his voice gruff but not unkind.

"This here's Mason, Guard #2," he added, nodding at the other man who gave Jim a small, almost sympathetic smile.

Jim nodded in acknowledgment, his gaze flicking between the two guards. Thompson's stern demeanor was unmistakable, but Mason seemed to have a gentler edge, despite the rigid military stance.

The Warden cleared his throat, drawing Jim's attention back to him. "Your sentences will be carried out daily, five days a week, by one of these guards. On Sundays, you'll receive a special... treatment," he said, his voice laced with a dark promise.

"One hundred lashes with a heavy razor strap on your naked ass." The words hung in the air, heavy and menacing, like the prison itself.

Jim's eyes widened, and he couldn't help but wince, the mental image of the punishment sending a shiver down his spine. He managed a nod, trying to maintain his composure despite the sudden surge of fear and apprehension.

Thompson stepped forward, his stern gaze never leaving Jim. "We'll start today, Stevens. Follow me."

Jim fell into step behind Thompson, his chains clanking with each movement.

He could feel the guard's stern, disciplined gaze on his back, making him acutely aware of his every step. The prison walls seemed to close in around him, the air growing thicker and heavier with each footfall.

As they walked, Thompson's voice cut through the oppressive silence. "You'll be in Cell 13, Stevens. It's not the Ritz, but it'll be your home for the next year." His tone was matter-of-fact, devoid of any emotion that might suggest sympathy or malice.

Jim forced a tight nod, his mind racing with thoughts of the cell and the punishment that awaited him.

They walked down a long, dimly lit corridor, the concrete walls seeming to press in on him from all sides. The air was thick with the scent of disinfectant and something else—a heavy, almost palpable sense of despair.

Thompson stopped in front of a heavy metal door, the number 13 stenciled onto it in stark black paint. He turned to face Jim, his expression impassive. "This is your cell, Jim. You'll spend your days here when you're not being punished."

Jim looked at the door, swallowing hard against the lump that had formed in his throat.

He tried to keep his voice steady as he asked, "And the others? The other inmates?"

Thompson's stern gaze softened slightly. "You're the only one in this wing, Stevens. The prison's too full to give you any company."

Jim nodded, not sure if he should feel relieved or more isolated. Thompson turned the key in the lock and pushed the door open. The cell was bare, with a narrow cot, a small table, and a metal sink and toilet in the corner. The air was stale, and the scent of old sweat and despair hung heavy in the small space.

Jim stepped inside, his boots echoing off the cold concrete floor. He turned to face Thompson, his earlier bravado faltering.

"So, how does this work?" he asked, trying to keep his voice even. "The...the punishments. Do I just...stand there and take it?"

Thompson regarded him for a moment before speaking. "You'll be bent over the table," he gestured to the small, bolted-down table in the corner, "and you'll hold onto the sides. We'll start with fifty swats with the paddle today and again tomorrow and so on.

It's a routine we'll follow, Monday through Friday. Sundays, as the Warden mentioned, are... different." Thompson's voice was firm but not unkind, as if he was trying to offer some measure of comfort in the face of the inevitable.

Jim nodded, the reality of his situation setting in like a stone in his stomach. He walked over to the table, placing his hands on the cold, unyielding metal. The surface was smooth, with no give, nothing to offer any comfort or relief. He took a deep breath, trying to steady himself.

"You'll count each strike, Jim," Thompson instructed, his voice echoing in the small cell.

"If you miss a count, we start over. Understand?"

Jim looked over his shoulder, his eyes meeting Thompson's stern gaze. He nodded, his hands tightening around the edges of the table. "Yes, sir," he managed to say, his voice barely above a whisper.

Thompson nodded, his expression softening slightly. "Good. Now, let's get this over with. Drop your pants and underwear to your ankles and bend over the table, hands flat on the surface."

Jim took a deep breath, steeling himself for what was about to come. He bent over the table, his hands flat on the cool metal surface.

His pants and underwear pooled around his ankles, leaving him feeling exposed and vulnerable. He could hear the shuffle of Thompson's boots as the guard moved into position behind him.

Thompson's voice was firm but not unkind. "You'll feel the paddle first, Stevens. It's not a toy, but it's not the worst thing you'll feel here."

Jim nodded, his grip on the table tightening. He heard the whoosh of air as the paddle swept back, and then the sudden, sharp crack as it connected with his flesh. The pain was immediate and intense, like a sudden, searing burn.

Jim let out a hiss, his body tensing against the violation. The paddle connected again, the sound echoing through the small cell like a gunshot.

"Count," Thompson commanded, his voice stern but even.

Jim took a moment to catch his breath before he managed to choke out, "One."

He braced himself for the next strike, his body already shaking with the anticipation of the pain to come. The paddle came down again, and Jim gritted his teeth, his hands clutching the table as he forced out, "Two."

He couldn't help but wince with each strike, his body jerking with the force of the blows.

The paddle was unyielding, each connection a searing brand upon his flesh. The pain was intense, but Jim fought to keep his count steady, his breaths even. He didn't want to give Thompson any reason to start over.

"Five... six... seven..." he panted, his voice growing hoarse with each number.

Thompson paused momentarily, allowing Jim a brief respite before delivering another strike. "You're doing well, Jim. Keep counting," he said, his voice gruff but not unkind.

Jim nodded, his knuckles white against the cold metal of the table. "Eight...

nine..." Jim gritted out, his body tensing with each strike. The pain was overwhelming, a constant, burning sensation that seemed to consume his entire being. He could feel the heat radiating from his ass, the skin growing more tender and raw with each hit of the paddle.

"You're at twenty-five," Thompson said, his voice stern but measured. "Halfway there, Stevens. You're doing well."

Jim nodded, his breaths coming in ragged gasps. "Twenty-six...twenty-seven..." He paused, his body trembling as he braced for the next strike.

Thompson didn't wait long.

The paddle came down again, the force reverberating through Jim's body. He let out a grunt, his fingers digging into the table’s edge. "Twenty-eight," he managed to choke out, his voice thick with pain and exertion.

The strikes continued, each one a relentless assault on his senses. Jim lost track of time, his world narrowing down to the burn in his ass and the metallic taste of fear in his mouth. He focused on counting, each number a small victory, a tiny bit of control in an otherwise overwhelming situation.

"Forty-seven," Jim gasped, his body shaking with each subsequent strike.

Thompson stopped. “What number was that?” Thompson asked, his voice stern.

Jim hesitated, his mind racing as he tried to remember. “Forty-seven…?” he said, his voice uncertain.

Thompson sighed, his tone firm. “You’re sure?”

Jim nodded, bracing himself for the final strike. “Yes, sir. Forty-seven.”

Thompson nodded, “That’s incorrect, that was 46.

We start over.”

Jim's heart sank, and he could feel the air in the cell change. His hands gripped the table tighter, his knuckles aching from the pressure.

"One," Thompson started again, the paddle whistling through the air before landing with a crack.

Jim gritted his teeth, his body already sensitized from the previous strikes. "One," he gasped out, his voice barely audible over the sound of his own breathing.

The paddle came down again, much harder this time. again, each strike seeming to echo through Jim's very bones. His count wavered, his mind struggling to keep up with the pain.

"Four...

five..." Jim's voice trailed off, his body tensing as another strike landed. "Six..." he grunted, his grip on the table tightening until his knuckles turned white.

Thompson paused, his stern gaze softening slightly. Stay with me."

Jim nodded, taking a deep breath before continuing his count. "Seven... eight..."

The paddle continued to rain down, each strike as relentless as the last. Jim's body was on fire, the pain building to an almost unbearable level. He could feel the sweat dripping down his back, his muscles taut and trembling.

By the time they got to 45, Jim was. crying like a baby.

His voice was hoarse from screaming and counting, his breaths coming in ragged, desperate gasps. His body was shaking, his hands gripping the metal table as if it were the only thing keeping him from crumbling to the floor.

Thompson paused, his hand hovering over Jim's ass, the paddle still raised. He could see the raw, welted skin, the bright red marks standing out against Jim's pale flesh. "That's enough for today, Stevens," he said, his voice gruff but not unkind. "You've taken your fifty.

Well done," Thompson said, placing the paddle on the table. He stepped back, giving Jim a moment to catch his breath.

Jim remained bent over the table, his body shaking, slick with sweat. He closed his eyes, trying to steady his breathing as the pain slowly began to recede, leaving behind a dull, throbbing ache.

"You can stand up now," Thompson instructed, his voice gentle but firm.

Jim unclenched his hands from the table, his fingers aching from the tight grip. He slowly stood up, his body stiff and sore. He kept his back to Thompson, not wanting the guard to see the tears that still lingered in his eyes.
