Chapter 4: Chapter 4

I'm not sure if it's wise to—

Before Odysseus could finish his protest, Poseidon had swept Lucy into his arms, his powerful form blurring as he moved with a speed that defied the very laws of nature. Odysseus, ever the quick-witted hero, cursed under his breath and swiftly pursued them, his heart pounding with a mix of trepidation and determination.

The trio moved through the lush landscape of the island at an impossible speed, the world around them a blur of vibrant colors and ancient wonders. Lucy gripped Poseidon's neck, her eyes wide with a mix of awe and disbelief. She could feel the power of the sea god coursing through him, his divine essence resonating with her own.

Poseidon, in a single fluid motion, dived into the crystal-clear waters surrounding the island, his form cutting through the waves like a knife through butter. In an instant, they were submerged, the world above them disappearing as the sea enveloped them. Lucy gasped, her eyes wide with a mix of awe and disbelief as she took in the breathtaking sight of Poseidon's underwater palace.

The sea god's home was a spectacle to behold, a grand, ancient structure carved out of gleaming coral and pearlescent shells. Schools of vibrant fish darted in and out of the intricate architecture, while giant clams and sea anemones adorned the walls like living art. They descended deeper, the pressure building around them as they approached the grand entrance of Poseidon's abode.

The door opened with a slow, majestic sweep, revealing a vast, opulent chamber adorned with treasures and artifacts from various eras and civilizations. Lucy's eyes widened as she took in the splendor, her breath escaping in a soft gasp. She had seen many remarkable things in her time as an antique enthusiast, but nothing quite like this.

Poseidon smiled, his pride evident in the way he looked around his domain. "Welcome to my home, Lucy," he rumbled, his voice resonating through the water.

Odysseus followed them into the chamber, his eyes scanning the treasures with a mix of curiosity and greed. "A king's ransom lies within these walls," he murmured, his hand instinctively falling to his side, where a sword would normally hang.

Lucy, meanwhile, was lost in wonder, her eyes roaming over the artifacts that lined the walls. She saw a spear from the Trojan War, a jeweled diadem that could have belonged to Cleopatra, and even a shard from the famed Arc of the Covenant. Each piece hummed with history, its story echoing through the ages.

Lucy's fingers ached to touch them, to feel the weight of their legacy, the power of their past. But she knew better than to disturb the artifacts without permission. Instead, she turned to Poseidon, a question in her eyes. "May I?"

Poseidon's expression softened as he took in her awe. He nodded, gesturing to the treasures. "Be my guest, Goddess. They are yours to explore."

Lucy stepped closer, her hand hovering over a gleaming shield. It bore the insignia of the House of Atreus, the family line of Agamemnon.

She had read about this shield, its history forged in the flames of the Trojan War. She reached out, her fingers brushing against the cool, smooth surface. The shield pulsed beneath her touch, a hum of power resonating from its depths. The woven leather and bronze seemed to come alive, the images of heroes and battles etched into its surface shifting and changing before her eyes.

"Incredible," she whispered, her breath fogging in the cool underwater air. She could see the battlefields of Troy, the siege of the city, the fall of its great walls.

She saw the mighty Achilles, his golden armor blazing like the sun, and the cunning Odysseus, his wits as sharp as his sword. She saw the Trojan prince Hector, his strength and honor unmatched, and his wife, the beautiful Helen, whose face launched a thousand ships.

As Lucy marveled at the shifting images on the shield, she felt a strange sensation, like a ripple in the fabric of reality. The scenes on the shield seemed to slow, and then stop, as if time itself had been paused. She blinked, looking up at Poseidon, who watched her with a mixture of curiosity and concern.

"What just happened?" she asked, her voice barely a whisper.

Poseidon's eyes narrowed as he studied the shield, his brows furrowing in thought. "It seems that your touch has triggered a temporal anomaly, Goddess. The shield is now locked in a specific moment in time, frozen in its own temporal stasis."

Lucy's eyes widened as she realized the implications. "I can control time, but I can't stop it or freeze it," she murmured, her mind racing. "At least, not intentionally."

Odysseus stepped closer, his hand resting on Lucy's shoulder. "What do you mean, Lucy?

What just happened?" Odysseus asked, his voice tinged with both concern and excitement. He had seen many wondrous things in his long life, but this was something else entirely. A shield that could freeze time? It defied comprehension.

Lucy turned to face Odysseus, her eyes still locked onto the shield. "I touched the shield, and it froze. The images on it stopped moving, like time stood still for them."

Odysseus's grip on her shoulder tightened, his expression reflecting his growing fascination. "Can you do it again?

Touch something else," Odysseus urged, his eyes gleaming with curiosity and admiration. Before Lucy could respond, the deep rumble of approaching footsteps echoed through the chamber. The trio turned to see several figures approaching, their forms shifting and changing as they drew closer. It was clear that they were not mere mortals, but rather, divine beings in their own right, their features also bearing the unmistakable mark of Poseidon.

"Father, who is this?" one of the young gods asked, his voice resonating through the water as he stepped into the room. His eyes darted between Lucy, Odysseus, and the shield, his brows furrowing in confusion. "Who has come to our realm and why has time stopped in this place?"

Poseidon sighed, his expression softening as he addressed his sons. "Calm yourselves, my children.

This is Lucy, the goddess of time, and her consort, Odysseus," Poseidon said, his voice booming with pride and authority. The young gods exchanged glances, their eyes wide with surprise and awe. They had heard whispers of the goddess of time, but never imagined she would appear before them so suddenly.

"Impossible," one of the gods whispered. "How could she be the goddess of time? She is mortal."

Poseidon chuckled, his gaze flicking back to Lucy. "Indeed, she was once mortal, but no longer.

Now, let me introduce my sons. This is Triton," Poseidon began, gesturing to the young god who had first spoken. Triton bowed slightly, his eyes fixed on Lucy with a mixture of awe and curiosity. "And these are Nereus and Proteus," Poseidon continued, nodding to the two young gods who stood beside Triton. They, too, bowed in greeting, their eyes filled with a similar mix of wonder and intrigue. "My sons, meet Lucy, the goddess of time, and her consort, the hero Odysseus."

Lucy's breath caught in her throat as she took in the three divine beings before her. She had heard tales of Poseidon's sons, but seeing them now, their power and majesty were almost overwhelming.
