Chapter 3: Set Up

The rum punch still hummed pleasantly in Rick’s veins as they followed Magic away from Persephone’s Catch. She led them not back to the Defender, but onto a narrow, almost hidden footpath that plunged steeply from the cliffside restaurant’s edge. "Shortcut," she announced, already starting down.

Shortcut, my ass, Rick thought immediately. The path was little more than a goat track, winding erratically down the hillside. Loose volcanic rock skittered underfoot, threatening to twist an ankle. Thick, thorny bushes clawed at their legs. The heat intensified, trapped between the dense foliage. Magic moved with an easy, sure-footed grace, like she'd walked this treacherous route a thousand times. She probably had.

"Careful here," she called back, pointing to a patch of slick, moss-covered stone. "Bit of a slide."

Kacey yelped as her sandal slipped, grabbing Rick’s arm for balance. "Holy crap, Magic! You weren't kidding about it being off the beaten path!"

Magic chuckled, steadying herself against a gnarled tree trunk. "Told you it was special! Worth every scratch, trust me. This beach... it’s like nothing else. Water so clear you see every grain of sand on the bottom. Like diving into liquid sapphire. Feels private... sacred, almost." She gestured downwards as they rounded a bend. "Look. Almost there."

Rick followed her gaze. The path dipped sharply again, then opened out. The cove below stole his breath.

It was a small crescent of blindingly white sand, embraced by steep, jungle-clad cliffs on three sides. The sea was an impossible, luminous turquoise, deepening to a vivid sapphire further out. Sunlight shattered on the surface, dazzling. It was utterly secluded, untouched. No footprints marred the sand, no boats dotted the horizon. Just the rhythmic sigh of waves and the distant cry of gulls.

"It’s… unreal," Kacey breathed, her earlier complaint forgotten, eyes wide with pure wonder. "Like a postcard, but real."

"Told you," Magic said, pride warming her voice. She scrambled down the final steep section, landing lightly on the soft sand. "Pure magic." She kicked off her flip-flops, sighing as her feet sank into the cool powder. "Right. Who's first in?"

Rick grinned, the physical exertion and the view pushing aside the lingering tension. He shrugged off the small backpack he’d brought from the jeep – sunscreen, towels, their water bottles. "Definitely me. That water’s calling." He started unbuttoning his linen shirt.

Kacey rummaged in her oversized woven bag. "Okay, where’s the swim bag? The one with our suits?" She frowned, digging deeper. "Rick? Did you grab it from the jeep?"

Rick paused, shirt half-off. "What? No. You said you had it. When we were packing the towels?"

"I said I had the towels," Kacey countered, her voice rising slightly. "You were supposed to grab the bag with the suits!"

"I thought you did! It was next to the towels!" Rick felt a familiar flicker of marital logistics frustration cutting through the paradise vibe.

Magic watched them, leaning against a smooth black boulder, a small, amused smile playing on her lips. She said nothing.

"Ugh!" Kacey dumped her bag onto the sand. Towels, sunscreen, sunglasses, a paperback – but no swimsuits. "Seriously, Rick? All that way down here? And back up that bloody goat track?" She gestured wildly at the steep, rocky path they’d just navigated. Sweat glistened at her temples.

Rick ran a hand through his hair, looking from the daunting climb back up to the impossibly inviting water. "Well… damn." The rum buzz made the idea of scrambling back up seem particularly unappealing.

Kacey planted her hands on her hips, staring at the water, then at Rick, then back at the path. A slow, deliberate smile spread across her face, transforming her frustration into something daring. Her blue eyes locked onto Rick’s, sparkling with sudden, reckless intent.

"Well," she announced, her voice dropping to a low, provocative purr. "I’m definitely not climbing all the way back up there just for a scrap of lycra." She took a step towards him, the knowing smile deepening, a challenge in her gaze. "Looks like you'd better strip off, big boy." She held his stare, the unspoken words hanging thick in the salt air. "We're going skinny dipping."

Her fingers went to the buttons of her own vibrant sundress. The suddenness of it, the boldness, punched the air from Rick’s lungs. His gaze flickered past Kacey to Magic, who was still leaning against the boulder, watching them with intense, unreadable dark eyes. The blush of the rum roared back, hotter this time, mixed with a dizzying surge of adrenaline and something else, primal and undeniable. The turquoise water shimmered, impossibly clear, impossibly inviting. Kacey’s smile dared him. Magic’s silence thrummed. The pristine sand felt suddenly electric under his bare feet. He reached for his belt buckle, the rasp of leather startlingly loud in the quiet cove. Magic pushed herself off the rock, her expression shifting from observation to something closer to anticipation. She didn't look away.

Kacey didn’t look away. Her fingers finished the last button. With a shrug of sun-kissed shoulders, the vibrant sundress pooled around her ankles like melted paint. She stood utterly bare on the pristine sand, the Caribbean sun painting her toned figure in stark relief against the blinding white, her blonde hair catching the light. "Come on," she demanded, her voice a low, teasing challenge that carried easily in the quiet cove. "What you waiting for? You’re usually the first one in the sea." Her blue eyes held his, unflinching, a dare mixed with something hotter, more urgent.

Rick swallowed, the rum warmth flaring into something else entirely. Magic’s dark gaze was a physical weight on his skin, impossible to ignore. He knew resistance was futile, absurd even, here on this hidden beach. He shrugged, a quick, resigned jerk of his shoulders. His belt buckle rasped, the zip hissed down. His linen trousers joined the dress on the sand, followed swiftly by his shirt. He stood naked, the breeze cool on his skin, the reality of exposure sudden and intense.

Kacey’s gaze swept him deliberately, head to toe, a slow, appreciative smile spreading across her face. Her eyes lingered pointedly below his waist. "Jesus, Rick," she breathed, a laugh bubbling under her words. "I swear that thing got bigger since we got here." It wasn't just a tease; her tone held genuine surprise, a spark of pure, primal appreciation. Color flooded Rick’s neck, clashing with his tan. He wanted to look away, to laugh it off, but found himself pinned between Kacey’s open appraisal and Magic’s silent, intense scrutiny from her rock.

Magic coughed, a sharp, choked sound that turned into a low, rich laugh. She pushed herself fully upright, her own dark eyes sweeping the scene – Kacey bronzed and confident, Rick flushed and aroused. A slow, knowing grin curved her lips. "Well," she drawled, her Barbadian lilt smooth as honey over gravel, her gaze lingering on Rick before sliding to Kacey. "If you two are skinny dipping..." She reached for the hem of her simple white t-shirt, pulling it up and over her head in one fluid motion. "...I’d better join you then." She hooked her thumbs into the waistband of her cut-offs. "If there’s no complaints?" Her question hung in the air, heavy with implication, her dark eyes challenging them both as she pushed the denim down long, powerful legs. She stood revealed, stunningly beautiful and utterly unashamed, the sun gleaming on dark skin and the subtle curve of muscle.

Kacey answered with a throaty laugh, turning towards the water. "Complaints? From us? Not a chance, darling." She took Rick’s hand, her skin warm and firm against his, and pulled him towards the turquoise shallows. "Last one in buys the next round of Mount Gay!" She broke into a run, her bare feet kicking up arcs of dazzling sand, pulling Rick stumbling after her towards the beckoning cool.

Magic watched them for a heartbeat, a smile playing on her lips. Then she moved, not running, but striding with purpose, her own form a study in fluid grace. She entered the water a few paces behind them, the sea sliding over her skin with a sigh. Rick gasped as the shockingly cool water hit his thighs, then his waist, the sudden immersion a jolt of pure sensation against the heat of the sun and the rum and the weight of their combined gaze. Kacey squealed beside him, diving forward into a shallow, smooth glide, her pale form shimmering beneath the crystalline surface.

Rick followed, ducking under. The silence underwater was profound, muffling the world above. Sunlight fractured into dancing shards, illuminating the rippled white sand below. He surfaced, pushing wet hair from his eyes, blinking salt water. Kacey popped up nearby, laughing, shaking her head like a golden retriever. Magic waded deeper, the water lapping at her ribs, her dark eyes fixed on him, the knowing smile still there. She wasn't just joining them. She was stepping into the current they’d created. The pristine cove felt suddenly charged, intimate, the clear water offering no hiding place. He treaded water, suspended in turquoise, acutely aware of every inch of his bare skin, of Kacey splashing beside him, and of Magic, watching, waiting, as the waves gently rocked them.

They spent a good thirty minutes swimming, laughing and enjoying 'paradise found'. The water was a perfect temperature—cool enough to refresh, warm enough to stay in forever. Kacey dove under, surfacing with a splash that caught Rick square in the face, her laughter echoing off the cliffs. Magic moved through the water like she was born in it, all effortless grace, her dark skin gleaming under the sun's caress.

Eventually, Magic left the water as they both watched. Her body was incredible—coffee-colored skin glistening with droplets, incredible toned curves, a tight ass, and large firm breasts with small hard nipples. She wrung out her hair, the water cascading down her body in rivulets, completely unselfconscious as she walked up the beach toward their scattered belongings.

Rick exhaled, realizing he’d been holding his breath.

Soon after, they both got out and lay on their towels together, the hot sand pressing into their backs. Kacey, still a little buzzed from the rum and the sun, started teasing Rick, her fingers tracing idle patterns on his chest. She giggled, the sound low and mischievous.

"Behave," Rick told her, voice dropping to a murmur. "You'll make me hard." He glanced toward Magic, who was bent over, shaking out her towel, the curve of her back a sinuous line.

Kacey didn’t care. She leaned in, lips brushing his ear. "Mmm, too late." Her hand slid lower, fingers skimming dangerously close to where he was already half-aroused.

Rick caught her wrist before she could go further. "Kacey, behave," he repeated, a warning in his voice that wasn’t entirely serious.

She pulled back, tilting her head in mock consideration, her eyes dancing with mischief. "Well, if you don’t want to kiss me," she said, voice dripping with playful challenge, "I’ll find someone who will."

Before he could respond, she got up, swaying slightly, and walked over to Magic. They exchanged hushed words, Kacey whispering something in her ear that made Magic throw her head back with laughter. Then, with one lustful look back at Rick, Kacey bent over Magic and gave her a long, lingering French kiss.

To Rick’s surprise, it met absolutely no resistance.

Magic’s hands slid up Kacey’s arms, fingers curling into her shoulders, pulling her closer. The kiss deepened, slow and deliberate, and Rick could only watch, pulse thudding in his throat. He’d expected Kacey to tease—to flirt—but this wasn’t just playfulness. This was something else. Something real.

When they finally broke apart, Magic’s dark eyes flicked to Rick, heavy-lidded and knowing. A smirk tugged at her lips. "Sorry Rick, hope you don’t mind, she promised me a bottle of rum……what’s a girl to to?"

Kacey turned to face him, her lips still parted, breath coming a little faster. Her gaze was bright, daring. Waiting to see what he’d do.

Rick didn’t move. Couldn’t. The salt air tasted thick, metallic almost, sticking in his throat. Kacey’s challenge hung there between them, sharp as the sun glinting off Magic’s damp shoulders. That kiss hadn’t been just a tease. It had been… deliberate. Hungry. His gaze flicked from Kacey’s defiant stare to Magic’s knowing smirk. The rum from Mount Gay churned warmly, mixing dangerously with the adrenaline surging through him. His own nakedness felt suddenly hyper-real, exposed under their combined attention.

A slow, rough chuckle finally escaped him, echoing oddly flat against the cliffs. He ran a hand through his wet hair, the grains of sand grating against his scalp. "Jesus, Kace," he managed, his voice deeper than intended. He gestured vaguely towards Magic, who hadn’t looked away, her dark eyes locked on his. "The minute Magic told us she was bi back in the jeep..." He shook his head, meeting Kacey’s bright, unrepentant gaze. "...I knew you’d make a move, you lil’ slut." .He laughed again, the sound tight, lacking its usual ease. "Couldn’t even wait for the damn rum bottle payment, huh?"

Kacey just grinned, utterly unashamed, a feral little spark in her ocean-blue eyes. Magic’s low, rich laugh joined his, warmer, more genuine amusement. "Payment’s always negotiable, Rick," Magic drawled, her gaze sliding deliberately over Kacey, then back to him. She took a step closer to Kacey, their bare arms brushing. Saltwater droplets traced paths down Magic’s collarbone. "Besides," she added, her voice dropping to a smoky murmur that carried clearly in the quiet cove, "looked like fun. Tasted like it too." Her fingertips brushed Kacey’s hip, a casual, possessive touch that sent a jolt straight through Rick’s core.

He saw it then, the raw heat in Kacey’s responding look towards Magic, the subtle shift in her stance leaning into that touch. It wasn’t just Kacey playing games anymore. It was an invitation. A threshold. The turquoise water lapped at his ankles, cool contrast to the fire spreading under his skin. His own arousal, impossible to hide, felt like a live wire humming in the space between them. Magic’s eyes tracked the flush creeping up his neck, down his chest. Her knowing smile deepened, curving into something less amused, more… expectant. Predatory, almost.

"Fun’s the whole point, isn’t it?" Kacey breathed, her gaze never leaving Magic’s face. She was radiant, vibrating with chaotic energy, the blonde hair plastered to her neck, water droplets clinging to her eyelashes. She looked utterly alive, utterly beyond his control. Magic’s hand slid from Kacey’s hip to the small of her back, pulling her half a step closer. The air crackled.

Magic tilted her head then, finally looking directly at Rick again. Her dark eyes held his, unblinking. The playful manager was gone. This was something elemental, grounded and sure. Her gaze traveled slowly down his body, lingering deliberately, appreciatively, before snapping back up to meet his eyes. One eyebrow arched, just slightly. "So," Magic said, her voice smooth as the rum they’d tasted, low and resonant against the shush of the waves. Her free hand gestured loosely, encompassing the secluded beach, the three of them standing naked under the Caribbean sky. "You gonna join us? Or just keep standing there looking pretty?"

Magic’s challenge hung in the humid air, thick as the scent of salt and sunbaked skin. Rick felt the weight of her gaze, Kacey’s expectant breathlessness beside her, the impossible clarity of the water against his legs. His own body throbbed with an insistent, undeniable heat. "Looking pretty?" he echoed, the rum and the raw edge of the moment roughening his voice. He took a step forward, water swirling around his thighs. "I can do a lot more than just look, Magic."

A reckless grin spread across Kacey’s face. "That’s more like it, big boy." She reached for him, her hand cool and wet against his chest, pulling him closer to where she and Magic stood, barely inches apart. Magic’s dark eyes never left his, a spark of pure, uncharted anticipation igniting within their depths. The space between the three of them crackled, charged not just with lust, but with the dizzying potential of the forbidden, of the pristine beach holding its breath.

JUST AS SHE SAID THAT CAME A SLOW RUMBLE OF THUNDER FROM FAR AWAY.

The sound wasn't loud, but it was profound. A deep, vibrating groan that seemed to travel up through the sand into their bare feet. All three stopped.Froze. The charged silence shattered. Heads snapped towards the open sea.

Far out on the horizon, where the sapphire blue met the lighter sky, a dark, monstrous wall had formed. It wasn't just clouds; it was an advancing front, churning, bruised purple and green, towering into the atmosphere. Lightning flickered silently within its depths, like distant camera flashes. Another rumble rolled across the water, longer this time, more insistent. The storm wasn't just coming; it was devouring the horizon, moving with terrifying speed towards their tiny cove.

"Holy shit," Kacey breathed, the playful glint vanishing, replaced by wide-eyed apprehension. She instinctively pressed closer to Rick, her earlier bravado washed away by the sheer scale of the approaching fury.

Magic was already moving, her manager’s efficiency "That’looks like it’s going to be a big one. We need get moving I’m afraid guys. Get your clothes on and let’s get cack to the jeep. That storm will be on us in about an hour, hopefully we’ll be close to the resort by then !" “ let’s not panic but we need to get going now,” Magic repeated, her voice sharp, cutting through the stunned silence. The playful woman from moments before was gone, replaced by the focused manager who ran a tight ship. She was already striding towards her discarded shorts and shirt, movements swift, economical. “That storm’s moving faster than I like. Looks mean.

The distant thunder rolled again, a deeper, more insistent growl. Kacey jumped, her hand instinctively gripping Rick’s arm tighter. “Shit, Magic, how far?” Her earlier bravado had evaporated, replaced by wide-eyed alarm as she stared at the churning wall of cloud devouring the horizon.

“Far enough we have time if we hustle,” Magic called back, already stepping into her shorts, not bothering with underwear, just efficiency. She yanked her shirt over her head. “But not time to dawdle. Clothes on, grab everything, move.” She stuffed her feet into her flip-flops, not bothering with the straps. “Rick, the rum!”

The command snapped Rick into action. The thrum of arousal was instantly replaced by a different kind of adrenaline. He turned, scanning the sand where their clothes lay tangled. Kacey was already scrambling, scooping up her sundress and shaking sand off it violently before pulling it over her head, her movements jerky. Rick grabbed his linen trousers, stepping into them awkwardly, still damp, the fabric clinging. He fumbled with the buttons on his shirt.

Another flicker of lightning, closer this time, illuminated the underside of the boiling clouds for a split second. The following thunderclap was sharper, louder, a cracking whip across the sky. “Faster!” Magic urged, already stuffing towels into the beach bag, her eyes constantly flicking to the approaching tempest. She snatched up her sunglasses and Kacey’s woven bag.

“Where’s my damn sandal?” Kacey yelped, hopping on one foot, scanning the sand frantically.

“Leave it!” Magic commanded, shouldering the beach bag. “No time! Go barefoot or use the flip-flops in the jeep! Rick, rum now!”

Rick spotted the precious bottles nestled beside the bag. He snatched up the XO, the Black Barrel, and the Single Estate, clutching them awkwardly against his damp chest. “Got ‘em!”

“Okay, go!” Magic pointed emphatically towards the hidden path snaking up the cliff face. “Single file, watch your step! Kacey, behind me. Rick, bring up the rear. Don’t stop.”

Kacey hesitated only a second longer, then dashed after Magic, her bare feet slapping against the hot sand before hitting the rocky entrance of the path. Magic was already climbing, moving with that same sure-footed agility as before, but faster now, driven by necessity. Kacey scrambled after her, grabbing roots and rock edges for purchase, her sundress catching on thorns.

Rick followed, the rum bottles clinking together precariously as he navigated the steep, loose incline. The air felt heavy, thick, pressing down. Sweat mixed with lingering salt water stung his eyes. Below, the idyllic turquoise water now looked ominous, churning with dark undertones as the wind picked up, whipping the palm fronds above them into a frantic rustle.

“Almost at the top!” Magic called down, her voice strained but clear. She hauled herself over the final lip of the path onto the level ground near the old tamarind tree. She reached back, grabbing Kacey’s wrist to pull her the last few feet. Kacey stumbled onto flat earth, breathing hard, brushing dirt and leaves from her dress.

Rick clambered up moments later, shoving the rum bottles safely into the beach bag Magic held open. He wiped sweat and grit from his forehead. The wind was stronger here, whipping their damp hair, carrying the first fat, warm drops of rain. The storm was a vast, dark shroud filling half the sky now, the thunder a near-constant rumble.

Magic didn’t pause. “Jeep!” She broke into a jog towards the vehicle parked under the trees. Raindrops began splattering the dusty windshield, big and heavy. Kacey scrambled into the front passenger seat, slamming the door just as the heavens opened in earnest. Rick threw himself into the back, dumping the beach bag beside him as Magic cranked the engine. It roared to life instantly.

Magic slammed the jeep into gear, the tyres spitting mud and wet leaves as she pulled a tight turn onto the narrow track leading back towards the main road. The wipers slapped frantically against the sudden deluge, barely clearing the view. The lush greenery around them was reduced to a blur of wet green and brown through the streaked glass. The jeep jolted violently over ruts made slick by the rain.

“Jesus!” Kacey gasped, gripping the dashboard, knuckles white. The cozy intimacy of the beach felt like a lifetime ago, replaced by the primal urgency of escaping the storm’s fury. Rain hammered on the canvas roof like impatient fists.

Magic leaned forward, squinting through the downpour, navigating the treacherous track with intense concentration, jaw set. “Hold on!” she shouted over the drumming rain and the jeep’s straining engine. “This mud’s getting slick!”

Rick braced himself against the back of Kacey’s seat as the jeep fishtailed slightly. He glanced out the side. Through the sheets of rain, he caught glimpses of the coastline. The sapphire sea was gone, replaced by churning, leaden grey waves. Lightning split the sky directly overhead, the simultaneous thunderclap so loud it vibrated the jeep’s frame.

“Okay?” Magic yelled, her eyes flicking to Kacey in the passenger seat next to her.

Kacey nodded, mute, her face pale but determined. She managed a shaky thumbs-up.

Rick leaned forward between the seats. “We good? Resort close?”

“Getting there!” Magic shouted back, accelerating as the track finally met the marginally better-conditioned coastal road. She turned the wipers to maximum. The headlights cut weak cones through the grey curtain. “Another fifteen minutes, maybe twenty in this mess! Should be back just as it really unleashes!” She gripped the wheel tighter as a vicious gust rocked the jeep.
