Chapter 1: Moans Amongst the Chatter
The midday sun hung heavy over the university campus, its heat shimmering off the manicured lawns like a mirage. Trish Davies sat hunched on the backless bench near the central fountain, her textbook on post-structuralist theory propped open on her lap. The fountain’s gentle burble, usually a soothing counterpoint to her thoughts, today felt drowned out by the hum of lunchtime chatter and the faint, rhythmic sound of… something.
She frowned, her pen hovering over the page as the noise wormed its way into her focus. It was soft but unmistakable—breathy, rhythmic, almost a moan. Trish’s eyes flicked up, scanning the benches around her. Students lounged in clusters, laughing, eating, scrolling through their phones, oblivious. The sound seemed to be coming from her left, where Clara Hernandez sat perched on the other side of the bench.
Trish’s eyes flicked to Clara’s phone, the sound of soft moans cutting through the rhythmic splashing of the fountain. Trish caught a flicker of movement, the blur of skin and motion. Her curiosity prickled, sharp and insistent, though she tried to ignore it.
“What’re you watching?” The question tumbled out before she could stop it, her voice louder than she intended.
Clara looked up, her dark eyes gleaming with amusement under the midday sun. “Porn,” she said, as casually as if she’d announced she was scrolling through Instagram.
Trish blinked, her brain stuttering to process the word. “Porn? Like… actual porn?”
“Yeah,” Clara replied, tilting the screen slightly so Trish could see. “Why? You’ve never seen it before?”
Trish’s face burned as the images came into focus—close-ups, raw and unflinching, the kind of thing she’d only ever seen in private. Her stomach twisted, a mix of shock and something else she couldn’t quite name. “I mean, yeah, but… here? In public?”
Clara shrugged, her shoulders lifting and falling with practiced nonchalance. “It’s just a video. Like any other.”
Trish glanced around nervously, half-expecting someone to notice, to call them out, but the students milling about were oblivious. The fountain’s gentle burble masked the sounds, and the sunlight glinted off Clara’s phone screen, making it hard to see from a distance.
“Want to watch?” Clara asked, her voice light, almost teasing.
Trish froze, her mouth opening and closing like a fish out of water. “What?”
“Come on,” Clara interrupted, scooting over on the bench to make room. “It’s more fun with company.”
Trish hesitated, her heart pounding in her chest. This was insane. She should grab her textbook, walk away, pretend this never happened. But something about Clara’s easy confidence, the way she seemed so unbothered, made Trish’s curiosity flare again.
“I… I shouldn’t,” she stammered, though her feet stayed rooted to the ground.
Clara smirked, leaning back against the bench. “Suit yourself.” She turned her attention back to the screen, the sounds growing louder, more insistent.
The silence between them stretched, thick and electric. Trish’s fingers twitched, her resolve crumbling with every second. She glanced at Clara, then at the phone, then back at Clara.
“Okay,” she said finally, her voice barely above a whisper.
Clara’s grin widened, triumphant. “Knew you couldn’t resist.”
Trish slid onto the bench beside her, her textbook abandoned on the ground. The screen was bright, the images vivid, and her heart raced as she leaned in closer.
Clara tilted her phone slightly, the screen now angled toward Trish with an almost deliberate boldness. The video played on, its explicit imagery unmistakable to anyone who might glance their way. Trish’s stomach knotted as she glanced around, half-expecting someone to notice, but the campus bustle carried on as usual. The fountain’s gentle burble seemed to mock her anxiety, a serene backdrop to the chaos unfolding in her head. She stared at the screen, her cheeks burning, unable to look away.
The video was raw, unapologetic, the kind of thing Trish would never watch on her own. Bodies moved with a rhythm that was both alien and mesmerizing, their sounds barely audible over the distant chatter of students. Clara leaned back on the bench, her posture relaxed, as if they were discussing the weather. Trish’s fingers gripped the edge of the seat, her knuckles whitening. She felt like she was teetering on the edge of something she didn’t quite understand.
“Damn,” Clara said, her voice casual but laced with amusement. “Look at the size of that thing.” She pointed at the screen, her tone as matter-of-fact as if she were commenting on a math problem. Trish’s eyes darted to the image, her breath catching in her throat. She couldn’t decide what was more unsettling—the video itself or Clara’s nonchalance.
Trish swallowed hard, her mouth suddenly dry. “I don’t know,” she mumbled, her voice barely above a whisper. She felt like a child caught in a conversation she wasn’t ready for. Clara chuckled, a low, throaty sound that sent a shiver down Trish’s spine. She shifted uncomfortably, her gaze flicking back to the screen, then away, then back again.
“I mean, seriously,” Clara continued, leaning closer, her shoulder brushing Trish’s. “How good do you think that feels?” Her voice was soft, almost conspiratorial, as if they were sharing a secret. Trish’s heart pounded, her mind scrambling for a response. She opened her mouth, closed it, then opened it again, but no words came out.
Clara smirked, her eyes gleaming with mischief. “Come on, you must have some idea.” She tilted her head, studying Trish with a curiosity that felt invasive. “Have you ever seen anything like that in real life?” The question hung in the air, heavy and unrelenting. Trish’s face flamed, her thoughts a jumble of embarrassment and something else she couldn’t quite name.
Before Trish could process the answer, Clara shifted. Her legs parted slightly, the fabric of her skirt riding up her thighs with a deliberate motion. Trish froze, her breath catching in her throat as the sunlight caught the glistening curve of Clara’s bare skin. Her hand moved next, fingers slipping effortlessly between her legs, and Trish’s stomach lurched. “What are you doing?” she hissed, her voice low and strained, eyes darting around the crowded courtyard.
Clara’s fingers didn’t stop, the rhythmic motion steady and unashamed. Her breath hitched faintly, a soft sound that made Trish’s face burn. “Right here? Are you crazy?” Trish whispered, her voice cracking under the weight of disbelief. She leaned closer, as if proximity might somehow shield them from the world, her heart pounding so loudly she was sure everyone could hear it.
Clara tilted her head back slightly, her eyes half-lidded and unfocused. “Masturbating to porn,” she murmured, the words slipping out between shallow breaths. Her hand moved with practiced ease, unbothered by Trish’s panic or the open air of the campus. Trish’s mouth went dry, her mind scrambling for something to say, something to do, but all she could do was stare, caught between shock and a strange, uncomfortable fascination.
The fountain burbled softly in the background, its gentle sound a stark contrast to the tension crackling between them. Trish’s hands clenched into fists in her lap, her nails digging into her palms as she fought the urge to grab Clara’s wrist again. “Someone’s going to see,” she whispered, her voice trembling. Clara just smiled, her gaze flicking to Trish for a moment before returning to her phone. “Let them,” she said, her tone light, almost teasing, as if the very idea amused her.
Trish’s stomach churned, her thoughts a tangled mess of disbelief and something she couldn’t quite name. She glanced around again, half-expecting to see someone staring, but the world around them seemed oblivious, the students milling about as if nothing was happening. Clara’s breathing grew heavier, her movements more deliberate, and Trish felt a surge of heat crawl up her neck. She wanted to look away, to stand up and walk away, but she couldn’t. She was rooted to the bench, her body betraying her as much as Clara’s betrayed her.
“This is insane,” Trish muttered, more to herself than to Clara. Her voice was barely audible, swallowed by the hum of the campus. Clara didn’t respond, her focus entirely on the screen in her hand and the rhythm of her fingers. Trish’s chest tightened, her breath coming in shallow gasps as she tried to reconcile the woman beside her with the Clara she thought she knew. The Clara who aced every exam, who charmed everyone she met, who seemed so effortlessly put together.
And yet here she was, sprawled on a bench in broad daylight, her skirt hiked up and her hand moving with a confidence that made Trish’s stomach twist. “Why are you doing this?” Trish asked, her voice barely above a whisper, the question slipping out before she could stop it. Clara paused for a moment, her fingers stilling as she turned to look at Trish. For a second, her expression softened, something almost vulnerable flickering in her eyes. Then she smiled, that same easy, unbothered smile, and said, “Because I feel like it.”
The simplicity of the answer hit Trish like a punch to the gut. She opened her mouth to say something, anything, but no words came. Clara’s hand resumed its rhythm, her breathing deepening again, and Trish felt a strange, aching tension settle in her chest. She sat there, frozen, the world spinning around her as Clara’s quiet moans mingled with the sound of the fountain.
As Clara’s fingers moved with purpose, Trish’s initial discomfort began to shift. She couldn’t look away, her gaze drawn to the subtle movements beneath Clara’s skirt. “You’re insane,” Trish whispered, but there was no conviction in her voice. Clara’s moans grew louder, her head tilting back slightly. Trish’s hands twitched, a strange protectiveness washing over her. “Hey, shhh! Someone will hear you,” she hissed, her eyes darting around.
Clara’s phone slipped slightly, the screen tilting dangerously. Without thinking, Trish reached out and steadied it, her fingers brushing against Clara’s. The contact sent a jolt through her, and she pulled her hand back as if burned. Clara didn’t seem to notice, her focus entirely on the screen and the sensation building within her. The sounds of her fingers moving against her skin grew louder, wet and rhythmic, and Trish’s breath hitched.
“Clara, you have to be quiet,” Trish begged, her voice barely above a whisper. Clara’s legs parted wider, her skirt pooling around her hips. Her moans escalated, raw and unfiltered, and Trish’s heart raced. She leaned closer, her hand hovering near Clara’s mouth. “Please, just—” Trish started, but Clara interrupted with a gasp, her body tensing.
The video on the screen reached its climax, and Clara’s movements quickened, her breaths coming in short, sharp bursts. “I’m cumming!” she moaned, her voice rising dangerously. Trish panicked, her hand clamping over Clara’s mouth just as a scream threatened to escape. Clara’s body convulsed, her hips lifting slightly off the bench, her muffled cries vibrating against Trish’s palm.
Trish held her breath, her eyes scanning the area for any sign of the people around noticing. Clara’s body slowly relaxed, her breathing evening out.
Trish yanked her hand away from Clara’s mouth like she’d touched something scorching. “You’re crazy!” she hissed, her voice cracking under the weight of disbelief. “If I hadn’t been here, you would’ve been caught!” Her eyes darted around the fountain area, half-expecting a crowd to have formed around them, but the campus hummed on like nothing had happened.
Clara just tilted her head, a lazy smirk playing on her lips. “Why should I care if people saw me?” she said, her tone dripping with nonchalance. She tapped her phone screen, and the sound of a moan escaped the speakers, low and unmistakable.
Exhaustion seemed to hit Clara all at once, and she slumped back on the bench, her body stretching out like a cat in the sun. Her skirt, already riding high, was yanked up to her waist in one fluid motion, exposing her completely. Trish froze, her stomach twisting as Clara’s hand moved with purpose, the sharp slap of skin against skin echoing louder than the fountain’s gentle trickle.
“You’re insane,” Trish whispered, her voice trembling. She felt like she was caught in a dream, the kind where you’re screaming but no sound comes out. Her legs moved before her brain could catch up, and she stood abruptly, the bench creaking under her weight. “I’m leaving,” she muttered, though Clara didn’t seem to hear her, her eyes glued to the phone screen.
As Trish turned to go, the murmurs started. A guy walking by stopped mid-stride, his mouth hanging open. A group of girls by the fountain stifled giggles, their whispers sharp and incredulous. “Is she—?” one of them started, but Trish didn’t stick around to hear the rest.
The sound of Clara’s pleasure followed her as she walked away, each slap louder than the last. Trish’s face burned, her chest tight with a mix of shame and something she couldn’t quite name—anger, maybe, or envy. She glanced over her shoulder one last time, catching a glimpse of Clara sprawled on the bench, her body bathed in the afternoon sun, utterly unbothered.
People were staring now, their whispers growing louder, but Clara didn’t seem to care. She was in her own world, the sounds from her phone mingling with her own, a spectacle for anyone who dared to look. Trish quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her ears, and didn’t stop until she was far enough away that the only thing she could hear was the faint burble of the fountain.
