Chapter 3: Hot Tub Temptation
The silence after the guest house door clicked shut was heavier than before. It was just Mark and me now, standing ten feet apart on the darkening deck, with the hot tub glowing like a blue lagoon between us. I could feel the faint steam on the air, carrying the faint chemical scent of chlorine.
Mark watched Sabrina—or rather, the shell of me—disappear inside. He turned back, his expression a mix of concern and undisguised opportunity. “Poor guy,” he said, though his focus was entirely on me. He took another sip of his beer. “Hope it’s nothing serious.”
“Just needs to sleep it off,” I said, my voice sounding impossibly small. I still held the full bottle he’d given me. The liquid inside was amber, familiar, a craft IPA from a brewery we both loved. In my old hands, it would’ve been comforting. In these small, slender fingers with their perfect pink nails, it felt like a prop. An anchor to a self that was currently stumbling around my guest bedroom.
“So,” Mark said, moving to the edge of the hot tub. He swirled the water with a hand. “Water’s perfect. You gonna join me? I hate to let it go to waste.” His tone was casual, but his eyes held a hopeful light I’d never seen directed at me before. It was a hunter’s patience, a fisherman’s quiet thrill.
A shudder ran through me, a full-body tremble that started in my core and radiated out. It wasn’t just fear. It was a brutal, physiological response to the suggestion, to his attention, to the cool evening air on my exposed skin. I felt a sharp, tight sensation across my chest, a pinpoint tightening that drew my own gaze downward.
My nipples had hardened into distinct, visible points against the thin, soaked turquoise fabric of the bikini top. They pressed against the material, blatant and obscene. A flush of scorching heat traveled from my chest up my neck to my face. This body had a thermostat all its own, reactions on a hair trigger.
I couldn’t speak. If I opened my mouth, a sob or a scream might come out. So I just nodded, a quick, jerky motion.
Then, acting on a sudden, desperate need for courage I didn’t possess, I lifted the beer bottle to my lips. My new lips. They wrapped around the glass differently—fuller, softer. I tipped it back and drank. The experience was alien. The opening seemed too wide for this smaller mouth. The hoppy, bitter flavors exploded across my tongue, but the profile was different—the citrus notes were brighter, almost painfully sharp, the malt sweetness more cloying. It was like hearing a favorite song played on detuned instruments. I chugged it, the cold liquid burning a path down my narrower throat, hitting my empty, shrunken stomach with a hollow, sloshing weight. I drained it, gasping as I pulled the bottle away, a trickle of beer escaping from the corner of my mouth. I wiped it with the back of my hand, a coarse, unthinking gesture that felt all wrong.
“Whoa, easy there,” Mark chuckled, a low, appreciative sound. “Thirsty, huh?”
I set the bottle down on the concrete with a sharp clack. The world took on a slight, fuzzy edge. The beer, on this tiny body’s empty stomach, went straight to my head. A warm, dangerous buzz began to hum in my veins, muting the sharpest edges of my panic, wrapping the nightmare in a soft, woolly blanket.
Without a word, I walked to the hot tub. Each step was a study in unstable engineering. My hips had a mind of their own, a rolling, side-to-side sway that was dictated by the new width of my pelvis, the unfamiliar alignment of my legs. My center of gravity, so much higher in this compact frame, made me feel perpetually on the verge of tipping forward. The soft, heavy weight on my chest moved independently with the motion, a gentle, persistent oscillation that no amount of mental control could stop. I felt the fleshy globes touch my inner arms with each step. The sensation was maddening.
I reached the tub. The step was higher than my legs were used to. I had to place a tiny foot, a size five, on the rough coping stone and push up. The sandal slipped a little. I grabbed the rail, my weak grip surprising me, and hauled myself onto the edge. I sat, swinging my legs over into the swirling, luminous blue.
The heat was an instant shock, a possessive embrace that stole my breath. It enveloped my feet, my calves, then my thighs as I lowered myself in. The water hit the sensitive skin of my inner thighs, the crease of my hips where the bikini bottom cut in, and a new, shocking point of contact between my legs—a complex, alien topography that clenched in response to the sudden, all-encompassing warmth. It was not at all like the blunt, external sensation I was used to. This was deep, internal, a flooding heat that seemed to seep into the very core of this new body.
I sank down onto the bench, the water rising to just below my collarbones. The buoyancy was immediate and profound. My body wanted to float. My breasts lifted, becoming nearly weightless, the water lapping just at the lower curves. The hard peaks of my nipples now breached the surface, two small, pinkish-brown islands in the turquoise fabric. I crossed my arms over my chest, then, realizing that only emphasized them, let them fall to my sides, gripping the edge of the seat.
Mark slid in beside me. The water displaced, rocking me. He was so much bigger. His presence was a tectonic shift in the small, hot world of the tub. He sighed, leaning back, spreading his arms along the rim. His right thigh, heavily muscled and rough with hair, brushed against my left under the water.
The contact was electric.
It was just skin. A casual, probably accidental touch. But in this hypersensitive shell, it was a jolt of raw voltage. The heat of his skin was magnitudes greater than the water. The rough texture of his leg hair was a startling scratch against my impossibly smooth thigh. A spark seemed to travel from the point of contact straight up into the pit of my stomach, coiling there, hot and tight.
“This is the life,” Mark murmured, closing his eyes. But he didn’t move his leg away.
The jets whirred to life with a sudden rumble, churning the water into a froth. A powerful stream of bubbles hit me directly in the small of my back, a deep, throbbing massage against muscles that were perpetually tense from carrying this strange, top-heavy form. An involuntary groan escaped my lips—a high, soft, utterly feminine sound of relief. My back arched slightly, pressing into the jet, which thrust my chest forward.
I saw Mark’s eyes open. He was watching me. Not my face. The view my arched back and floating breasts created. His gaze was dark, intent.
“Good, huh?” he said, his voice a little thicker.
I could only nod, paralyzed by the twin assaults of the jet’s pleasure and the shame of his stare. The beer buzz fogged my thoughts, a treacherous ally. It muted the screaming wrongness and let the purely physical sensations rise to the surface, vivid and undeniable. The heat. The massage. The solid, warm pressure of his leg against mine.
His hand moved under the water.
I felt it as a disturbance first, a current against my knee. Then the warmth of his palm settled on top of my kneecap. It was heavy. Possessive. His thumb began to move, stroking a slow, idle arc on the sensitive skin just above my kneecap.
My entire body went rigid. Every nerve ending in that patch of skin fired at once, sending cascading signals up my leg, into my spine, dissolving into a pool of liquid confusion in my belly. This was my best friend. Mark. We’d punched each other’s shoulders, arm-wrestled, hugged clumsily after a few too many. This was different. This touch was not casual. It was a question. An exploration.
A part of me, the part that was still Justin, screamed to shove his hand away, to bolt from the tub, to end this insane charade.
But another part, a deeper, animal part that belonged entirely to this body, reacted differently. It was a part that responded to the strength in his hand, the focused male attention, the pheromones cutting through the chlorine. A low, quiet pulse began between my legs, a rhythmic throb that matched the beating of my heart. It was an instinctual, biological welcome. An invitation this body understood perfectly.
I didn’t pull away.
I sat there, trapped in the swirling, hot water, with his hand on my knee and my breasts floating before his eyes, and I did nothing. The silence stretched, filled only by the rumble of the jets and the ragged sound of my own breathing. The momentum of the moment was a cresting wave, and I was locked inside it, hurtling toward a shore I couldn’t see.
