Chapter 3: The Virginia Slims Command Performance
The taste was a bitter, salty shock. Mike’s eyes watered as he pressed his mouth to her, the ghost of Jamal’s visit and the tannic red wine creating a nauseating, intimate perfume. He tried to focus on the mechanics—the softness of her inner thigh against his cheek, the familiar scent of her skin beneath the other, stronger layers—but Kirk’s presence loomed behind him, a heavy, watchful silence.
Sherie’s hand in his hair was not gentle. It was a firm, directing grip. She sighed, a theatrical, pleasure-soaked sound, but her body beneath him was strangely still, coiled.
“See, Kirk?” she breathed, her voice thick. “He’s getting better. Practice makes perfect, doesn’t it, darling?”
Mike didn’t dare stop. He worked his tongue, trying to elicit a real response from her, but she felt distant, a closed system.
Then her hand left his head. “Alright, that’s enough for now,” she said, patting his cheek dismissively.
Mike pulled back, confused, his lips wet. She pushed him gently aside and sat up on the chaise, swinging her legs down. She looked past him to Kirk, who stood a few feet away, his arms crossed, face unreadable.
“Your turn,” Sherie said to Kirk, her tone shifting from performative pleasure to cool instruction. “Show him how it’s done. Not the frantic gobbling you usually do. Slow. Like you’re tasting a fine wine. Like he did.”
Kirk’s eyebrows lifted. A challenge. The mention of Jamal’s technique, held up as a standard, ignited a flash of something hard in his eyes. He wasn’t the jealous type, not about shared intimacy, but he was fiercely proud. He nodded once, a tight jerk of his chin.
Mike scrambled back on his knees, making space. Kirk approached, but not with his usual confident swagger. He moved deliberately, kneeling before her with a focused intensity. He placed his hands on her knees, spreading them wider than Mike had dared. He didn’t dive in. He looked, for a long moment, studying her.
Then he leaned forward and began.
It was different. Kirk’s usual style was enthusiastic, hungry. This was… reverent. His mouth moved with a slow, deliberate precision, his tongue flat and broad before tapering to a pinpoint focus. He listened, it seemed, to the faintest hitch in her breath, adjusting his pressure accordingly.
Sherie’s performance fell away. Her back arched, not in a staged curve, but in a genuine, involuntary reflex. A sharp gasp escaped her, then a low, shuddering moan. Her hands flew to his head, not to guide, but to clutch.
“Yes,” she hissed, the word dripping. “There. Just like that.”
Mike watched, transfixed. This wasn’t the raw, destabilizing mastery of Jamal. This was Kirk, his friend, employing a learned, careful artistry, and it was working. A deep, complex jealousy twisted in Mike’s gut—not of Kirk, but of the skill, of the effect it was having. He was jealous of the method.
Sherie came apart quietly, a series of tense shudders and clenched fists, her head thrown back, mouth open in a silent cry. Kirk rode it out, slowing his movements until she lay spent, boneless against the chaise.
He pulled back, wiping his mouth with the back of his hand. He looked at Mike, not with triumph, but with a strange, exhausted gravity. “See?” he said, his voice hoarse.
Mike could only nod.
Sherie lay there for a full minute, catching her breath. Then, with a strength that seemed to surprise even her, she sat up. Her face was flushed, her eyes brilliantly clear. She looked from one man to the other, a slow, cat-like smile spreading.
“Excellent,” she pronounced. She stood, her legs steady. She walked to the bed, where her Virginia Slims and lighter lay. She lit one, the smoke curling in the lamplight. “Now, here’s the new rule.”
Both men watched her. Kirk stayed on his knees. Mike remained crouched on the floor.
“Kirk, you’re a fantastic lover. A dear friend. But you’re…” she searched for the word, exhaling smoke. “Predictable. Comfortable. Jamal was a thunderstorm. You, my dear, are a dependable, sunny day.”
Kirk’s jaw tightened, but he said nothing.
“Mike,” she continued, turning her gaze to her husband. “You are my devoted companion. My obedient little shadow. But you’re not a lover. Not like that.”
The words, delivered so casually, hung in the air like the smoke.
“So,” she said, pacing slowly. “We’re going to blend the curricula. Kirk, you’re going to teach him. Every time you’re with me, Mike will be there. Watching. Learning. Participating, when I allow it. You will show him exactly what I like. How to touch. How to taste. How to listen.”
Kirk blinked. “You want me to… train him?”
“I want you to demonstrate,” Sherie corrected. “He’s going to be my… primary attendant. But he needs an education. You’re the tutor.” She smiled, a sharp, gleaming thing. “Consider it a project. Your own personal teaching moment. And Mike,” she said, looking down at him. “You will learn. You will practice on me. And you will get it right. Understood?”
Mike felt a dizzying rush of humiliation and a dark, surging thrill. The cage felt both more absurd and more necessary than ever. He nodded mutely.
Kirk ran a hand over his face. “And Nikki?” he asked, referring to his wife.
“Nikki adores Mike,” Sherie said, waving a dismissive hand. “She’ll find it hilarious. And she gets you back, polished and inspired. Everyone wins.”
She stubbed out her cigarette, the decision final. “Now, it’s late. Kirk, thank you for the lesson. You can see yourself out.” She walked to Mike and cupped his chin, tilting his face up. “You. Shower. Then join me in bed. We have a lot to discuss.”
Kirk stood slowly, his knees cracking. He gave Sherie a long, complicated look—part respect, part frustration, part undeniable arousal. He nodded to Mike, a silent communication between them that seemed to say, Well, fuck.
Then he left, closing the bedroom door softly behind him.
The silence he left behind was different. Charged with a new purpose.
Mike stood on shaky legs and moved towards the bathroom. The hot water sluiced over him, but it couldn’t wash away the new reality. He was a student now. His wife’s pleasure was a syllabus, and his friend was the professor.
When he returned to the bedroom, clean and damp, Sherie was already under the covers. She had the sheet pulled up to her waist, her bare back against the headboard. She’d opened the balcony doors; a cool night breeze stirred the velvet curtains.
“Come here,” she said, her voice softer now.
He slid in beside her, the space between them humming.
“You were very good tonight,” she said, not looking at him, staring out at the dark. “Taking your medicine like that. In front of him.” She finally turned her head. “Did you like it? Seeing him do it better?”
Mike swallowed. The truth was a jagged thing. “It… showed me what I wasn’t doing.”
“Exactly.” She reached over and took his hand, her grip firm. “This isn’t a punishment, Mike. It’s an evolution. I want more. I deserve more. And I want you to be the one to give it to me.” She brought his hand to her lips and kissed his knuckles, a strangely tender gesture. “But you need to learn. So you will.”
He listened to the rustle of the trees outside, the distant hum of the city. The opulent room felt like a classroom, a laboratory. His shame began to morph, slowly, into a desperate, focused desire to please her.
“Alright,” he whispered.
Sherie smiled, a real smile this time, warm and possessive. She turned off the lamp, plunging them into soft moonlight. “Good,” she murmured, settling down beside him. “Lesson one starts tomorrow. Now go to sleep.”
Mike lay in the dark, her words echoing. Lesson one. The taste of her, and of the other men who had been there, still on his tongue. The scent of her perfume, and Kirk’s cologne, and the night air filled the room. He felt the weight of the empty cage on the nightstand, a promise and a threat. He was no longer just a spectator. He was an apprentice. And as he stared into the dark, he felt the first, faint flicker of a terrible, thrilling curiosity about what, exactly, his education would entail.
