Chapter 2: A Second Unraveling

The garage was silent except for their ragged breathing. Brock—the woman—looked up at Marco, her blue eyes wide with a need that had swallowed the last fragments of his friend. The damp heat of her handprint still burned on his thigh.

“You want to,” she whispered, stepping forward. Her voice was a low thrum that vibrated in the stale air. It wasn’t a question. “I can see it. All of you… wants to.”

Marco’s mind was a riot of no. But his body, traitorous and adrenaline-flooded, reacted to the proximity of a nakedly willing, breathtakingly shaped woman. She pressed against him, and the rational world dissolved into sensation: the smell of her hair, the impossible softness of her stomach against his clenched abs, the slick proof of her arousal soaking through both their clothes.

He pushed her back, a rough, shaky movement that sent her stumbling onto the twisted yoga mat near the workbench. She landed with a gasp, blonde hair fanning out. Instead of fear, a wild, delighted smile spread across her face.

“Yeah,” she breathed, hooking her fingers into the torn waistband of her shorts. “Like that.”

He shouldn’t. God, he shouldn’t. This was Brock. But the curse wasn’t just in her body—it was in the air, a thick, intoxicating musk that short-circuited logic. It promised oblivion. It promised an end to the choking horror of the last hour. Her eyes glazed with invitation, and something in Marco, something exhausted and furious and desperate, snapped.

He was on her before the thought finished, his mouth crashing down on hers. She tasted like candy and sweat. Her arms locked around his neck, pulling him down with a strength that belied her new frame. His hands, huge and calloused, roamed over the surreal landscape of her—cupping the full, heavy weight of a breast, the flesh impossibly soft and yielding under his palm. She moaned into his mouth, arching her back.

“Yes, yes, c’mon,” she chanted between kisses, her hands tearing at the waistband of his gym shorts. He helped, shoving them down just enough. There was no grace, no tenderness. It was a collision.

He entered her in one frantic, desperate thrust. She cried out, a sharp, satisfying sound that wasn’t pain. Her perfect breasts bounced with the impact, then settled into a rhythmic jiggle as he moved. Her legs wrapped around his waist, heels digging into the small of his back.

“Fuck, Marco, fuck!” she screamed, her voice echoing off the concrete walls. Her head thrashed side to side on the mat. She was a frenzy of encouragement, of pure, unthinking need. “Right there! Don’t stop! It’s so good!”

He was lost in it. The heat of her, the tight, wet friction, the way her nails scored his back. He drove into her, each snap of his hips a futile attempt to punish the curse, to fuck the insanity out of both of them. Her breasts bounced with every drive, a hypnotic, obscene rhythm.

Then her next yelp was different.

It wasn’t pleasure. It was sharp. Pinched.

Her back, which had been arched in ecstasy, suddenly stiffened. Her thighs, locked around him, trembled violently. “Wait,” she gasped. “Wait, it… hurts.”

The glaze of lust in her eyes cracked, revealing a flash of pure, unadulterated Brock-terror. “Marco… it’s happening. It’s—”

Her body convulsed under his. A sickening, wet grinding noise came from deep within her core, the sound of bones sliding against each other in all the wrong ways. He jerked back, pulling out of her as she screamed—a raw, tearing sound that choked off into a gurgle.

She fell from his grasp, collapsing onto her side on the cold, oily concrete. Her limbs began to twitch and jerk like she was being electrocuted.

“No, no, no,” Marco scrambled to his knees, hands hovering, useless. “Brock, hold on!”

She was crying, fat tears streaking through her perfect makeup. Her hands flew to her chest, clutching her breasts as they began to change. They weren’t just shrinking. They were deflating, the firm, round weight softening, the skin loosening like wax melting from a candle. The beautiful, swollen flesh receded back into her ribcage, leaving behind loose, pale skin that tightened slowly, too slowly, over a shifting pectoral structure.

She tried to speak. “M-Mar—” His name dissolved into a wet, guttural rasp. Her jaw unhinged with a soft pop. Her tongue, that perfect pink muscle, swelled in her mouth, pushing past her lips, thickening and lengthening, a slab of raw meat turning dusky pink. She gagged on it, eyes bulging with panic, her cries now just desperate, huffing whimpers through her nose.

The bones of her face stretched forward. Her delicate nose and chin blurred, smearing like wet clay, knitting together and pushing out, lengthening into a blunt, furry muzzle. A final, heartbreaking human sob was cut off as her vocal cords shredded and reconfigured. The sound that emerged was a high, confused whine.

Platinum blonde fur, the same shade as her hair, sprouted in a wave across her shrinking body. It erupted from her pores, swallowing the smooth skin, covering the retreating curves. Her fingers fused, nails darkening and hardening into claws that scrabbled uselessly on the concrete. Her spine elongated with a series of audible clicks, her pelvis narrowing. The last of her human form was consumed, clothes vanishing into the rapid growth of fur.

Where the voluptuous woman had lain, now a dog panted in shallow, terrified breaths.

A female golden retriever, covered in stunning, platinum fur, lay trembling on the dirty yoga mat. It—she—lifted her head. Her eyes, a familiar brilliant blue, found Marco’s. They held none of the airheaded lust. Only a bottomless, trapped confusion, and a plea so profound it stopped Marco’s heart.

The dog whined, a soft, shaky sound. She tried to get up, her new limbs clumsy and uncoordinated. She stumbled, her paws slipping in a patch of old motor oil.

She righted herself, paws splaying wide on the slick concrete. A full-body shake sent a ripple through her platinum fur, droplets of oil and something else—something clear and salty—flicking into the dim air.

Marco just stared, his own breath coming in ragged pulls. The smell of sex and sweat and her perfume still clung to him, a sickening cocktail mixed with the garage’s old grease. His mind was a hollow, ringing cave. He’d just been inside her. And now she was a dog. The disconnect was so vast it felt like a knife between his ribs.

The golden retriever looked down at one of her own front paws, lifting it, turning it in the faint light as if she’d never seen it before. She let out a quiet, bewildered whuff. Then those blue eyes, the only thing unchanged, lifted and locked onto him.

He saw the question in them. The profound, screaming what the fuck.

“Hey,” Marco said, his voice scraped raw. He slowly lowered himself from his knees to sit on the filthy floor, his back against the cold bench press. He didn’t trust his legs. “Easy. It’s me.”

The dog took a hesitant step. Then another. Her claws clicked softly. She stopped a few feet away, her nose twitching, sampling the complex, awful scent of him—of them. She whined again, lower this time, and dropped her head, ears flattening.

It was a posture of shame. Of defeat. Brock’s posture, from when he’d lost his first major competition years ago.

A fresh wave of nausea hit Marco. He swallowed it down. “It’s okay,” he whispered, though it wasn’t. Nothing was okay. “You’re still in there. I know you are.”

She padded closer, her movements still unnervingly new. She nudged his bare knee with her cold, wet nose. Then she leaned her whole head against his leg, a solid, warm weight. He flinched at the contact, memories of soft skin and softer sounds flashing behind his eyes.

He forced his hand up. It trembled. He hesitated, then let his fingers sink into the fur at her neck. It was unbelievably soft, like plush velvet. She let out a shuddering sigh that seemed to travel through her entire body.

He scratched gently, a mechanical, soothing motion. “We’re gonna fix this, brother,” he said, the word ‘brother’ feeling strange and necessary. “I don’t know how, but we are. We’ll find Lydia. We’ll make her undo it.”

The dog’s tail gave a single, tentative thump against the concrete. Then another. It was a slow, confused wag, but it was a response. A spark of connection in the wreckage.

Marco’s throat tightened. He stopped scratching and cupped her muzzle, making her look at him. Those familiar blue eyes stared back, swimming with a intelligence that was pure Brock, trapped behind a furry mask. The absurdity, the horror, the sheer impossibility of it all condensed into one fragile question.

“Brock,” he breathed, the word barely audible. “Is that you?”

The platinum tail wagged again, faster this time, thumping a steady, hopeful rhythm against the dusty floor.
