Chapter 1: Introduction
It was a dark, rainy night in the village of Darkwood, when young Emma, a beautiful dark elf girl, found herself sitting in front of her father. Her eyes were wide with fear as she listened to his words. "Emma, my dear, I have made a deal with Lord Thorne, to sell you to him for protection." Emma's heart skipped a beat as she realized the gravity of her father's words. She had never left her village before, nor had she ever experienced anything beyond the safety of its walls.
The idea of being sold to a stranger was terrifying for her, but her father had always been a just and fair ruler, and she trusted his judgment.
She watched as her father, the village elder, gathered some of her belongings. He handed them over to the traveling merchant who had come to take her away.
"Farewell, my dear," he said with a heavy heart, "may Lord Thorne be kind to you."
Emma nodded mutely, feeling a mix of sadness and fear gnawing at her stomach.
She knew that her father had made the right decision, but that didn't make it any easier to say goodbye. The elder placed a gentle hand on her shoulder, giving her a reassuring squeeze before turning away. Emma watched in silence as he walked back into the village, her heart heavy with dread.
As the merchant led her away from Darkwood and towards Lord Thorne's castle, Emma struggled to take in the changes in her surroundings. The rain had become a steady drizzle, and the once-familiar path was now unfamiliar territory.
