Chapter 2: Theme Stated

Ombre gasped in pain as the robot threw him back into his bed, his body crashing into the wall with a loud thud.

He lay there, panting, his body aching from the relentless assault. He could feel the cold metal of his chains against his wrists, his ankles, his chest. He was too focused on the pain, too focused on the humiliation.

He couldn't think straight, couldn't process what had just happened.

He tried to move, tried to sit up, but the chains held him in place. He was trapped, helpless, at the mercy of his masters.

His body was a playground for their twisted desires, a tool for their amusement. He hated them, hated the way they treated him, the way they used him. But he was powerless to stop them. He was just a mutant, a freak, a slave to their whims. He could feel the harsh light of the artificial sun casting a stark glow over the stark white walls.

His kitten ears drooped as he curled into a ball like a starving kitty.

Kaburamaru, his snake companion, slithered down from his shoulder to wrap around his waist, his cool scales providing a momentary comfort. Ombre's robotic arm and leg lay motionless, their metal surfaces reflecting the harsh light of the artificial sun.

The door to his cell slid open with a soft hiss, and in walked Milkman, its mechanical eyes scanning the room. Ombre tensed, his cat ears flattening against his head. He knew what was coming next, and he wasn't ready for it.

"Your masters have requested your presence," Milkman announced, its voice echoing through the cold, sterile room.

The robot grabbed Ombre by the chains, manhandling him until he was in his Master's throne room.

The room was a stark contrast to his cell, filled with opulent furnishings and a grand, sweeping staircase leading up to a dais where two thrones sat. Merak and Ankoku were already seated, their eyes fixed on Ombre as he was dragged before them.

"Ah, Ombre," Merak purred, his voice like velvet. "We've been waiting for you." His eyes flicked to the tentacles still attached to Ombre's body. "It seems Milkman has been... entertaining you."

Ombre's cat ears drooped even lower. "S-sorry, m-master...." Ombre stammered, his eyes cast downwards, his body still trembling from the ordeal. He could feel the weight of their gazes, the cold, calculating stares of his masters. He hated being at their mercy, hated the way they made him feel small, insignificant.

Ankoku leaned forward in his throne, his eyes narrowing as he studied Ombre. "You seem... different, Ombre," he observed, his voice smooth and dangerous. "What has Milkman done to you?"

Ombre's robotic arm twitched, his fingers clenching into a fist. He knew they were playing with him, toying with him like a cat with a mouse.

He could feel the tension in the room, the anticipation hanging heavy in the air. He knew they were waiting for him to make a move, to give them a reason to punish him further.

But he wouldn't give them the satisfaction. He wouldn't give them the power. He would endure, he would survive. He had to.

"Milkman has... enhanced me, my lords," Ombre said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside him. He looked up, meeting their gazes head-on. "It seems I can now... appreciate certain sensations more than before."

Merak's eyes widened slightly, a cruel smile playing on his lips. "Is that so?" he said, leaning back in his throne.

"Well, we must put that to the test, mustn't we, Ankoku?"

Ankoku's lips curled into a cold smile. "Indeed, Merak. After all, we have much to celebrate today."

Ombre's ears perked up at that. Today was his birthday, a fact his masters had conveniently forgotten for the past ten years. He had never been allowed to celebrate, never been given a moment of reprieve from his servitude. But he didn't dare mention it, didn't dare hope that this time might be different.

Merak snapped his fingers, and two guards entered the room, dragging a large, metallic crate between them.

Then, the two guards dragged Ombre into the box, forcing him inside.

The lid slammed shut, and the room was filled with a loud, metallic clang. Ombre was enveloped in darkness, the only sound the soft hum of the crate's mechanisms. He could feel the cold metal pressing against his skin, the chains digging into his wrists and ankles.

"Please," he whispered, his voice barely audible. "Let me out. Please."

But there was no response, no sound but the soft hum of the crate. He was alone, trapped in the darkness, his body aching from the day's events. He tried to calm his breathing, to focus on the present, but his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts and fears.

He could hear Merak chuckling as the crate was pushed into a room.

Then, it was opened, revealing that he was in a meeting room with a bunch of other Maifa Leaders.

Ombre squeaked quietly, nervous.

Ankoku patted his head, leading the poor boy out of the crate.

"You're in the meeting room now, Ombre. We have some important matters to discuss with the other Maifa leaders."

Ombre's eyes widened as he saw the room filled with Maifa leaders, their eyes all fixed on him. He could feel the weight of their stares, the cold, calculating looks they gave him. He was just a slave, a freak, a tool for their amusement. He hated being the center of attention, hated being treated like a spectacle.

Merak chuckled, his voice like velvet. "Don't be nervous, Ombre. We're all here to celebrate your birthday." He gestured to the other Maifa leaders. "These are your fellow Maifa leaders.
