The Glory Hole Gambit
Read the storyThe Rusty Nail suffers a major system failure, and through luck and combined determination, David, Veronica, and Ani manage to reach a strange space station. The station is a long-haul space truck stop where space transports rest, refuel, and recover. David had visited many space truck stops over the years, but never this one. He soon realizes that this truck stop is the legendary Glory Hole. The trio diagnoses that the Rusty Nail experienced a catastrophic failure of a major system, and without replacing it, the ship would never leave the station. The problem was they lacked the parts, credits, or means to salvage or replace the components. David, Veronica, and Ani try to figure out a way to repair their ship. Ani suggests they might steal the parts, while Veronica wants to do it covertly. David explains that both plans have the same flaw: they would still need to install the parts to leave, and the risk of getting caught is too high. David also explains that here at the Glory Hole, the quickest way to earn credits is through sex work.
