Chapter 3: The Morning After

Consciousness returned in soft, unfamiliar layers. The pillowcase was a cool, high-thread count cotton against her cheek, not her own faded linen. The light was wrong—pale gold and diffuse, filtering through sheer curtains she didn’t own. Violet blinked, her mind a blank slate of sleep. Then the scent hit her: citrus, lavender, and beneath it, the unmistakable musk of sex and male skin.

It all came back in a nauseating, thrilling rush. The rooftop debate. His fingers in the living room. The phone call. The suffocating thickness of him in her mouth, on her face.

She was in Chris’s bed.

She lay perfectly still, listening to his steady breathing behind her. His arm was a dead weight across her ribs, possessive even in sleep. She needed to move, to slip out and find the bathroom, to scrub the evidence from her skin and somehow piece herself back together. She started to shift, a millimeter at a time.

His arm tightened, pulling her back against the solid wall of his chest. “Leaving already?” His voice was sleep-roughened, his lips moving against the back of her neck.

Before she could answer, she felt it. A firm, insistent pressure against the small of her back. She glanced down over the slope of her shoulder, under the rumpled sheet.

In the clear morning light, without shadows or booze to soften the reality, it was a shocking sight. He was fully erect, the length of him resting against her spine, thicker and more pronounced than her memory—which she hadn’t thought possible—had branded into her. The sheer, casual power of it, just existing there in the calm dawn, left her stunned. It was less a part of him and more a separate entity, a demand made flesh.

He nuzzled her neck, his hand sliding up from her waist to cover her breast through her torn bra. “Morning,” he murmured, his voice a low rumble.

He turned her head and kissed her, a slow, deep, claiming kiss that tasted of sleep. Then his mouth traveled south, down her throat, over her collarbone. He tugged the cup of her bra down and took her nipple into his mouth, sucking hard until she gasped and arched off the mattress. Her fingers tangled in his tousled hair, not to guide him, but to hold on as he lavished attention on one breast and then the other, his tongue swirling, his teeth grazing lightly.

It was tender. It was affectionate. It was utterly disarming.

Then, in one fluid, powerful motion, he rolled her onto her back and came over her, straddling her hips. The sheets were bunched at their feet. The morning light carved the defined planes of his stomach, the V of his hips. He looked down at her, his expression unreadable, and took himself in hand.

He slapped the heavy, flushed head of his cock against her clit, once, twice—a teasing, almost cruel percussion that made her jolt. The weight of it was astounding, a hot, smooth brand. She opened her mouth, a feeble ‘wait’ forming on her lips. But the word died. It was so heavy. So hot. A visceral, primal heat that seeped into her, short-circuiting protest. She couldn’t bring herself to stop him. A low, helpless moan crawled out of her throat instead.

“Oh, fuck,” she breathed, her head tipping back into the pillow.

He grinned, a wicked, knowing thing, and continued, dragging the broad crown through her slick folds, painting her with her own wetness, applying just enough pressure to make her hips lift off the bed seeking more.

“Oh fuck, baby,” she groaned, her defiance, her politics, her guilt all burned away by a need more acute than any she’d ever known. Her hands gripped his thighs, her nails digging in. “Just put it in me already.”

The grin faded, replaced by a focus so intense it was frightening. He positioned himself, the tip nudging against her entrance. She was wet, but the sheer size was a logistical terror. He pressed forward, a slow, inexorable invasion.

There was a burning stretch, a fullness that bordered on pain, stealing her breath. She cried out, a short, sharp sound that melted into a shuddering sigh as he seated himself fully, buried to the hilt. He didn’t move, letting her adjust, his own body trembling with the effort of holding still. She felt impossibly full, stretched and split open on him, every internal contour mapped by his intrusive, magnificent girth.

“Christ,” he whispered, looking down at where they were joined. “You’re so fucking tight.”

Then he withdrew, almost completely, and drove back in. The second thrust was easier, the pain fading, overtaken by a deep, radiating pleasure that sparked from her core. He set a pace that was punishing and perfect, each stroke hitting a place inside her that had never been touched. Her earlier noises became chanted, broken words. “Yes—oh god—right there—”

He leaned down, bracing his hands on either side of her head, his thrusts becoming shorter, deeper, more focused. “Whose?” he grunted, his breath hot on her face.

She couldn’t think. The sensation was a white-noise roar. “What?”

“Whose is this?” he demanded, punctuating each word with a drive of his hips that made her see stars.

Comprehension dawned, dark and exhilarating. He was claiming her. After everything, he wanted the final surrender. The last shred of her loyalty combusted. “Yours,” she gasped. “It’s yours.”

A guttural sound ripped from him, and his rhythm fractured. He pistoned into her, once, twice, three more times, before slamming deep and holding there. She felt the hot, internal pulse of his release, a flooding warmth that tipped her over the edge immediately. Her orgasm was a silent, shattering convulsion, her body clamping around him in rhythmic waves that seemed to pull his own climax endlessly from him.

He collapsed onto her, his weight crushing, his skin slick with sweat. They lay there, fused, breathing in ragged unison. The room was silent except for the sound of their lungs. Sunlight now fully illuminated the room, exposing every detail: the discarded phone on the carpet, her torn clothing, the undeniable, messy truth of them.

He finally softened and slipped out of her, rolling to the side. She felt empty, used, and profoundly transformed. A thick trickle of warmth leaked onto the sheets between her thighs.

Chris propped himself up on an elbow and looked at her, his gaze tracing the remnants of last night’s transgression, now mixed with the sweat of this morning’s. He reached out and brushed a strand of damp hair from her sticky cheek.

“So,” he said, his voice casual, as if commenting on the weather. “Breakfast?”

“Breakfast?” Violet repeated, the word sounding absurd. Her body ached in places that had never ached before, a deep, muscular soreness that was both an indictment and a souvenir. She stared at the pristine gray ceiling. “I should find Jenna.”

Chris just shrugged, a fluid motion of bare shoulders, and swung his legs out of bed. He padded, naked and utterly at ease, toward what she assumed was the bathroom. The water in the sink started running.

The sight of him, the casual ownership of his own space and the memory of what they’d just done, solidified her resolve. She needed to move. Now. She slid from the bed, her legs unsteady. A hot, uncomfortable trickle traced her inner thigh. She found her crumpled panties and stepped into them, wincing at the tender contact. Her jeans were a denim prison she had to coax herself into.

Every movement echoed the morning’s brutal, wonderful friction. She located her blouse, buttoned it with clumsy fingers over her torn bra, and finger-combed her tangled hair. She looked like exactly what she was. She felt hollowed out and impossibly heavy at the same time.

She didn’t wait for him. She limped out of the bedroom, the subtle, telling pull in her muscles a constant reminder. The living room was a cathedral of morning light, the polished concrete floor cold under her bare feet. Jenna was curled in an armchair by the windows, clutching a mug, already dressed. She looked small and pale.

“Hey,” Violet said, her voice raspy.

Jenna’s head snapped up. Her eyes, wide and anxious, did a quick scan of Violet—the messy hair, the rumpled clothes, the general aura of devastation. “Oh my god. You look… what happened?”

Violet lowered herself onto the arm of the sofa, a hiss escaping her at the contact. “I fucked up, Jen.”

“You slept with him.” It wasn’t a question. Jenna’s voice was flat. “I heard… noises. Late. And then this morning. I thought maybe I was imagining it.”

“You weren’t imagining it.” Violet dropped her face into her hands. The citrus-lavender scent of his sheets was still on her skin, mingled with sex. “I don’t know what’s wrong with me. I called Leo from his bed, Jen. I had his… I was on the phone with Leo while I had him in my mouth.”

Jenna set her mug down with a sharp clink. “Violet. No.”

“Yes.” The admission was a stone in her throat. “And then this morning… he just… I wanted it. I still feel it. I can literally still feel him. And I hate myself.”

“You have to tell Leo,” Jenna whispered, leaning forward. Her knuckles were white. “You have to break up with him. This isn’t a mistake, this is a… a nuclear bomb.”

Before Violet could form a response, a door clicked open down the hall. Derek emerged, followed by Chris. Both were showered, dressed in fresh, expensive-looking casual wear. Derek’s grin was a slash of triumph.

Chris’s eyes found Violet immediately. He gave her a slow, acknowledging nod that felt like a physical touch.

“Gentlemen,” Derek said, his voice booming in the quiet space. He raised his hand. Chris met it with a firm, audible high-five.

“Mission accomplished,” Derek said, chuckling. He clapped Chris on the shoulder. “Told you she’d come around. Liberals love to debate, but they fold in the end. They just need a firm hand.”

Chris didn’t say anything. He just watched Violet, a faint, unreadable smirk playing on his lips.

The words were crude, reductive, and aimed to degrade. A hot wave of humiliation and anger washed over Violet. She wanted to scream, to throw something, to tear into their smug, congratulatory faces with every politically charged argument she’d ever wielded.

But the fury died, smothered by a heavier truth. Her body throbbed in agreement with their crude assessment. She had folded. She had let him. She had begged for it. The guilt was hers to carry, not theirs to absolve. She looked away, her cheeks burning.

“We’re leaving,” she said to Jenna, her voice thick.

She stood up, the limp more pronounced now. She found her shoes by the door, her movements stiff and robotic. Jenna was already at her side, a silent, shocked sentinel.

As Violet reached for the door handle, Chris’s voice stopped her. “Hey.”

She turned. He was leaning against the kitchen island, arms crossed. He’d taken out his phone. “Number,” he said, not as a question, but a simple expectation.

Violet blinked. Jenna made a small, distressed noise beside her. The absolute audacity was a glacier down her spine.

He held her gaze, unwavering. The memory of his weight, his whispered whose is this?, flashed between them. This was part of the transaction, she understood. The final brick in her own ruination. She recited the digits, her voice a monotone. He tapped his screen, then looked up.

“Put me in your phone,” he said. A real smile, sharp and playful, broke through. “You can put me in as ‘Big Dick Chris’. You’ll remember.”

A sound burst from Violet’s throat—a shocked, ragged, genuine laugh. It was so profoundly awful, so perfectly emblematic of the entire degrading, exhilarating mess. It was the truth, packaged as a joke. She pulled out her own phone, her fingers flying.

She typed it in: Big Dick Chris.

She showed him the screen. His smile widened, satisfied. He gave her a slow, deliberate wink.

Then she turned and walked out, Jenna scrambling after her, into the sterile hallway where the only sound was the painful, rhythmic click of her own heels and the echo of that unforgivable, honest laugh.
