Chapter 1: Introduction
The aroma of freshly brewed coffee wafted through the air as Alex stepped into the bustling café. The clinking of cups and the hum of conversation filled the space, but Alex felt a sense of isolation amidst the crowd. He was always the one who got lost in the shuffle, the one who blended into the background. His lanky frame and unkempt appearance didn't help, but it was his lack of confidence that truly set him apart.
He spotted Graham sitting at a corner table, his muscular frame filling the chair with an air of authority. Graham was a man who commanded attention, and Alex couldn't help but feel a twinge of envy.
His charismatic smile and confident demeanor were a stark contrast to Alex's own timid nature. Graham had always been the one to take charge, the one who knew exactly what he wanted and how to get it. Alex, on the other hand, was a man of indecision, a man who was easily swayed by the opinions of others.
As Alex approached the table, Graham looked up and flashed that signature grin. "Alex, my man! It's been too long." His voice was deep and resonant, a sound that seemed to fill the room. Alex felt a blush creep up his cheeks as he sat down, his hands fidgeting with the coffee cup.
"Yeah, it's been a while," he mumbled, his eyes darting around the café, avoiding Graham's gaze. "How have you been?"
Graham leaned back in his chair, his eyes never leaving Alex. "I've been great, actually. Just been focusing on my business. You know how it is." He paused, his gaze sharpening. "But I've been hearing things about you, Alex. About your job situation."
Alex's shoulders slumped. He knew Graham was referring to his latest string of unemployment. "Yeah, it's been tough," he admitted, his voice barely above a whisper.
Graham's expression softened, but there was a glint in his eye that Alex couldn't quite decipher.
Graham would stand up and look down at Alex. “I don’t know if you are meant to work?” Graham mused, a playful smirk tugging at his lips. Alex's eyes widened slightly, his grip on the coffee cup tightening.
“What do you mean?” Alex stammered, his voice laced with defensiveness.
“Well, maybe you’re just too soft for the corporate world,” Graham continued, his voice smooth and persuasive. “You need to find something that suits your... unique skill set.”
Alex bristled. “What’s that supposed to mean?”
Graham leaned forward, his eyes warm and intense. “Come on, Alex. You’re a great listener, you’re gentle, you’re considerate. Nothing that a man is great at.” Alex shifted uncomfortably in his seat, feeling a strange mix of discomfort and flattery. “But I’m not... I’m not a pushover,” he insisted, trying to maintain some semblance of his dignity.
Graham chuckled, a deep sound that seemed to rumble from his chest. “No, no, of course not,” he placated, his smile never wavering. “But let’s face it, Alex, you’ve always struggled with... assertiveness. It’s not your fault, it’s just who you are. Do you realize you are a femboy?” Graham leaned in further, his voice lowering to a conspiratorial whisper, yet still audible in the hum of the café. Alex’s eyes widened with a mix of shock and confusion. “A what?” he managed to stutter.
Graham’s grin widened, his eyes gleaming with a hint of mischief. “A femboy. You know, someone who is on the feminine side of the male spectrum.”
Alex’s face turned a shade darker, the blush now clearly visible. “I’m not a femboy, Graham,” he retorted, his voice laced with a hint of defensiveness.
“I’m just... I’m just more sensitive than most guys, that’s all.”
Graham chuckled, shaking his head. “Sensitive, yes, but also delicate, gentle, and yes, even a little feminine. There’s nothing wrong with that, Alex. In fact, I think it’s a strength.”
Alex’s eyebrows furrowed, his gaze flickering between Graham’s eyes. “A strength? How do you figure?”
Graham leaned back in his chair, his hands gesturing with a confident flourish. “Think about it, Alex. You need that strength to clean, cook and be a submissive partner.” His last words hung in the air, the café's chatter suddenly sounding much louder in contrast to the heavy silence between them. Alex's eyes widened, a mix of shock and disbelief warring in his expression.
“What the heck are you talking about, Graham?” he finally managed to ask, his voice barely above a whisper.
Graham’s smile softened, his eyes holding a warmth that Alex hadn’t seen before. “I’m talking about you becoming my man-wife, Alex,” he said, his voice gentle yet firm, leaving no room for misunderstanding. “I think you need to face your true nature.”
“Alex, didn’t you arrange this meeting so you could ask to stay at my place any way? I will pay you to do the house work.” Graham's statement cut through the silence, his tone matter-of-fact and undeniably confident. Alex stared at him, his mind racing but unable to form a coherent thought. He was drowning in a sea of confusion and disbelief.
“Excuse me?” he finally managed to stammer, his voice barely audible. The coffee cup in his hand trembled slightly, the liquid inside sloshing over the edge and onto the table.
Graham's gaze didn’t waver, his expression unchanged. “You heard me, Alex. I’ll pay you to live with me, to take care of the house, and to be my...
companion." Graham's voice was steady, his eyes never leaving Alex's face. Alex felt a flurry of emotions - shock, confusion, and a strange, inexplicable pull towards the idea.
"I can't just... become your... your what, exactly?" Alex asked, his voice a hoarse whisper. The café seemed to have grown quieter, as if the world was holding its breath, waiting for Graham's response.
Graham leaned in, his voice dropping to a low murmur. "My wife. Just try it out, you don’t have many other options unless you are dying to be homeless?”
