Chapter 1: Opening Image
Dan pulled into the driveway of their two-story suburban home and the familiar edifice greeted him with comfort. It had been his home for the past seventeen years. He parked the car, turned off the ignition, and leaned back against the seat. A soft sigh escaped him as he dragged a hand through his short, dark hair. Today had been a tough one. Work, expenses, the charity event he had agreed to attend later tonight—they all weighed heavily on his shoulders. He didn't feel like dealing with any more people today.
He just wanted to come home and lose himself in the sanctuary of their bedroom, filled with soft pink walls and cream-colored furniture. The bed, with its rumpled sheets and overstuffed pillows, seemed to taunt him with its promise of escape.
Just as he reached for the door handle, his phone buzzed in his pocket. It was a text from Debbie, his wife of fifteen years, who knew him too well.
"Hey, babe—I'm making dinner tonight.
Finish up at work and come straight home. We'll need your energy later. Love you!"
Dan snorted, a fond smile tugging at the corners of his lips as he read the text. She knew how to draw him out of his shell and make him forget about the world. Just like she always had, ever since they first met in college. He slid the phone back into his pocket and stepped out of the car, ready to eat and then lose himself in their soft bed.
As soon as he opened the front door, he could smell the delicious aroma of her chicken parmesan.
Dan couldn't help but smile when he saw the candlelit dining table set for two, complete with a bottle of champagne chilling in an ice bucket. It was their anniversary, after all, and Debbie had always gone above and beyond to make special occasions memorable. The soft twinkling of the candlelight flickered across Debbie's face as she rose from the dining table to greet him with a welcoming hug.
"Hey there, Mr. Daniel! I'm so glad you're home.
I've been looking forward to this all day," she whispered, brushing a stray lock of hair behind her ear. Dan could see the excitement sparkling in her green eyes, which added a youthful charm to her face. He wrapped his arms around the petite woman's waist and pulled her closer, enjoying the moment of being close to her. After spending a long day at work, he truly appreciated how she always knew how to lift his spirits.
As Dan pulled away from their embrace, he took a moment to look at Debbie, really look at her. Her wavy, long brown hair cascaded over her shoulders. Her seductive smile and inviting eyes radiated a lively energy, making his expectations for their anniversary soar.
"I'm glad I'm home too," he said. "Anything special planned for tonight?" Dan couldn't help himself. He was genuinely curious about what his wife had in store for him.
Debbie's creativity and adventurous spirit had always brought a spark to their relationship, and he was eager to see what she had planned for this special occasion.
“Well, sweetie,” Debbie began. “I thought we could do something… different tonight.” She winked at him, smiling coyly.
Dan's heart rate quickened. He was always a little insecure about his sexual performance, but the way his wife looked at him right now filled him with confidence.
“Different?
