Chapter 4: The Interrogation Wash
The steam from the bath hung in the bathroom air, thick and cloying, carrying the synthetic scent of hotel soap. Jenny sat rigid in the lukewarm water, her skin prickling despite the heat. Her mother’s hands were on her again, a familiar, claiming weight.
“You’re all knotted up, sweetheart,” Rachel murmured, her voice a soft echo against the tiles. She knelt beside the tub, her sleeves rolled up past her elbows. The washcloth moved in slow, insistent circles over Jenny’s back. “All that walking yesterday. And that bed… God, it was like a sandwich, wasn’t it? You in the middle.”
Jenny’s jaw tightened. She stared at the opposite wall, at a hairline crack in the grout. “It was fine.”
“Oh, come on. Your father was sawing logs all night. And you, you little furnace.” Rachel’s chuckle was warm, intimate. Her hand, holding the cloth, drifted lower, down the dip of Jenny’s spine. “I could feel you twitching in your sleep. Bad dreams?”
“No.” The word was too sharp. Jenny softened it. “Just… new place.”
“Mmm.” Rachel’s touch dipped below the waterline, over the swell of Jenny’s rear. The cloth was rough, the pressure firm and maternal. “We’ll get a better night’s sleep tonight. We’re all just tired.”
Her hand moved around Jenny’s hip, a natural, casual arc. The cloth pressed against the flat plane of her lower belly. Jenny sucked in a quiet breath, her muscles coiling. She gripped the sides of the tub, her knuckles bleaching white against the porcelain.
“Just relax, Jenny. Let me help.” Rachel’s tone was the one she used for scraped knees and childhood fevers. It didn’t match the path of her hand. She nudged Jenny’s thighs apart with the back of her wrist, a gentle, unthinking command. “You need to get properly clean. It’s so muggy here.”
The cloth was there then, a rough, wet bundle against Jenny’s vulva. Jenny flinched, a full-body jerk that sloshed water over the rim.
“Shhh, honey. It’s just me.” Rachel’s other hand settled on Jenny’s knee, pinning her in place with comforting pressure. She began to wash, her movements methodical. The coarse fabric dragged over Jenny’s outer lips, back and forth. “See? Just getting the sweat off.”
But it wasn’t just the cloth. Rachel’s fingers were underneath it, guiding it, feeling the shape of her daughter through the terry weave. Jenny could feel every thread. She could feel the heat of her own body, so much hotter than the bathwater, pulsing under that relentless, sanitizing scrub.
Rachel hummed a tuneless snippet of a Disney song. Her fingers shifted, the cloth folding. A corner of it, by accident or design, slipped into the cleft. It pressed against Jenny’s clit, a blunt, shocking pressure.
Jenny gasped. Her head fell back against the cool tub edge.
“You’re so sensitive there,” Rachel observed quietly, her voice devoid of anything but casual curiosity. Her fingers worked the cloth, a slow, steady rhythm now, right over the swollen nub. “You always have been, ever since you were tiny. Bath time was a battle.”
The pressure built, a tight, awful coil deep in Jenny’s gut. It was the same coiled spring from the night before, in the dark, with Steve hard against her. It was the same slick, shameful heat. Her mother’s fingers, busy and efficient, rubbed the cloth over her, around her, a parody of care. The rough texture was suddenly unbearable, and yet it was the very thing tightening the spring. Jenny’s hips gave a tiny, involuntary lift, meeting the pressure.
“There you go,” Rachel soothed, misinterpreting the movement as relaxation. “Just let it go. Get all clean for Mom.”
She parted Jenny’s lips with her fingers then, peeling the flesh open with a terrible, clinical gentleness. The cloth was gone, discarded over the side of the tub with a wet slap on the linoleum. Rachel’s bare fingertips touched her directly.
Jenny choked on air.
Her mother’s touch was exploring, soft pads tracing the contours of her labia, slick from the water and from Jenny herself. “My goodness,” Rachel whispered, almost to herself. “You’re so… worked up down here. Is this from sharing the bed with Daddy last night? All that close contact?”
Jenny couldn’t speak. She could only watch the fluorescent light buzz and swim above her. Rachel’s middle finger slid along her slit, gathering wetness. It circled her entrance, not entering, just slicking itself again and again in a slow, maddening orbit that grazed her clit with every pass.
“It’s perfectly natural, honey,” Rachel continued, her voice a hypnotic murmur. Her finger pressed a little firmer, a little more focused, right on the throbbing center of Jenny’s need. “Your body gets confused. All that warmth. All that… friction.”
The word ‘friction’ hung in the steam. Rachel’s touch became purposeful, a soft, insistent rub directly on Jenny’s clit. It was the same rhythm as the night before—the unconscious rocking, the desperate search for relief. Jenny’s breath came in shallow hitches. She was rocketing towards it, that silent, crashing peak, propelled by her mother’s utterly benign and utterly devastating hand.
She came with a violence that locked her spine. It was a soundless, airless convulsion. Her back arched clear out of the water, her chest breaking the surface into the cooler air. Her thighs clamped shut, trapping Rachel’s hand, her pelvis jerking wildly against the now-still fingers.
Rachel held her through it, a steadying presence. “There, there,” she whispered, as Jenny shuddered, waves of brutal, guilty pleasure electrocuting her. “All better. All clean.”
As the last pulses faded, leaving Jenny boneless and drowning in self-loathing, Rachel gently extracted her hand. She reached for a fresh towel, her movements breezy and normal. “Feel better?” she asked, patting Jenny’s shoulder.
Jenny could only nod, her eyes stinging with unshed tears, her body humming with a traitorous, post-orgasmic thrum. Rachel stood, wiping her hands on her jeans, completely unaware of the earthquake she had just orchestrated.
“Good,” Rachel said, smiling down at her. “Now get dried off. Your father brought Danishes. We’ve got a big day at Epcot.” She turned and left the bathroom, leaving Jenny alone in the cooling, dirty water, staring at the crack in the grout, shattered.
