Chapter 1: Introduction
Emily nervously tapped her stiletto on the shiny black tiles of the bar's floor to the steady thump of the bass. It was the beating heart of this trendy, dimly lit bar, pulsating with a rhythm that snatched her up and carried her away between sips of her delicious Cosmopolitan. She glanced around at the crowd, shoulders swaying with the jazz music that looped in the background, hips gyrating to an uncontainable beat.
Emily had looked forward to this weekend for a while. Being a stay at home mom can get to be very monotonous and going to spend some quality time with her best friend Bree was just what the doctor ordered. The last few years had been an endless parade of kid's soccer games, parent-teacher meetings, and cooking endless amounts of bland pasta meals. However, tonight was different. Tonight Emily was letting go of her responsibilities and joining Bree in the city for their annual girls' night out.
As they stood in line to enter the bustling bar, Bree glanced over to Emily, her normally short and curly brown hair had been artfully straightened, her green eyes sparkling in the dim light, a sexy little dress accentuating her curves.
"Well aren't you looking purrr-fect, Em," said Bree, running her fingers through her hair in admiration. "You'd better be ready for the male attention that's gonna come your way tonight."
"Please, ain't happening." Emily scoffed but deep down knew she was right. She was wearing tight designer, jeans and high heels. A red tank top showed off her large breasts and she wore a leather jacket over it. Her auburn hair was shoulder length and her green eyes sparkled. Certainly not how she looks most of the time flopping around the house cleaning up after her family. While her husband Dan was a good provider and spouse, the fireworks of passion have dimmed a bit over the years. At 37 years old, Emily emotionally felt like she was in her prime years and not ready to relegate herself to occasional quickies in the morning before he left for work. But when weighing all the good in her life with the "wish was better" in the end, wall-vibrating sex and passion did not rate all that high. Still, maybe getting a look her or there and some harmless flirting may be all she needs.
Bree interrupted her thoughts as Emily felt her gently nudge her.
"Come on, Em. Don't be a wallflower. The night's only just starting!"
As they entered the dimly lit boite, the bouncer nodded and waved them in, giving Bree a once-over with a slow, lazy smile. Emily shook off her nerves and followed Bree towards the bar. The bar was packed, the alcohol flowing like water from the mouths of the revellers.
Bree scanned the room, her green eyes lustful and alert, looking out for possible conquests.
"Bree!" A raspy voice called out, pulling Emily's gaze away from her friend's intense scanning of the room. She turned to see a tall, dark-haired man approaching them, making his way through the sea of bodies like a ship cutting through the waves.
"Hey, Jake! What's up?" Bree tossed back casually.
"Oh just living my best life, baby. And who might you be?" he questioned turning to Emily suggestively.
Bree answered quickly, "This is my friend Emily. She's just in town for the weekend," she gestured to Emily with a dismissive wave of her hand.
"Actually, just the night." Emily responded.
She mustered a smile, eyeing Jake up and down, the tall, muscular stranger who said he was a bartender.
Before Jake could say anything else, a second man caught Emily's eye. He was shorter than Jake, but just as handsome, with sculpted facial features. His piercing hazel eyes navigated the crowded room, settling on Emily as if she was the only person in the room.
He had a boyish charm and his lean muscles glistened under the soft light as sweat trickled down the side of his unshaven jawline.
"And you must be?" Emily questioned, holding her head up to maintain eye contact, while secretly wishing she was back home with her hair in a messy bun and wearing the worn-out sweats she usually had on.
"Oh, I'm Ethan. Work with Jake over at The Sunset Club across town. First night off we have had in weeks and what better way to spend it than being at another nightclub" he said sarcastically.
Emily laughed at his comment. Jake invited them back to their table where he had bottle service going on. Before Emily could say anything, Bree was already making a line for it. "Shall we?" Ethan asked. Emily hesitated before accepting as they made their way to the booth.
She sat down next to Bree as Jake poured them all drinks, filling the glasses to the brim with fine-looking champagne. Ethan raised his glass, the muscles in his arms flexing under the dim light.
"To girls nights out," Ethan said, winking at Emily mischievously. She smiled back, clinking her glass against Ethan's before taking a long sip of the refreshing drink.
As the taste of the champagne danced on her tongue, Emily felt a pleasant buzz seeping into her. Both men were charming and funny. Though it seemed like Jake and Bree have "hung out" before. Emily enjoyed the attention and it made her feel like she was 15 years younger teasing men when she was in college.
As the night grew darker, the bar grew more raucous, her body swaying to the beat of the music. Emily felt a strange thrill as she watched Jake, his toned arms flexing as he poured shots for himself and Ethan, his eyes never straying from Bree. It was fun to be here with her best friend, letting loose after so many years of responsibility.
Jake then took Bree's hand and led her to the dance floor. Ethan and Emily watched as Bree had her hands around Jack's waist as she grinded into him along with the heavy base. It was an erotic sight - the way Bree moved her hips and the way Jake bit his bottom lip suggestively.
"When was the last time you danced?" Ethan asked her., waking Emily from her gaze.
She looked bashful for a brief moment before shaking her head, letting out a raspy giggle.
"It's been too long. I'm not sure how to move anymore," she admitted, sipping from the fresh drink Jake had poured her.
"Well, we can't have that now, can we?" Ethan winked seductively, taking her hand before standing up.
The two left the table, their bodies moving towards the dancefloor in sync. A soulful slow beat began to play just as they reached the throng of dancers.
Ethan slid his hand around the back of Emily's waist, pulling her close to him. Their bodies moved in perfect harmony, her auburn hair brushing against his tanned forearms. The warmth of his embrace solidified the exhilaration Emily felt in her core, the pulsating rhythm pulsing through her veins.
"See, you have not forgotten how to." Ethan said as he swayed her body along with his.
Although she was reluctant at first, she couldn't help but yield to the hypnotizing beat of the music and his strong grip. They were like one, becoming enthralled in each other's bodies as they moved rhythmically. The slow grind of their bodies, juxtaposed by the pounding beat of the drums, awakened a desire she thought she had long forgotten.
As his hands began to stray, she felt him gently graze her ass, pulling her closer to him. Emily stiffened, worrying this was going to far. Flirting and even dancing was one thing. But if anyone she knew could see her now, erotically dancing with a younger man at a club, well that would be hard to explain if it got back to her husband.
But as she backed her ass off of his hands, her thigh went right between Ethan's legs and crotch. And against an unmistakable large bulge behind his jeans.
"Oh my God." she thought to herself, "Is that..."
Before she had a chance to make eye contact with Ethan, they were interrupted by Bree.
"Hey guys, Jake and Ethan are going to take us back. Bar is about to close."
Emily looked at her watch and realized is was 1:45AM. Good God, where did the time go?
Emily took Bree aside away from the boys. "What do you mean, take us back?"
"Relax, Jake is parked around the corner and it is impossible to find a taxi now. Maybe they come in for a drink and then they will leave. Promise."
Emily was reluctant but went along. She was already getting nervous about this going farther than she wanted. But she trusted Bree and also had no alternative at the moment. The collected their things and met Ethan and Jake in the front of the club where they were whisked away to Bree's apartment across town. The men sat in front and Bree and Emily were in the back.
