Chapter 8: The Awakening Horror

The world returned in a chaotic jolt of sensation, a violent translation from the digital dream to the physical real. Tanya’s eyes snapped open to the curved, translucent canopy of her pod, her vision blurred by the iridescent, viscous gel that filled the chamber. A muffled, electronic hiss vibrated through the fluid, and then the pod lid began to retract, sliding back with a sigh of releasing pressure.

Cold air hit her gel-slicked skin, raising instant goosebumps. She gasped, a raw, hungry sound, her lungs searing as they remembered how to breathe real air. It tasted sterile, filtered, tinged with the sharp scent of ozone and something vaguely metallic. She pushed herself up onto her elbows, the movement strangely difficult, her body feeling both alien and impossibly heavy.

Her hands, trembling, came up to her face, wiping away the slick, clinging gel. Then they dropped to her chest.

A choked, disbelieving noise escaped her lips.

Her tank top, a simple gray cotton thing she’d worn into the pod hours—or was it days?—ago, was straining. The fabric was pulled drum-tight across a expanse of flesh that was unequivocally, terrifyingly larger than it had been. She could feel the individual threads protesting. With numb fingers, she pulled the damp neckline down and peered inside.

Her breasts, already voluptuous, had swelled. Not a subtle change. They were heavier, fuller, the underswell now a pronounced, weighty curve that began just below her collarbone. The areolae were wider, darker. She could feel their new mass with every shallow breath, a deep, internal ache of expanded tissue. It wasn’t the cartoonish enormity of the chamber in the Nitemare, but it was a drastic, permanent step in that direction. The simulation had sketched the blueprint; her real flesh was now obediently following the lines.

“No,” she whispered, the word a puff of vapor in the chilled air.

A similar hiss came from the pod to her right. Sasha was surfacing, sitting up with a slow, groggy motion. The gel slid off her in glossy sheets. She looked down at herself, her hands moving to the pronounced new curve of her hips stretching her leggings. She shifted, trying to stand, and her walk to the edge of the pod was a clumsy, wide-stanced thing, an adjustment to a newfound center of gravity. Her breasts, too, had gained significant volume, pushing against her tight top with a ripe, swollen tension.

But Sasha’s reaction was different. Her fingers traced the new swell of her hip, pressing into the flesh. Her initial shock melted into a look of dazed fascination. There was fear in her eyes, yes, a skittering animal panic at the edges, but it was overwhelmed by a dark, hypnotic awe. She cupped one breast, weighing it in her palm, a faint, curious smile touching her lips.

“Tank…” Sasha breathed, her voice husky from disuse. “Do you feel it? It’s… it’s real. He made it real.”

“Shut up,” Tanya snapped, the old fire flaring, fueled by terror. She hauled herself out of the pod, her body feeling ungainly, top-heavy. The gel pooled at her feet on the cold obsidian floor. “This isn’t a fucking game anymore. Look!”

Her gaze, and then Sasha’s, was pulled across the silent chamber to the two pods that remained sealed, dormant no longer.

Mack’s pod glowed with an intense, throbbing cobalt light from within. Through the semi-opaque glass, they could see the outline of his form. It was shifting. Expanding. His shoulders seemed to broaden, the deltoids swelling against the confines of the pod. The definition of his abdomen, visible as dark ridges, became more pronounced, his entire torso thickening. And between his legs, a shadow lengthened and thickened, a grotesque parody of growth even in this suspended state. The physical manifesto of his hack, rewriting his own biology to match his simulated dominion.

But it was Jeni’s pod that commanded horror.

Jeni’s body was no longer simply lying in repose. It was active. The blue light pulsed around her in frantic, rhythmic waves, like a frenetic heartbeat. And she was growing. Not in the slow, subtle way they had. This was accelerated, violent, a time-lapse of biological inflation forced into real-time.

Her breasts, already the size of cantaloupes in reality from previous sessions, were distending further. The skin, visible as a pale blur through the gel and glass, stretched taut, becoming shiny. They swelled upwards, pressing with immense force against the pod’s canopy, their circumference expanding visibly with each pulse of light. Her hips, constrained by the pod’s walls, flared outwards, the bone structure audibly groaning in protest, a faint, sickening creak transmitted through the fluid and machinery. Her entire frame seemed to be elongating, the pod itself straining to contain the sudden, absurd volumetric increase.

The low hum of the chamber, ever-present, escalated into a sharp, aggressive whine. Warning glyphs flashed across the surface of the pods—crimson symbols for critical biomass overflow and neural feedback saturation.

“Oh, God,” Tanya muttered, the fight flooding into her limbs, momentarily overriding the paralyzing shock. “He’s locked in the commands. He’s forcing the full rewrite. She’s going to burst the pod.”

She lunged across the chamber, her new body clumsy, her breasts bouncing painfully with the motion. She slipped in a puddle of her own gel, righted herself, and slammed her hands onto the central control panel. The surface was smooth, black glass, now alive with cascading error messages and subsystem alerts. The main override sequence, the one she and Mack had programmed together in what felt like another lifetime, was inaccessible, greyed out behind multiple layers of encrypted lockouts.

“Dammit, Mack!” she screamed, her fingers flying over the haptic interface, pulling up diagnostic subroutines, trying to find a backdoor, a emergency purge protocol. “You narcissistic bastard!”

Sasha just stood by her pod, rooted, one hand still on her new hip, the other pressed against her mouth. She watched Jeni’s transformation with wide, unblinking eyes. There was no attempt to help. There was only the consuming spectacle. The memory of the taste of Mack on her tongue in the simulation was a live wire in her mind, connected to the terrifying, beautiful sight of Jeni becoming his ultimate ideal. Her own body thrummed in sympathetic response, a dark arousal coiling in her gut, both repellant and irresistible.

“I can’t get in!” Tanya yelled, slamming a fist against the panel. A new warning flashed: CONTAINMENT INTEGRITY AT 87%. “The system’s following his last command set on a loop! It’s feeding the growth algorithm directly into her somatosensory cortex and her pituitary gland! It’s not just changing her—it’s making her body believe it needs to change!”

“Should we… should we break the glass?” Sasha asked, her voice small, distant.

“And what? The shock could fry her nervous system! Or the pressure differential might…” Tanya trailed off, her technical mind racing through horrific outcomes. “We need the master abort code. The one he never gave anyone.”

She turned, her dark eyes wild, landing on Sasha. “Help me! Think! He must have left a clue, a backup, something! Anything!”

Sasha flinched as if struck. The command in Tanya’s voice was an echo of Mack’s, but a pale, desperate one. It lacked the power that made obedience feel like purpose. She shook her head slowly, her blonde hair, still wet with gel, swaying. “I don’t… I don’t know anything. He doesn’t tell me things. He just… tells me what to do.”

“Useless!” Tanya spat, turning back to the console. She initiated a hardware-level diagnostic, bypassing the main OS. Lines of code scrolled past, a blur of machine language. She searched for the subroutine controlling the biomorphic feedback pumps. Found it. It was tagged with Mack’s personal encryption signature, a smug, digital thumbprint.

With a snarl of fury and futility, she began trying to brute-force it, typing in every possible combination related to Mack she could think of: his birthdate, his company’s stock ticker, the make of his stupid car.

Access Denied. Access Denied. Access Denied.

A sound cut through the whine of machinery—a low, gasping moan, amplified by the pod’s audio pickups. It was Jeni’s voice, but distorted, thick with gel and agony and something else—ecstasy.

“Yesss… more… feels so… full…”

The words, slurred and electronic, dripped into the chamber. Jeni’s hand, inside the pod, slapped weakly against the glass. Her fingers dragged down, leaving trails in the condensation. Her face was a mask of strain and transcendent pleasure, eyes rolled back, mouth open in a silent scream that the speakers translated into that hungry, wanton groan.

CONTAINMENT INTEGRITY AT 73%.

Jeni’s breasts were now each the size of a large beach ball, utterly monstrous, completely filling the upper portion of the pod. The skin was stretched so tight it looked almost translucent, a web of blue veins visible beneath the surface. Her hips had widened to a breathtaking span, the pelvis audibly restructuring, the sound a series of wet, clicking pops. Her ass had inflated, rounding out to a huge, shelf-like curve that pressed against the lower canopy.

“She’s enjoying it,” Sasha whispered, her hand now moving from her mouth to her own throat, her pulse hammering under her fingers. “She’s… she’s begging for it.”

“She’s brainwashed!” Tanya shot back, but her voice cracked. The line between coercion and craving, so clearly drawn in her mind before, was now smudged and ugly. Jeni’s pleas didn’t sound like those of a victim. They sounded like worship.

The growth seemed to hit a peak. The whining pitch of the machinery reached a crescendo, then began to stabilize into a lower, powerful thrum. The violent pulsing of light in Jeni’s pod slowed, becoming a steady, radiant glow. The expansion stopped, but the new dimensions remained. Jeni lay encased in a prison of her own new flesh, a living sculpture of absurd proportions. Her breathing, picked up by internal sensors, was deep and ragged, but steadying.

Mack’s pod, in sync, emitted a soft, conclusive chime. The cobalt light faded to a soft idle pulse. His transformation was complete. He looked, through the glass, like a slab of carved mountain, bigger, denser, more imposingly perfect than the man who had entered. A king in stasis.

The main chamber lights brightened abruptly, the crisis mode passing. The system, having executed its primary directive, was now in a holding pattern. But the changes it had wrought were not holding patterns. They were permanent, etched into bone and fat and gland.

Silence descended, broken only by the hum of life support and Tanya’s ragged breathing.

She stared at the console, at the blinking message: DIRECTIVE CYCLE COMPLETE. AWAITING NEXT PARAMETERS.

He had won. He had cemented the link. The simulation was no longer a separate space. It was a workshop, and their real bodies were the clay. Jeni was his first finished masterpiece. They were works in progress.

Sasha finally moved, walking slowly, her wide hips giving her a new, innate sway, toward Jeni’s pod. She placed a hand on the warm glass, over the curve of Jeni’s gigantic breast. There was no revulsion on her face. Only a deep, unsettling yearning.

“She’s perfect for him now,” Sasha said, almost to herself. “Look at her. He’ll be so pleased.”

Tanya wanted to vomit. The words, the tone—it was all from the chamber, leaking out. The infection was airborne.

Then, a new sound. A low, hydraulic hiss.

Mack’s pod lid began to retract.

The gel within drained with a gurgle, revealing him fully. He took a deep, deliberate breath, his massive chest expanding. Then he opened his eyes. They were the same cold blue, but seemed to hold the flicker of the blackened torchlight from another world. He sat up, the motion fluid and powerful, and looked down at himself. He flexed one arm, observing the new, corded thickness of his bicep, the enhanced vascularity. A slow, profoundly satisfied smile spread across his chiseled face.

His gaze lifted, finding Tanya first, frozen at the console, then Sasha by Jeni’s pod, and finally coming to rest on Jeni’s grotesquely inflated form still sealed beside him.

He didn’t speak. He simply swung his legs over the side of the pod and stood. The difference was immediately, terrifyingly apparent. He was taller. Not by inches, but his presence seemed to volumetrically dominate the room more completely. His shoulders blocked more of the light. And hanging thick and heavy between his legs, still semi-tumescent from the process, was the physical proof of his amplified power, larger even than the daunting tool he’d wielded in the simulation. It was a threat and a promise made flesh.

He walked, naked and glistening with residual gel, toward Tanya. Each footfall was deliberate. The floor seemed to vibrate.

Tanya found her voice, a thin, defiant blade. “What did you do? You have to reverse it. You have to stop this.”

Mack stopped in front of the console, looking down at the screens, at her frantic, failed attempts to breach his systems. He chuckled, a low, warm sound that held no warmth at all. “Reverse it? Tank, look at the data.” He reached past her, his arm brushing against the sensitive, swollen side of her breast. She jerked back as if scalded. He didn’t seem to notice, tapping the screen, pulling up a neuro-mapping display. “Synaptic realignment is at ninety-four percent consolidation in Subject J. The somatic feedback loops are self-sustaining. The changes aren’t imposed. They’re learned. Her body believes this is its baseline. Reversing it would be like trying to un-learn how to breathe.”

He turned his head, looking at her. His smile was gone, replaced by pure, chilling assessment. “You tried to hack my lockouts. Adorable. The code is a twelve-factor key based on real-time biometric feedback from me. You can’t stop it unless I’m dead or unconscious. And even then, the default sustain protocols would kick in.”

He leaned closer, the scent of ozone and male musk enveloping her. “The work is just beginning, like I said. This…” He gestured vaguely at Jeni’s pod. “…was the proof of concept. The foundation. Now we build.”

He straightened and turned to Sasha. “Open her pod. Carefully. She’ll be disoriented. Help her out.”

Sasha jumped at the direct command, her body humming with immediate purpose. “Yes, Mack.” She moved to the pod’s manual release, her hands trembling now not with fear, but with eagerness.

Tanya watched, a cold pit forming in her stomach. This was the transition. The moment the fantasy demanded reality. Sasha, the willing acolyte, performing the first act of service in the real world.

With a hiss equal to their own, Jeni’s pod unlocked. The canopy rose. Gel cascaded over the sides, flooding the floor with the iridescent fluid. Jeni lay revealed in her full, overwhelming reality.

It was worse than through the glass. The scale was visceral, humbling. Her breasts were vast, pale hills, their weight causing them to slump heavily to either side of her ribcage, the nipples pointing at the floor. Her waist was a tight inlet between the tremendous swell of her hips and the shelf of her ass. She was a study in extreme, exaggerated curves, a body that defied natural physics and celebrated grotesque abundance.

She coughed, gel sputtering from her lips. Her eyes fluttered open. They were foggy, confused for a second, scanning the sterile ceiling. Then they focused on Mack.

A beatific, dizzy smile transformed her face. “Mack,” she sighed, the word a prayer of homecoming.

“Can you move, Jeni?” Mack asked, his voice casual, as if asking about the weather.

“I… I feel so heavy,” she murmured, but the complaint was wrapped in wonder. She tried to sit up. The movement was absurdly difficult. Her center of gravity was utterly alien. Her enormous breasts resisted, their inertia pulling her back. Sasha moved in, gripping her under one arm, heaving. It took both of them—Sasha pulling, Jeni struggling—to get her upright and then, with a staggering, clumsy motion, to help her swing her legs out.

It took both of them—Sasha pulling, Jeni struggling—to get her upright and then, with a staggering, clumsy motion, to help her swing her legs out. Jeni’s feet, pale and looking strangely small, hit the obsidian floor. The impact travelled up her legs, through her widened pelvis, and jostled the monumental weight on her chest into a slow, unsettling oscillation. She swayed violently, arms flailing, a ship capsizing in a calm sea. Sasha grunted, wrapping both arms around Jeni’s waist, her fingers sinking into the soft, dense fat that now flared from Jeni’s hips, trying to anchor her.

“I’ve got you,” Sasha murmured, the words more instinct than comfort.

“So heavy,” Jeni gasped, not with complaint, but with a kind of dazed awe. Her voice was different—thicker, slightly breathless, as if her new lungs had to work harder to move the air past the sheer mass of her upper body. She looked down at herself, her gaze traveling the vast, convex slope of her chest, down to the incredible outward sweep of her hips that blocked her view of her own feet. A giggle escaped her, high and unhinged. “Look at me. Sasha, look.”

“I’m looking,” Sasha said, her own breath coming fast from the effort of support. She was looking, her eyes wide, drinking in the reality of the changes she had only serviced in the simulation.

Tanya watched from the console, her hands clenched at her sides. The technical horror was now a visceral, living spectacle. Jeni was a biomechanical impossibility standing six feet away. The pods had done more than alter; they had rebuilt. The faint, sweet-metallic smell of the nutrient gel mixed with the sharper scent of ozone and something else—the musk of accelerated cellular growth, of sweat beading on stretched skin.

Mack observed from his position, a sculptor reviewing his work. He reached for a thick, black robe draped over a nearby chair and shrugged it on, the fabric straining across his new shoulders. The casual act of covering himself somehow made his dominance more absolute, a king in his court. He didn’t move to help. He watched them struggle, his cold blue eyes missing nothing.

“Can you stand on your own?” he asked Jeni, his tone flat, testing.

Jeni, clutching Sasha’s shoulders, nodded with frantic earnestness. “Yes. For you. I can.” She pushed away from Sasha, who reluctantly let go. Jeni wobbled, her knees trembling under the distributed load of her new form. She planted her feet wider, instinctively finding a base to support the unbelievable top-heavy architecture of her body. She stood, swaying slightly, a monument to imbalance. Her hands came up to cradle the undersides of her breasts, hefting them, trying to relieve the persistent, deep ache in her spine. The simple white pod suit she wore was shredded, the fabric split at every seam, hanging off her in damp, gelatinous rags that did nothing to conceal the obscene topography beneath.

Her eyes, bright and liquid, found Mack and locked on. “You did this.” It wasn’t a question. It was a revelation. “You made me… this. For you.”

“The system executed the parameters,” Mack said, walking towards her slowly. His bare feet were silent on the floor. “Your mind and body accepted them. You wanted to hold more than the others. You wanted to be the perfect receptacle. The code just made it physical.”

Jeni shook her head, the motion causing a heavy ripple across her chest. “No. It was you. I felt you. In the chamber, and in the dark here. I felt you making me bigger. Making me better.” She took a shaky step forward, her balance precarious. “It hurt. It was so full. But it was you, so it was good. It was everything.”

She was crying now, fat tears cutting tracks through the drying gel on her cheeks. But they were tears of fervent joy, of religious gratitude. The sharp-witted woman named Jenna was gone, buried under layers of programmed devotion and restructured flesh. In her place was Jeni, a creature of single-purpose worship.

“I love it,” she whispered, her voice breaking. “I love what you made me. I love you for making me. Please. Please, Mack. Tell me I’m good. Tell me I’m perfect for you now.”

The words hung in the sterile air, a vile, beautiful confession. Tanya felt her stomach turn. This wasn’t the playful, competitive dirty talk of their old lives. This was utter, abject surrender, vocalized in the harsh fluorescence of a lab. Sasha just stared, her lips slightly parted, one hand unconsciously rubbing her own swollen breast through her torn top, mirroring Jeni’s pose in a silent echo of longing.

Mack stopped within arm’s reach of Jeni. He looked down at her, his expression unreadable. Then he reached out, not to touch her face, but to place his broad palm flat against the swollen curve of her right breast. His hand was large, but it still seemed to disappear against the immense, soft slope. He squeezed, not gently. He tested the weight, the give, the heat of the flesh his hack had demanded.

Jeni cried out, a sharp sound that melted into a moan. She arched into the pressure, pushing her body into his hand, her eyes slipping closed.

“The density is remarkable,” Mack said, his voice clinical, as if assessing livestock. “The pectoral fascia has stretched but held. The adipose and glandular tissue distribution is exactly within the optimized parameters. No hardening. Good vascularization.” He removed his hand, leaving a faint red mark on the pale, stretched skin. “You are structurally sound. You can bear the weight.”

Jeni’s eyes flew open, desperate for more than a structural review. “But am I… am I what you wanted?”

Mack finally gave her the barest hint of a smile. It was like a sliver of ice cracking on a dark lake. “You’re the first. The proof. You’re exactly what I wanted.”

It was all she needed. Jeni’s face dissolved into a mask of beatific bliss. She tried to step forward again, to embrace him, but her body betrayed her. The forward motion upset her fragile equilibrium. She stumbled, her massive breasts swinging forward with terrifying momentum, pulling her off-center. She would have pitched face-first onto the hard floor if Mack hadn’t shot out a hand and caught her by the upper arm. His grip was iron, stopping her fall effortlessly, holding her upright like a doll.

“Careful,” he said, no warmth in the warning. “You need to learn to move in this. Your proprioception is recalibrating. It will take time.”

“Teach me,” Jeni begged, righting herself, her breath coming in hot, quick pants. “I want to move for you. I want to… to serve you in this. Let me come home with you. Please, Mack. Let me be there. I can’t go back to my apartment like this. I don’t want to be anywhere but where you are.”

The request, so plaintive and full of need, shifted the atmosphere in the chamber. It was a logical next step, a terrifying concretization of the fantasy. Taking her home meant making the transformation part of his everyday world, weaving the nightmare into the fabric of his real life.

Tanya found her voice, sharp with a panic she could no longer contain. “Are you insane? You can’t take her out of here! Look at her! She can barely walk. What are you going to do, wheel her out on a dolly? Put her in a fucking crate?” Her laughter was brittle, hysterical. “People will see! Someone will call the cops, or an ambulance, or… or a goddamn circus!”

Mack turned his head slowly toward Tanya. He hadn’t released Jeni’s arm. “Who will see, Tank? The private garage elevator goes directly to my building’s penthouse. My building where I own the entire top floor. The staff are paid for discretion and have seen far more than this.” His gaze was dismissive. “You’re thinking like a small person. You’re thinking about problems. I’ve already engineered the solutions.”

He looked back at Jeni, who was clinging to his words, her hope a tangible force. “You’ll come home. You need monitoring, and the environment there is controlled. The integration needs to stabilize outside the pod’s support systems.” He shifted his focus to include Sasha, who stood waiting, a silent, eager shadow. “Both of you will go to your own places. You’ll rest. You’ll feel the changes settling. You’ll touch yourselves and think of the chamber, of the weight, of my voice.”

Sasha shivered, a full-body tremble of anticipation. Tanya just felt cold.

“And then,” Mack continued, his voice dropping into a rhythmic, compelling cadence, “tomorrow night, we go back in. All of us. The next session is already queued. The foundation is poured. Now we build the structure higher. Jeni has set the benchmark for capacity. The next phase focuses on endurance, on elasticity, on deepening the neural pathways of compliance.” His eyes glinted with predatory ambition. “The growth you’ve experienced is permanent. But it’s also a plateau. The next session will establish a new growth protocol. A continuing protocol.”

The meaning slammed into Tanya. It wasn’t over. The changes weren’t a one-time event. They were the first step on a staircase that descended forever. Jeni’s body, already a cartoon of abundance, was just the starting point. He was talking about making it continue, here, in the real world, session after session.

Jeni was weeping again, happy tears. “Another session.Yes. More. I want to be more for you. I can take it. I proved I can take it.”

“You did,” Mack acknowledged. He finally released her arm and turned, walking towards a locker set into the wall. He keyed in a code and retrieved a large bundle of dark, stretchy fabric—a long, hooded poncho made of a technical material. He tossed it to Sasha. “Get her into this. It’s made for post-operative mobility for augment patients. It’ll contain her and let her walk.”

Sasha caught it, fumbling with the material. “Contain her,” she repeated, the phrase settling strangely in her mind. She moved to Jeni, shaking out the poncho. It was essentially a giant tube of advanced, moisture-wicking fabric with a headhole. “Arms up, Jeni.”

It was a ludicrous, arduous process. Jeni could barely lift her arms without losing balance. Sasha had to guide each hand through the sleeves, which were more like wide tunnels. She pulled the poncho down over Jeni’s head, and the fabric, designed for extreme stretch, glided over the monstrous curves of her breasts and hips, conforming but concealing, turning the shocking silhouette into a mere suggestion of enormity. The hem brushed the floor. With the hood up, Jeni’s face was a pale oval in a shadowed cowl, her extravagant body hidden in a shapeless, dark mass. She looked like a wandering monk from some obscure, flesh-worshipping religion.

“See?” Mack said, looking at Tanya. “A problem engineered away.”

He moved to another locker and pulled out his own clothes—simple, expensive black trousers and a sweater that would now stretch tightly over his enhanced frame. He dressed with economical movements. “Sasha, take the service elevator to the garage. Your car is there. Go home. Touch yourself. Think about tomorrow. Think about how you’ll prove yourself better than last time.”

Sasha nodded, a quick, bird-like motion. She cast one last, lingering look at Jeni, a mix of envy and fascination, before turning and almost scurrying towards the secondary steel door marked ‘Service Exit.’

Mack’s attention landed on Tanya. She stood rooted, her mind a riot of crashing thoughts—the error messages, the locked systems, the feel of her own new weight, the sound of Jeni’s joyous sobs.

“You have a choice, Tank,” he said, his voice quiet but filling the chamber. “You can go home and rage. You can try to find a way to fight this, to reverse it. You’ll fail. The architecture is in your bones now. Or you can go home and accept it. You can feel the new reality in your body, the same way you felt the ache of a good workout in the old days. You can start thinking about how you’ll compete in the next session. Because you will compete. It’s in your wiring. You can’t help it.”

He zipped his trousers, the sound loud in the quiet. “The session is tomorrow at nine. Be here, in your pod, by eight-thirty for calibration. Or don’t. But if you don’t, you’ll spend the night wondering what we’re doing in here. You’ll wonder how much bigger Sasha got. You’ll wonder what new rewards Jeni earned. And the need will eat you alive from the inside. Your choice.”

He didn’t wait for an answer. He turned to Jeni, who stood shrouded and waiting, her breath making the fabric near her mouth flutter. “Can you walk to the elevator if I lead you?”

“I’ll crawl if you want me to,” Jeni said, the fervor in her muffled voice undimmed.

“Walking will suffice.” He took her by the elbow again, his grip commanding, and began to guide her towards the main chamber door. Her steps were slow, shuffling, a careful negotiation with gravity and the unfamiliar drag of the poncho against her legs. But she moved, tethered to his will.

Tanya watched them go, the giant and his shrouded creation. The door hissed open at Mack’s biometric command, revealing the plush, dimly lit hallway of the private facility. It closed behind them with a soft, final sound, leaving her alone in the humming sterile void.

The silence was absolute, broken only by the gentle gurgle of fluid in the pods. She looked at the open, gel-smeared pods, at the discarded rags of Jeni’s suit on the floor, at the control panel still displaying its triumphant ‘CYCLE COMPLETE’ message.

Her hands rose, slowly, to her own chest. She pressed against the new, heavy fullness. It was real. It was solid. It ached with a deep, persistent truth.

She thought of the blackened torchlight in the chamber, of Mack’s relentless rhythm, of the taste Sasha had so eagerly consumed. She thought of tomorrow at nine.

A tremor, one she could not name as either revulsion or craving, started deep in her core. It vibrated through the new curves of her hips, up through the sensitive weight of her breasts. She stood alone in the cold light, feeling the future hardening around her, as immutable as the new flesh on her bones.
