Chapter 1: Introduction
I waited for Erik to finish pouring the coffee.
“So, there’s something I want to tell you,” I started, sounding unsure. He raised his eyes from the mug he was vigorously scrubbing, giving me his full attention.
The kitchen was achingly dull, soundless except for the occasional purr of the electric kettle. Soft light bathed the counters completely, leaving no shadows behind to hide in. I averted my gaze from the clutter of pots to his warm brown eyes.
“Okay.
Shoot,” Erik said as he placed the mug down, drying his hands on a towel. His voice was steady, but slight furrows had formed across his forehead.
I took a deep breath and shared, “Well, you know how Tyrone is always making inappropriate comments at work, right?”
Erik nodded, then hesitantly added, “Yeah. He makes me uncomfortable sometimes, but I trust you can handle it.”
“Right.
I’ve always thought he was just being annoying and unprofessional,” I said nonchalantly, swirling the coffee in my mug. Erik leaned against the counter, quietly listening. I continued, “So, there was this one day; it was just one of those slow afternoons at the office, and Tyrone caught me off guard. You know how it goes with a boring day at work.
Your mind tends to find ways to keep itself entertained. I'd been checking email when my coworker Tyrone dropped by my office, breaking my concentration.
"Why so serious?" He leaned against my door frame, flashing a disarming smile. Before I could respond, his WHAT do you say we make a little wager?"
My radar immediately went up, and I wondered where he was going with this. "Depends. What's the bet?"
With a sly grin, Tyrone crossed his arms and leaned back, challenging, "How about this? I'll fuck you in front of your husband. If I cum first, I'll send the two of you on an all-expenses-paid vacation to Jamaica. If you cum first, I get to take you to Jamaica, and do whatever I want to you."
I tried to hide my surprise but couldn't help giving a little gasp. "
Tyrone!" I managed to say, raising an eyebrow, "You really want to make that kind of bet with me? And with my husband no less?"
Laughing, Tyrone responded, "Oh, come on! You know you want to give it a shot. And I know your hubby would go for it. I just have a feeling you two like playing these kinds of games."
I couldn't believe what I was hearing.
The idea was so absurd—yet, it piqued my curiosity. "Well," I began, heels digging into the plush office carpet, "I'll think about it, but I highly doubt Erik would be up for something like that."
Tyrone, undeterred, smirked and replied, "Oh, don't worry about him. I'll make it worth his while as well. Besides, it's just a bit of fun, yeah?
Everyone gets something out of it," he added, waggling his eyebrows at me.
As absurd as the idea was, I couldn't keep myself from being intrigued. Tyrone had always struck me as a shameless flirt, but I never thought he'd take it this far. The question rolling around my mind, though, was whether Erik would be game for a little extracurricular fun.
Erik's face paled when I told him about the bet. "He what?" he spluttered.
I couldn't help but chuckle a bit at his comically surprised expression.
"Yeah, I know," I admitted. "When I heard Tyrone out, I honestly couldn't believe what I was hearing. I had no idea he had this kinky side to him."
Erik's lips tightened as he collected himself, "I appreciate Tyrone's confidence in me, Emma, but I don't think this is something we'd be comfortable doing together.
It sounds dangerous and risky - not to mention inappropriate."
His reactions were somewhat predictable, but I wasn't quite ready to let this idea go just yet. The thrill of pushing boundaries was intoxicating.
"Hear me out, Erik," I coaxed. "We've always been open with each other and adventurous. There's a certain freedom to doing something spontaneous in a controlled environment like this.
This wager, this bet, felt daring and enticing. I knew deep down Erik and I had nothing to lose, so why not explore this new, sensual territory together?
Taking a measured sip of the now tepid coffee, I offered, "Let's turn him down, Erik. But first, I want you to consider this; we're open-minded and sexually adventurous. What would happen if we were to take him up on this offer?
The thought threatened to knock the wind out of me as I awaited Erik's reaction. I had planted a seed of curiosity, one that I wasn't entirely sure I wanted to grow. The tension soared as Erik hesitated, deliberating the consequences of such a decision. The kettle, seemingly sensing the awkwardness, slowly quieted.
A nervous smile tugged at the corners of my lips as I bravely held his gaze. The anticipation in the room crackled with an electric current only a fool would ignore.
Erik's eyes darted about the kitchen, seemingly avoiding mine; I wondered if he dwelt on the consequences of accepting such a wager. His cautious demeanor stood in sharp contrast to the adventurous, sexually confident woman he'd married. I imagined him mulling over the thought, wondering how we had arrived at this controversial junction. The silence stretched between us, punctuated only by the occasional pop from the stove as it cooled from use.
I held my breath, unwilling to break the charged atmosphere. The tension was palpable as I gambled on Erik's response.
Finally, his eyes met mine, and I saw the uncertainty slowly melt away, replaced with the familiar spark of curiosity. "You drive a hard bargain, Emma," Erik murmured, a slow half-smile playing on his lips.
I exhaled the breath I didn't realize I was holding. The anxiety dissolved into a bubbly elation that coursed through my veins.
Erik's agreement ignited a spark in me I hadn't felt in a while. I moved closer, placed my hand on his, and whispered, "Only if we're both comfortable, alright? This is about winning the bet, nothing else."
The decision was made.
Erik and I entered this uncharted territory with our eyes wide open, fully aware of the implications of our actions.
