Chapter 2: Undressing in the Mirror

The silence after my answer stretched, thin and brittle. Mark’s gaze was a tangible pressure on my skin, a spotlight I couldn’t escape.

“Video games?” I finally parroted, my voice too high. I cleared my throat, a delicate, feminine sound. “I mean, yeah. Sometimes.”

“Sometimes,” Mark repeated, a slow smile spreading. He took a long pull from his beer, his eyes crinkling. “Modest. Justin said you basically live on that rig in the guest house. Said you’ve beaten stuff he can’t even get past the tutorial on.”

From the other lounger, Sabrina-in-my-body shifted, the plastic webbing creaking. “I might have exaggerated,” she said, the words gruff. A poor imitation of my usual cadence.

“I doubt it,” Mark said, but he was still looking at me. The attention was a furnace. I was used to being overlooked, to the comfortable invisibility of a bearded, quiet man. This was its violent opposite. Every twitch of my finger, every slight intake of breath, felt witnessed, analyzed.

I needed out. Now.

“I’m just going to… change. For the pool,” I stammered, setting the water glass down with a clatter that sounded too loud. I stood up.

The world recalibrated. The simple act of rising was a kinetic event. My center of gravity was different, lower, centered in my hips instead of my chest. As I pushed up, my breasts swayed heavily, a delayed pendulous movement that pulled against the tight red bra. The denim skirt, already short, felt infinitesimal as the muscles in my new thighs and behind flexed. A soft, full bounce echoed through me, from the front and the back simultaneously. I teetered for a heart-stopping second on the small sandals, my size-five feet feeling insubstantial as cocktail napkins.

“Need a hand?” Mark asked, half-rising from his chair.

“No!” The word shot out, a panicked dart. “I’m fine. Thanks.”

I turned, acutely aware of how the motion made the long blonde hair swish across my bare shoulders and back, a whisper-tickle that was somehow both intimate and alien. I could feel both of their eyes on me as I walked—no, minced—toward the stone path that led to the guest house. Each click of the sandal on the flagstone sent a tiny shock up my shorter legs. My hips seemed to have a natural, undulating sway that I could not suppress; it was built into the architecture of this body, a side-to-side roll that made the short skirt’s hem brush against the tops of my thighs. With every step, the soft, fleshy halves of my behind pressed together and parted, a relentless, rhythmic awareness. The thong strap was a floss-like presence, a specific, demanding focal point in a landscape of foreign sensation.

The twenty feet to the guest house door felt like a mile.

I fumbled with the handle, my manicured nails—a glossy, shell-like pink—scraping against the brass. I slipped inside, slammed the door, and twisted the lock. The click was a prison door sealing.

I leaned against the cool wood, breathing hard. My breaths were shallow, rapid things. My chest rose and fell, the heavy weight of my breasts moving with each gasp, straining against the tank top. The lavender-scented air of the guest house closed in, thick with the ghost of her perfume, her shampoo, her life.

I had to see. I had to know.

Pushing off the door, I walked into the small, pastel-tiled bathroom. The peach colors were soft, feminine, assaultive. The gold-framed vanity mirror awaited.

I didn’t turn on the overhead light. The fading dusk through the frosted window was enough. I stood before the full-length mirror on the back of the door.

A stranger stared back.

Long, flowing blonde hair, a shade brighter than my own had been, framed a face of shocking, delicate beauty. Large, wide-set blue eyes, currently blown with panic. A small, straight nose. Lips that were full, naturally pink, and parted in a silent gasp. The cropped tank top ended just below the dramatic swell of my chest, leaving a pale, flat expanse of stomach that looked impossibly narrow. The skirt hugged the pronounced flare of my hips before ending in a frayed hem high on my thighs.

I was a doll. A living, breathing, terrified doll.

My hands, trembling violently, rose. They looked child-sized in the reflection. I grabbed the hem of the black tank top and pulled it up, over my head. The movement made my arms feel weak, the resistance of the fabric slight but noticeable to these slimmer muscles. My hair caught, then tumbled free in a silken cascade.

The red push-up bra was an engineering marvel of lace and wire. My cleavage was deep, dramatic, pushed together and up into two pale, perfect mounds. I could see the frantic pulse in my throat above them.

I reached behind, my fingers clumsy. The clasp was small, intricate. I fumbled, my nails clicking. A sob of frustration hitched in my new throat. Finally, I found the mechanism, pinched, and released.

The bra fell away.

The sensation was immediate and profound. A release of pressure, and then a gravitational settling. They didn’t sag; they dropped slightly, finding their natural, full weight. They were heavy. Palpably, undeniably heavy. My eyes tracked downward.

They were perfect, round, with pale skin and small, pink nipples that puckered instantly in the cool air. I watched, hypnotized by the horror of it, as my own breath made them rise and fall. A faint, blue vein traced a delicate path under the translucent skin of one.

My hands, moving as if belonging to someone else, came up and cupped them.

The warmth was a shock. The softness, giving under my palms, yet firm beneath. The weight was solid, real. My thumbs brushed over the nipples. A sharp, electric sensation jolted from there directly to my core, a deep, internal flinch that had no parallel in my old body. I snatched my hands away as if burned.

This was violation. This was insanity.

My gaze dropped lower, to the skirt. My fingers went to the button, the zip. I peeled the denim down over the new, subtle curve of my hips. It caught on the widest point, then slid down my thighs to puddle around my ankles on the tile. I stepped out, one precarious sandal at a time.

Now, only the red thong remained.

I could see its narrow line, cutting between the cheeks of my behind in the mirror, vanishing into the cleft. In front, it was a tiny, triangular scrap of lace against the neat, blonde thatch of pubic hair. My stomach was a flat, tight plane below my navel, leading down to the foreign territory now barely concealed.

I hooked my thumbs into the lace at my hips. My heart was a trapped bird. I closed my eyes for a second, then pushed the fabric down.

Cool air touched new skin. I opened my eyes.

There was no phallus. No familiar weight, no hanging presence. Instead, a smooth, hairless mound, a neat vertical slit nestled within the blonde curls. The architecture was all inward, hidden, a mystery and a vulnerability that made my legs want to fold. I was exposed in a way that felt fundamentally unsafe. The metallic scent in the air, coppery and clean, seemed to emanate from this new center of my being.

A knock at the bathroom door nearly made me scream.

“Sabrina?” It was Mark’s voice, muffled but too close, just on the other side of the wood. “You okay in there? You’ve been a while.”

“Fine!” I chirped, the sound strangled. “Just… looking for my suit!”

“No rush,” he said, but I could hear the smile in his voice. “Just wanted to make sure you didn’t fall in.”

His footsteps receded.

I was shaking all over, a fine, constant tremor. I couldn’t stand here naked. The bikini hung from a hook on the back of the door—tiny triangles of turquoise fabric connected by strings. It looked more like jewelry than clothing.

Gritting my teeth, I reached for it. The top was a laughable scrap. I had to lean forward, letting my breasts hang free, to try and clasp it behind my back. The action made them swing, a dizzying sensation. The fabric covered maybe half of each. The tie-around bottoms were no better. I stepped into them, pulling the strings tight around hips that seemed designed to defy containment.

I looked in the mirror again.

The young woman looking back was a knockout. A blonde, blue-eyed fantasy in a barely-there bikini, every devastating curve highlighted, amplified. She was also me. The disconnect was a nauseating whirlpool.

A louder knock, this time on the main guest house door. “Hey, you coming or what?” Mark called. “Water’s perfect.”

“Coming!” Sabrina’s voice, from my mouth, answered.

I had no choice. I was trapped in this exquisite, horrifying shell. I took one last, shuddering breath, seeing the stranger’s chest rise and fall. Then I turned, my new body moving with a fluid grace I didn't command, and walked out to meet them.
