Chapter 1: Introduction
The city lights twinkled like diamonds scattered across a black velvet canvas as Maya and Riley stepped out of the elevator and into their penthouse. The soft hum of the metropolis below was a soothing melody that accompanied them as they crossed the plush carpet to the floor-to-ceiling windows. The view of the city was a reward they never tired of, a constant reminder of the success they had achieved together.
"Long day!" Maya stated, her voice a low, sultry tone that sent shivers down Riley's spine. She turned to face her wife, a small smile playing on her lips.
Her short blond hair was styled in its usual perfect waves, framing her confident, assertive demeanor. She wore a tailored suit that hugged her curves just right, accentuating her petite frame. Reaching out, she took the flute of champagne from Riley's hand and set it down on the nearby table.
"Longer than usual," Riley replied, her voice soft and languid. She was tall and elegant, her black hair cascading down her back in loose curls. Her eyes, a deep brown, reflected the city lights, sparkling with an unspoken promise.
Riley's lips curved into a smile, her gaze softening as she looked at Maya. She knew that look, that playful glint in her eyes. It meant they were in for a fun evening.
"Why don't you go change into something more... comfortable?" Maya suggested, her voice laced with a hint of command. Riley raised an eyebrow, a playful challenge in her eyes.
"And what makes you think I'm not already in something comfortable?" she retorted, her voice light and teasing. She took a step closer, her hand reaching out to trace the lapel of Maya's suit jacket.
"Or maybe you'd like to help me out of this?" she whispered, her breath tickling Maya's ear.
Maya's smile widened, her eyes gleaming with amusement and desire. She caught Riley's hand, intertwining their fingers, and led her towards the poker table at the center of the room.
"I have something better in mind," she said, pulling out a deck of cards and a small velvet pouch from one of the drawers. She poured a handful of black and silver chips onto the table, their surfaces glinting under the dim lights.
Riley's eyebrows shot up in surprise.
"Strip blackjack?" she asked, a grin spreading across her face. "Now that's something new."
Maya shrugged, a playful smirk tugging at her lips. "We've done everything else. Might as well give this a try." She gestured to the table. "You in?"
Riley's smile didn't fade. She nodded eagerly. "Deal me in," she said, taking a seat at the table. She watched as Maya shuffled the deck, her eyes never leaving her wife's face.
Maya dealt two cards to each of them, one face down and the other face up.
