Chapter 2: The Claim
The air hung thick with whiskey and jasmine, heavy with the unsaid. Vishal’s grip on my wrist was a vice, his other hand pinning me against the bar’s cold edge. His eyes, dark and dilated, raked over me – the open blouse, the exposed lace, the intricate henna fading into the waistband of my petticoat. Fear coiled low in my belly, cold and slick, but beneath it, a dark, traitorous current of something else pulsed. Excitement? Power? Or just the terrifying thrill of the gamble paying off?
“So,” he breathed, the word scraping against the silence. His thumb traced a rough circle on the bare skin of my inner arm, just below the henna. “Ruthless.” A humorless twist touched his lips. “And what does ‘ruthless’ do to earn it?” He leaned closer, his breath hot on my cheek. “Slowly. Convince me this isn’t just… panic.”
He wanted seduction. A salve for his conscience. Proof this wasn’t just him taking advantage of a desperate woman. He needed to believe he was the seduced, not the predator. Fine. I could play that game. For the job. For survival.
I stopped fighting his grip. Let my body relax infinitesimally against the marble. Forced my eyes to soften, my breath to slow. "Panic?" My voice was a husky whisper now, deliberate. Playful, almost. "No, Mr. Vishal. This is… clarity." I tilted my head back slightly, offering the curve of my throat. "You asked me to deserve it. Let me show you how thorough I can be. How dedicated." My free hand, the one not caught in his grip, lifted slowly. Not to push him away. To touch him.
My fingertips brushed the crisp linen of his shirt, just over his pounding heart. I felt the strong thud beneath the fabric. "You need reassurance," I murmured, my gaze locked on his. "That this isn't a mistake. That she…" I let the implication hang, the unspoken wife, "…would understand the pressure. The… unique value proposition." My fingers traced the line of a button on his shirt. "Let me alleviate your doubts. Slowly." I applied the faintest pressure, my nail catching on the button. "May I?"
He didn't answer. Didn't move. His breathing hitched again. His grip on my wrist tightened almost painfully for a second, then loosened fractionally. Permission. Or surrender.
My fingers worked the first button. Slow. Deliberate. The pop of the thread through the hole sounded loud. I kept my eyes on his, watching the conflict war in his dark gaze – guilt warring with consuming desire. The shirt parted, revealing a sliver of tanned chest, dark hair. My knuckles brushed his skin. Hot. Smooth.
"See?" I whispered, my voice lower, intimate. "This isn't just about me needing the job." My hand slid lower, finding the next button. Undoing it. Another inch of chest, more dark hair. My fingertips grazed the hard plane of his pectoral muscle. "It's about… appreciation." Another button. My hand drifted across the exposed skin, feeling the heat, the tension coiled beneath. "Appreciation for the opportunity. For the leverage you offer." I emphasized the word he’d used earlier, twisting it, making it sound like a gift.
His free hand, the one not holding my wrist, moved from the small of my back. Not to stop me. To grip my hip, fingers digging into the silk of the petticoat. Anchoring me. Possessing. His eyes were glued to my face, then flickered down to my working hands, then back. The struggle was fading, replaced by a smoldering intensity.
The fourth button freed the shirt almost to his navel. My hand slid inside, palm flat against the hard, hot skin of his abdomen. I felt the muscles tense beneath my touch. He sucked in a sharp breath. My thumb traced the line of muscle leading down, hidden beneath his belt. "I know what pressure feels like," I breathed, leaning in closer, my lips almost brushing his ear. "The pressure of expectations. Of… loneliness." I let the ache seep into my voice. "Rajat… he's lost. Drowning. He doesn't see me. Doesn't touch me." It wasn't entirely a lie. The neglect was real. The untouched bridal bed was real. "But you see me, Mr. Vishal. You see the value." My hand slid lower, dipping just below the waistband of his trousers, fingertips brushing the coarse hair beneath. "Let me show you how valuable I can be."
His control snapped. A low growl tore from his throat. The hand on my hip wrenched me brutally against him. The hand on my wrist released suddenly, only to fist in my hair, yanking my head back. Pain flared, sharp and bright. His other hand shoved the remnants of my open blouse roughly off my shoulders. The silk tore at the seams with a sickening rip. Cool air washed over my bare chest, the delicate lace bra my only covering now. The heavy gold bridal necklace felt absurdly heavy, jarring against the sudden exposure.
"No more talking," he snarled, his voice thick and guttural, stripped of all pretense. His eyes were pure hunger now, fixed on the swell of my breasts above the lace. His mouth crashed down onto mine, not kissing, but devouring. Hard, demanding, tasting of Scotch and something primal. It wasn't tender. It was claiming. Possessive. Brutal.
His hand, freed from my wrist, ripped at the clasp of my bra. It gave way easily. He tore it off, flinging it aside. His rough hands closed over my bare breasts, kneading, squeezing with a force that bordered on pain. A choked gasp escaped me, muffled against his mouth. He broke the kiss, his lips trailing down my jaw, my throat, leaving wet, possessive marks. He bit down sharply on the curve of my shoulder where the henna swirled. A small cry tore from my lips – pain mixed with a shocking, unwelcome surge of dark arousal that pooled low in my belly.
His hands were everywhere now. One fisted in my hair, holding me bent backwards over the bar. The other roamed down my ribs, my stomach, fingers digging into the soft flesh above my petticoat. He found the tie at my waist. A sharp tug. The petticoat loosened. He shoved the fabric down over my hips. It pooled around my ankles with my pallu, leaving me clad only in delicate bridal underwear. The intricate mehndi patterns, symbols of auspicious beginnings, covered my legs, my stomach, stark against my exposed skin in the dim light.
He stepped back, just for a second, breathing raggedly, his shirt hanging open, his eyes burning as they raked over my near-naked body. The look was pure, unadulterated lust, but laced with a ferocious triumph. He’d broken me down. Unmade the bride. Claimed what he wanted.
"You want the job?" he rasped, his voice raw. He reached for the buckle of his belt, the sound harsh in the heavy silence. "Get on your knees and earn it properly."
The words hung in the air like smoke, harsh and final. "Get on your knees and earn it properly." The cold marble bit into the soles of my bare feet, a stark contrast to the heat radiating off him. His belt buckle gleamed dully in the low light, a metallic promise of humiliation.
My saari, the heavy silk symbol of my new wife status, was still miraculously intact, pooled around my ankles like a fallen petal. I moved slowly, deliberately, my hands trembling only slightly as I gathered the slippery fabric. With a soft rustle, I lifted it up and over my head, letting it fall forgotten onto the pile with the torn blouse and petticoat. The cool penthouse air hit my exposed midriff, making me shiver. Only the delicate lace bra and bridal underwear remained, the heavy gold necklace cold against my suddenly bare skin, the intricate mehndi on my arms and stomach stark against the paleness.
His breath hitched as he took in the sight. I didn’t wait for another command. Sinking down gracefully, my knees found the hard floor. The city lights sprawled below, indifferent witnesses. I leaned forward, my lips brushing the fine wool of his trousers where the hard ridge strained against the fabric. He sucked in a sharp breath. His hips jerked forward involuntarily, pressing against my mouth. I kept my kisses soft, teasing, tracing the outline through the material. He tasted of expensive fabric and salt.
"God," he groaned, his voice thick. One hand tangled roughly in my hair, not pulling, just holding. Anchoring.
I reached up, finding one of his hands near his thigh. My fingers, cool against his heated skin, guided his palm firmly towards my chest, pressing it against the lace covering my breast. He needed no further prompting. His fingers closed, kneading roughly through the fragile lace. A low growl rumbled in his chest. "Fuck. Like silk wrapped around... goddamn."
He loved the feel, the weight, the forbidden softness still shielded by the bra. His thumb found the peak through the lace, rubbing insistently, sending unwanted sparks down my spine. The gold necklace pressed painfully into my collarbone as his hand moved. His breathing grew ragged, shallow. I let him explore for a moment, let him think he was taking what he wanted.
Then, I moved. Pushing myself up from my knees, using his grip on my hair for leverage. I rose fluidly, right into his space. His hungry eyes locked onto my breasts, still confined by the lace. He didn't hesitate. His mouth crashed down onto the swell of my left breast, above the bra cup. His lips were hot, wet, demanding. He sucked hard, his teeth grazing the sensitive skin. A gasp escaped me – part shock, part something darker I refused to name. His other hand joined the assault on my right breast, squeezing roughly through the lace.
He bit down again, sharper this time, near the edge of the bra. Pain flared, bright and sharp. "You like that?" he mumbled against my skin, his breath hot. "Like being used, Tamanna? Like showing the pretty new bride what she's really for?" His words were cruel, meant to humiliate, to break whatever resistance he imagined. His hands were everywhere, rough and possessive, tugging at the lace straps, pulling the cups down.
The clasp at the back gave way under his frantic fingers. The delicate lace bra, the last shield, tore free. He flung it aside like garbage. It landed silently on the plush rug. Suddenly, completely bare from the waist up, the chill air hit my skin like a shockwave. The heavy necklace felt absurd now, grotesque against my nakedness. His eyes devoured me, a look of raw, triumphant lust mixed with fury.
He grabbed me again, spinning me roughly against the edge of the bar counter. The cool surface pressed into my back. His hands clamped onto my bare shoulders, fingers digging in painfully. His gaze burned into mine, dark and dangerous. "Look at what you make me do," he rasped, his voice gravelly. He leaned in, his mouth hovering near mine, smelling of expensive Scotch and desperation. "Such a good girl." He reached for the half-empty champagne bottle beside us, his knuckles white.
The champagne bottle felt shockingly cold in his grip. He didn't pour. He tilted it abruptly, letting the golden liquid cascade directly onto my bare chest and stomach. The cold hit like a slap, stealing my breath, droplets catching in the hollow of my throat, running in icy trails down my skin, soaking into the waistband of my bridal underwear. I gasped, arching involuntarily against the bar's edge.
"Sweetness," he rasped, his eyes glinting with a cruel satisfaction, watching the liquid pool between my breasts, tracing the intricate henna patterns. "For the bride." He dropped the bottle. It thudded dully on the thick rug, spilling its remaining contents in a dark stain. His hands replaced the chill, large and hot and rough, sliding over my wet skin, smearing the champagne, claiming the territory it marked. "Gotta make sure you're… ready." His thumbs rubbed hard over my nipples, the friction almost painful against the chilled skin.
I forced my breath to steady, meeting his gaze. The fear was still there, a tight knot beneath my ribs, but layered over with a steely resolve. This was the price. Rajat’s drunken despair, the empty fridge back home, the mounting bills – this was the currency now. "I am ready," I murmured, my voice steadier than I felt. "For whatever you need, Mr. Vishal. To deserve… this." I gestured faintly, encompassing the penthouse, the power, the violation. "Your help."
"Help?" He barked a harsh laugh, leaning in so close the sour tang of whiskey mingled with the champagne on my skin. "Don't bullshit me now, Tamanna. You walked in here dripping desperation and fresh henna." His hand slid down, past my navel, fingers hooking into the delicate lace of my underwear. "You knew exactly what you were offering." He gave a sharp tug. The fragile lace tore like tissue paper. "Show me."
He stepped back, breathing heavily, his shirt hanging open, his trousers straining. He didn't need to say it again. The command hung in the air, thick and suffocating. The city lights blurred below through the floor-to-ceiling glass, indifferent to the raw transaction happening high above. My discarded saari lay crumpled like a vibrant shroud beside the torn blouse and ruined lingerie. The heavy gold necklace suddenly felt like a shackle.
I looked at him – not at his face, but at the hard line of his trousers, the clear evidence of his demand. The marble floor was cold under my knees as I lowered myself again. The intricate mehndi designs on my thighs seemed grotesquely festive against the stark reality. I reached for his belt buckle, my fingers surprisingly steady. The metal was cool, the leather smooth. The click as I released it echoed too loudly.
He watched, silent now, his breath a harsh rasp as I worked the zipper down. The rough denim scraped my knuckles. His hips pushed forward slightly, impatient, demanding access. My own pulse hammered in my ears, a frantic counterpoint to the soft, incongruous music still filtering through the room. This was the precipice. The point of no return disguised as salvation.
One hand tangled roughly in my hair again, guiding, not forcing. Not yet. It was a test. A final assertion of control before surrender. I felt the heat radiating from him, the tension coiled tight. The heavy gold choker pressed into my windpipe. Make him believe it. Make him need it. My free hand slid inside his waistband, finding the hard, hot length of him. He hissed, a sharp intake of breath. His grip on my hair tightened almost painfully.
His eyes burned down at me, dark pits of hunger and something harder, uglier. Triumph. The conqueror surveying his spoils. My husband’s hollow eyes flashed in my mind – drowned in cheap whiskey, blind to everything, especially me. Especially this. The contrast was sickening. Exhilarating. Necessary.
I met his gaze, unflinching. The lie tasted like ash and champagne on my tongue. "Please," I whispered, the word barely audible. It wasn't begging. It was permission granted. An invitation to his own corruption. "Let me help you." I lowered my head. The city’s glow painted surreal patterns on his skin. His scent, cologne and sweat and raw male need, filled my senses. The gold necklace dug in sharply. My vision tunnelled. For the job. For the escape. For the power he doesn't know he's giving me.
I sink willingly.
The marble chilled my knees through the thin silk of my bridal underwear. Vishal’s belt buckle, cold and heavy under my trembling fingers, clicked open with a sound like a gunshot in the penthouse silence. His hips jerked forward, pressing the hard ridge of his need against my cheek. The scent of spilled champagne, expensive cologne, and his raw arousal thickened the air. "Slowly," he rasped, his voice scraped raw, fingers tightening painfully in my hair. "Make me feel every fucking second."
I obeyed. My hands slid the leather belt free from its loops with deliberate slowness, the smooth grain whispering against his trousers. The city lights far below painted shifting patterns on his open shirt, on the dark hair revealed beneath. I let my knuckles brush against the hot skin of his lower abdomen as I pulled the belt away, tossing it onto the growing pile of discarded clothes – my torn blouse, the ruined petticoat, the delicate lace bra. He sucked in a sharp breath. "Christ," he muttered.
My palms flattened against his stomach, feeling the muscles clench beneath the fine linen. I leaned in, letting the soft weight of my breasts press against his thigh through the fabric of his trousers. His grip on my hair tightened, pulling my head back slightly, forcing me to look up at him. His eyes were dark pits of hunger, fixed on my face, then flicking down to where my body met his leg. "Tease," he accused, a harsh edge beneath the desire. "Little fucking tease."
"Just showing appreciation," I murmured, my voice low and steady despite the frantic drumming of my heart against my ribs. My hands moved upwards, tracing the line of his open shirt. My fingers found the remaining buttons. One. Two. The linen parted further, revealing more of his chest, the defined planes shadowed in the dim light. My knuckles grazed his skin with each deliberate movement. He shuddered.
His free hand, the one not tangled in my hair, dropped to my shoulder. His thumb traced the intricate henna pattern swirling near my collarbone, the design meant for auspicious beginnings now a stark backdrop to this violation. His touch was rough, possessive. "This," he breathed, his thumb pressing harder into the ink-stained skin. "All this… wasted on that useless drunk." His gaze dropped to my breasts, bare and vulnerable, the heavy gold necklace a cold, mocking weight against my skin. "Should be mine."
My fingers found the cuff of his shirt sleeve. I undid the simple cufflink, letting it fall silently onto the thick rug. Then the other. His breathing grew heavier, shallower, as I pushed the ruined shirt off his shoulders. It slid down his arms, catching briefly on his wrists before joining the discarded chaos on the floor. He stood before me now, torso bare, powerful and imposing in the penthouse gloom. The faint scent of his sweat mingled with the champagne drying on my skin.
"Better?" I asked, letting my gaze travel slowly up the hard lines of his body – the defined chest, the flat stomach, the trail of dark hair leading down into his trousers. My hand rested lightly on his hipbone, my thumb stroking the sensitive skin just above the waistband. He made a low, guttural sound in his throat. His hips pushed forward again, insistent.
"Not fucking close," he growled. His hand left my shoulder, fingers digging into the lace still clinging to my hip. "These." He gave a sharp tug. The fragile material tore easily. "Off. Now." The command was absolute, stripped of any lingering pretense of negotiation. The chill air hit my bare skin fully as I pushed the ruined underwear down my thighs, kicking them aside. Now only the absurdly heavy bridal necklace remained, a final, incongruous adornment.
I sank back fully onto my heels, utterly exposed before him. The intricate mehndi covered my legs, my stomach, a vibrant tapestry against my pale skin. His eyes devoured me, a look of pure, predatory triumph. "There," he breathed, his voice thick. "The real Tamanna. No more fucking pretense." His hand returned to my hair, fisting tightly. "Now," he commanded, his gaze dropping pointedly to the straining fabric of his trousers. "Finish what you started. Earn it."
My fingers found the button of his trousers. Popped it open. The zipper hissed down, loud in the charged silence. The rough denim scraped my knuckles as I pushed it lower. He lifted his hips slightly, aiding me. His briefs beneath were dark cotton, stretched taut. The heat radiating from him was intense, almost feverish. My hand slid inside, finding the hard, silken length of him. He gasped, a sharp, involuntary sound. His entire body tensed.
"Fuck," he choked out, his head falling back slightly, eyes squeezing shut for a second before snapping open, burning into mine. His grip on my hair was iron, forcing my head closer. The cool metal of the necklace pressed hard against my windpipe. "Do it," he demanded, his voice ragged, stripped bare. "Show me how fucking grateful you are." His hips thrust forward, impatient, demanding entry. The city lights blurred below. The soft music felt like a cruel joke. My husband’s vacant, whiskey-drowned eyes flashed behind my own. This was the price. The only currency left.
I leaned in. The scent of him, male and urgent, filled my senses. My lips parted. The gold necklace dug in sharply, a reminder of the vows shattered against the penthouse marble. For the job. For the escape. For the power coiled tight beneath his skin, waiting for my claim. I closed the distance.
